We decided to give Platform 8 a try last night. It was ok. The restaurant is placed inside Auckland railway station. Place looks stylish. However, the food was not as high quality as we hoped. We ordered beef cheek, linguine, fettucine and margarita pizza. The place advertised as Italian restaurant. The pizza dough was thick. The pasta noodles were more like Chinese noodles. I don't knw whether they were trying to achieve fusion cuisine but certainly felt not Italian at all.

Tried this place out last week. Lovely setting with a small but tasty menu. We tried the stay skewers, the chicken and lamb mains and the mango cheesecake. Everything was cooked well with lots of flavour. Good selection of drinks at reasonable prices for the city. Staff friendliness was dependent on who ended up serving you.

Gonna start off with the best thing about this place... and that is the vibe!! The old railway station is a stunning place to have the restaurant - there's an antique feel with nice lighting which is just lovely. The service was ok, prompt and the waitress was very helpful. However, just a bit too quick to over to clean up dishes when we weren't finished with them. The food was... ok as well. It wasn't bad overall, just expected a bit better for the price range. Also, the beef cheek we ordered had some burnt things in the dish...??? Odd. Anyway, I hope it's not a recurring thing... the place itself is stunning!

The staff were great. The food looked fantastic, but lacked any real substance. For the price, I wouldn't go here again - there's too many great resteraunts in Auckland, this facility just isn't up to the high standards I expect for these prices. Great staff, food was average but not great.

Great atmosphere, yummy cocktails, delicious food (beef cheek is amazing!). Desserts 11 out of 10! We had an issue with one dish, which was dealt with courteously and swiftly.

This is such a marvelous place to have an enjoyable dinner. The dishes that we ordered were very yummy. Highly recommended to go for a try.

2 stars for the friendly staff 1 star for the special location Overall , the food is very average especially the lamb rack is not tasty at all ,very hard with strong smell! I won’t come back again.

Beautiful railway station, we were placed in a boxy kind of setting that made it hard to enjoy the surroundings. Food was ok, but don't go here if you want Italian as the authenticity is questionable, to say the least. Suffered though an hour's worth of cheesy Italian music that drives you nuts by the time you leave. Please change it for the love of God!

Excellent food, truly delicious and top notch. It’s a very small restaurant with only a few tables so it’s recommended to make reservations. Only lost a star due to the service. While friendly, it seemed that they were a bit confused at times and on receiving a dish, we were not given cutlery without notifying them. Also it’s unusual that the menu did not have a page for red wines on offer and this added to the serving staff’s confusion.

Beautiful heritage building and really delicious food! Highly recommend the charred octopus and the cauliflower. Also really loved the warm greens!

I am reviewing the architect of the building and the outlook of the restaurant which definitely required 5*. And amazing place to visit and get your time at something really great place. The landmark is and historical building and must visit place.

Located in an old train station was quite new. At first I was sort of distracted by the echo whenever anyone moved their chair or someone was walking past, but that all went away when a fabulous staff helped us with our drinks and food. The sliders were kinda disappointing in terms of presentation. But that might be just being nit picky. The mains did take some time to be served, but they tasted great. The vegetables accompanying the meat were generous and was cooked very well. The meat was cooked well and the sauces were just ideal. Not too salty, tangy or sweet. Just hit the spot.

Really beaut dining experience, in the original train station building very near Spark Arena Downtown Auckland. Staff were extremely attentive. They have really good heating, but suggest you take a jacket in winter.

Visited for the first time last night. Sadly the place was very quiet, as the location is so beautiful and should be enjoyed by more, but perhaps we just came during one of the quiet periods. The food was very good, especially the hash fries. We did have one poor dish, which happens on occasion, at almost every establishment, which was quickly rectified by the staff and apologies given. That just showed how amazing the service was, and is why I'm not deducting any stars. Overall an unexpected charm that, until a day or two ago, I didn't even know existed.

This place has a lot of potential but just misses the mark. It's just lacks passion. The food is neither great nor terrible, the drinks are average, the prices are middle of the road.. In saying that I'm just a guy with a phone writing a review about a restaurant I've visited once so don't listen to me 😉

Had the pleasure of dining at platform eight, the ambience, decorations and service were all 10/10. Very classy and comfortable, the servers were very helpful and friendly. We tried the pork ribs which were absolutely delicious, very tender and perfectly seasoned. We also had the pork belly which was succulent and soft yet had crunchy skin. The portion sizes were on the smaller size but our party of five was completely full and when we split the bill it was extremely reasonable. This restaurant is a hidden gem and has the perfect warm and cosy atmosphere in the vintage train station. Such a great dining experience and will definitely come again! 10/10

Usually when i go out to eat i find faults very easily, complaining is a hobby; however i genuinely could not think of ANY negatives with this spot. It's simply, unbelievably good. I had an amazing experience. The overall vibe of the resturaunt was so cool. It was sophisticated and fancy yet comfy and cozy at the same time. The food was absolutely delicious and affordable. Service was impeccable, the staff were friendly and helpful. This place has the full package. Great food great service, great vibe. 5/5 :)

A wonderfully relaxed place to drink and dine in comfort, with great atmosphere, awesome architectural features and a seclusion that is rarely found. The menu offerings created some challenge because it was impossible to order them all and they all sounded absolutely delicious! We were far from disappointed when our meals arrived, and if we had more tummy space we would have gone another round. One of those places that you want to keep all to yourself, but know you won't, because it's so good. Absolutely NOT a once and done place, and we will be back!

A hidden gem! Glad our group discovered it last night as it had only been it's second night of opening. The service was fantastic, Food each of us chose was all so delicious and drinks to wash it all down with was served till late. A perfect trio to end an evening with.
