Only scored it 4 stars due to my age! Anyone younger would score it 5 stars. Service was awesome, food was awesome, drinks were awesome. Prices mid range. Music was too loud and deep base for any meaningful conversation, again, for my age.

During the day I'm going to assume it looks a bit better as it's clean and likely less busy than I suspect it gets at night, but overall, it still just feels like a cookie cutter NZ beer bar (and I think it is part of that larger brewery chain family). Inside and outside seating makes for good pictures when empty at least, and the outdoor wall art is pretty good. Chicken burger looked better than the beef one and was pretty good as I recall. Pizzas were okay. However, for me I think it's still just a place I'd go to when my mates want to have a beer during the day with or without kids in tow as the menu and tap variance is more aligned to drunken late nights I feel.

Staff was very friendly and accomodating despite the inconvenience of the lockdown -- they are definitely doing their best to keep the place clean and safe. The food was good, and portions were huge! Just keep that in mind:) Especially loved the buttermilk chicken entree -- very tasty. A little bit pricey for some things, but I enjoyed the experience and would come back.

We came by for their unlimited chicken, beer and bubbles event on Thursdays. We did book ahead and it looked like it was necessary since it was quite full. We paid before starting and then went at it. There were slaw and chips for the table and the chicken was handed out regularly. The chicken itself was mostly nice. The wing cuts I had at the end did have dried pieces on the body end but it was still nice. The breading had a nice flavour. There were options on unlimited export or prosecco. I did find that the prosecco was not sweet enough. Two hours was plenty of time to enjoy the nicely fried chicken. The staff were quite nice and was generally easy to get a hold of to get more chicken or beverages. They are also with Joylab so you can get 10% of your bill as a voucher for your next visit.

Stopped in for lunch and had a very nice pizza which I shared with partner. The chips were too fat for me as I prefer thinner variety. The coffee was good but the hot chocolate I would describe as I Indifferent Good atmosphere and nice staff. Cost $$-$$$

We went to the elephant wrestler for the first time with a large group of people (about 30) we had a few people that had food intolerances and were worried about what they could eat. Not only was the waiter amazing! The service was fast and the food was amazing! The menu catered for everyone! Izzy our waiter made you feel important even with the large number of people she had to serve! She helped with your order and made sure that what you ordered didn’t contain food you couldn’t have! She was patient and always had a smile! We would definitely go back! Ask for Izzy she was amazing!

3.5 stars. Vegetarian burger was okay but the buns were really dry and the fries were lukewarm and a little soft (not crunchy). The vege poke bowl was nice but a little too oily. The star dish of the night was the Korean spicy cauliflower + slaw but found it a little too salty (less sauce would be nicer).

Received fabulous service, food and drinks. Fairly priced. Just wish there was cheaper parking, it was busy so we had to use Wilson parking. Clean facilities. A little too loud on the music for dinner/meal conversations to be carried out (we had to have booming voices to talk) 🤣 Just wanted to thank the staff for doing her best to lessen the volume though. We are impressed with their staff being so nice.

Went in on Friday for dinner with a friend. Nicole was such a wonderful staff member so friendly and helpful and just generally onto it. The bartender Maddie was also super friendly and knowledgeable of the drinks! Both of them helped so much considering we were a table of allergies. The food and drinks were good and value for money! Can’t speak highly enough about our experience! The food was delicious and came out quickly. The drinks were reasonable and the atmosphere was perfect for Sunday! Have been here once before late on New Years Eve and found the food to be pretty good on a limited Menu. Saw they were listed on first table and headed in for a impromptu dinner with my wife. Steaks cooked perfectly not too badly priced.

Great bar! Lovely staff. They all pretty chill in there so even if you get a bit rowdy they really just leave you to it. Great dance floor for getting your boogie on. Fantastic music, just generally a brilliant bar, why dont ya give it a go? 😁

Great service, nice food & good selection of beer on tap. I had some ribs & a couple of Tuatara beers at the recommendation of the staff and was happy with this--this came to $51 Only dropped a star because of the smoking (cigarettes and e-cigarettes) which of course isn't the fault of the pub, but really detracted from the meal.

We had a bottomless here today and it was so good! Dani was serving us and honestly gave us the best service that I’ve had in hospo in a very long time. We were constantly filled up with food and drinks and she was such a good time, definitely set us off for a good night! Would recommend, especially if she’s here

Awesome staff and really friendly relaxed atmosphere. Food was a little disappointing to be honest as it was a bit bland and cold, but if you balance this against good pub atmosphere then this a top place. I'd recommend this as a casual bite before a show at the Bruce Mason as they are obviously geared up to understand how long it takes to get food to the table on time and still have you in your seat for the curtain to raise. We will be back for sure.

We had an absolutely amazing visit - it was the "Drag Queen Bingo" evening and it was hilarious. The food is great and the service is top notch! A huge thanks to Annabel, Aisling, Adele and Madi. You guys are amazing! See you again (we rebooked!)

Amazing fried chicken bits and the pork belly with coconut rice was the best I've had. The pizzas were very nice but needed a thinner base, maybe even a freshly made base. Highly recommended and can't wait to try a few other dishes.

5 stars for our wonderful waitress Dani, who served us when we ate at The Elephant Wrestler a little while ago - and 4 stars for value. Dani was AMAZING - my daughter and I are both coeliac and it is always risky trying a new place and working out if the chefs and waiters actually understand coeliac disease and the need to avoid gluten. Dani was so helpful given her family experience with coeliac disease and her recommendations were spot on. Thanks Dani :)

Came to the North Shore on a work social trip. Staff were amazing. Special mention to Anabelle, kept us well hydrated and fed all night, a true professional. I've been to the Elephant Wrestler for dinner and drinks multiple times and I am yet to be disappointed. The service has always been extremely efficient and the staff are super friendly which is always great. I would highly recommend getting smaller bites to share, the dumplings, fried chicken and pork belly bites are super yum! Overall the atmosphere, cocktails and food are all amazing and I'm looking forward to returning some time soon!

Found the elephant wrestler on google and went for a beer because of their rating. We ended up staying for many beers and dinner. Really nice casual spot. They had $15 dinner specials and the meals were fantastic for the price! We had a huge burger and pork belly. The service however was the standout for us. Dani, Adele and Alex were all excellent and very friendly. Very refreshing to have great service and we made sure to tell them and Thank them. We stil be back.

Wow what a cool place. Walked up and down the street trying to find somewhere affordable that also allowed smokers. This place is awesome, great friendly owner and staff. Coolest outside area I have ever seen, plenty of space indoors as well. Food was great, not over the top stuff, just great basics but do cater to some different dishes. Highly recommended.

Lovely vibrant party atmosphere for a fun night out. Not recommended if you're looking for a quiet evening with your loved one. I think the music is a bit too loud as it's hard to hear (and I'm not old) your friends speaking over the music. Be sure to either head out early or make a booking as it fills up rather quickly after 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Cocktails are really good, and food good as well.

I had my 30th birthday here on the Thursday dumpling night, myself and my friends had such a wonderful time! The dumplings just kept coming - you def get your moneys worth! The atmosphere was so lovely and the live band sang me happy birthday which was really cute and nice. Service could with smiles and friendly would be good. If you ask a table do they need anything then stay wait for an answer. This place is good for functions it has plenty of space. When my friends and I happened across The Elephant Wrestler we could not have hoped for a better experience. 4 Mums, 5 kids, school holidays. Steve was amazing, he was beyond accomodating, he was patient with the kids and a gentleman with me and my friends. He could not have done more to make our dining experience easier. The food was lovely but Steve’s service made this an easy 5 star review. Totally family friendly and I’ll definitely be coming back to try some more of their food. A big thanks to Annabel too for dodging the kids while delivering the food, they didn’t make her job easy.

Had a great dinner here last week before heading to a show. Staff did a good job of getting our order to us quickly with time pressures and the meals we had were amazing. I wish we'd had longer and more people so we could have tried more!

The service is fantastic, but the food can be hit and miss, depending on who's on in the kitchen. Best to steer clear of anything deep fried, it's often very soggy, but the pizza tends to be really good. As I said, outstanding service, the girls are great and the main reason we go back again and again.

What a great place. Stopped by here on our way from the beach on a Sunday for some lunch. It was delicious. Meat Lovers Pizza was exactly what you would want from a pizza, and the kumara salad was yummy, although they didn’t have any salmon to add to it. Iced coffee and a pint of cold beer was exactly what was needed on a hot Sunday noon. Will be back here, for sure!

This is one of the best bars I've ever been to. So many great events & an awesome covers band every Friday. But what really strikes me is the professionalism of the staff & how well run this place is. The bouncers are very present but polite & respectful (they don't get heavy unless they need to). The bar staff are super friendly & prompt & helpful. Whenever there is an issue with eg a broken glass, the staff & falling over themselves to come and help. its so great to find a place that is fun but also so well run, it means you know the staff are taking care of everything & you can just focus on having a good time - which we always do. So glad I found this place!

Pub lunch in the sun, only place you can get this in Takapuna. I can recommend the Chicken and Chips $15 special, and the Tiger Tower is great value too if your with a group (or thirsty). Our waitresses were the two Katies... awesome service and great sense of humour. They told us if we mentioned them we would get a discount on our next visit :-) Anyway, hard to beat the food quality, service and value.

The Elephant Wrestler is a gem of a restaurant catering for all food choices from Vegan to full blown carnivore with wine to match. Generous well balanced meals that everyone will enjoy. Literally everything you can think of is on the menu and it is yummy plus the services is faultless. We went home very happy, thank you Elephant Wrestler.

This has been my local favourite for the last 10 years. Its been refurbished recently as it was gettin a bit tired which is good to see but I feel as though it's lost its fun bar vibe with the make over as the restaurant is more centre stage now & the groovy chunky outside tables have gone so it's feeling like more of a restaurant than a bar. The staff are still awesome though! Their service is & always has been consitently excellent.....it never changes!

The elephant wrestler is a great gastro pub on the North Shore that does great meals that are simple but really good. The range of drinks is plentiful both with alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Close to Takapuna beach and among the shops, with specials on selected days. Service is friendly, outdoor seating is available all weather
