Came here for dinner. The staff was very accommodating, giving us a choice of sitting inside or outside, which was nice, and they helped us make some good choices for food. The ambiance and views are really nice here, so you can't go wrong. The food was also really good, with lots of smaller plates to share. We had Bao Buns, Frieds Chicken, Dumplings and Brocollini. Would definitely recommend all of those.

Chinese roast duck, hoisin & mandarin sauces which comes with pancake (like roti) was the star of the night. Food does not disappoint but Customer service could be better. The room we booked was a bit crowded for us and servers spilled drinks on my friends not one but twice. Mango pudding was nice and refreshing.

I highly recommend this a must go to place, the service was on point from the jump as soon as you hikoi in you’re being attended too , the food was absolutely Devine! And the atmosphere as a whole was a vibe!! Big ups to the waiter there named Nathaniel for the amazing service, he catered to our needs constantly and was very attentive ,informative and helpful. A lovely Friday afternoon at White & Wongs. Service was exceptional from our good friend S. had mock tails, roti, 2x bao buns and deep fried ice cream amounting to $58. The roti was a on the small end as I expected a whole roll however there were two small pieces- they were very yummy though (but not sure if it’s worth the $16 price) Chicken baos very yummy and deep fried ice cream was delicious, the butterscotch sauce was the highlight as the ice cream was plain. Did however have sore tummy perhaps from dessert?

As always me and my partner are in 💙 with White and Wong’s. We enjoyed our time last year at Queenstown restaurant many times and now we also have visited Auckland one. Food was as same as our expectation, no taste difference between both restaurants. Really yum 😋 and loved it .

Great dinner ! No booking, came as a couple on a Wednesday night, they find us a table straight up. The manager (dude, tall-ish, black glasses) was welcoming and super warm ☺️ The rest of team turned out to be helpful, we shared 5 dishes + 2 desserts and we were full and happy. The soft shell crab hot starter was a delight. Good wine list too, well organized, didn't try the cocktails but surely I'm going to be back. Thank you so much, great team work

Its a nice place to eat lunch right by the waters. I like the twist on Asian food that they have very refreshing. But the only thing is they should ask before cleaning out the plates:(. Other than that the food is amazing

Pre-booked for a party of 8 on 17, April 2021 a Saturday night. Food was good we ordered from the menu. Cocktails were strong as we liked. Minor hiccups found for the night that we all discussed later were our meals being bought out at different times due to how busy they were which staff did advise would be the case. After we ordered our meals we realised we could have been offered the banquet sitting as our bill was equivalent to that of a banquet option which our waitress did not alert us to. It would have been nice to be advised about the options on the menu available for a group. Also due to the size of the group we couldn’t get seated by the sea apparently🤔Other than that the vibe was great.

Lovely views of the sea from the restaurant. Food was all delicious. Dumplings were delicious and had a good skin to cover it. The pork belly and chicken were also very crispy. I am so happy about that! Sriracha mayo was great! Only thing was the chili oil I asked to dip my dumplings in was not spicy at all. Not sure if it was too much oil or that the chillis haven't had any time to infuse with the oil. 🤔 Let's talk about the servers. They were incredibly helpful and kind. Very hospitable. Very, very nice!

Great location for an end of the week meal with friends. Being a Friday definitely recommend making a reservation. The staff were really attentitive and made the evening better for this. We were warned the food may take a while due to it being so busy but there was not a long wait at all and by the quality of the food it was totally worth it. Delicious flavors, vast choices and exquisite tastes are what you will get at White + Wong’s. Haven't been in ages but will totally return, the only thing I couldn't do here was try everything!

Amazing allergy support and service! We had a group of around 20 and the banquet menu. They graciously catered to 3 vegans, 2 vegetarians, 2 no pork, one Gluten free and all no dairy. Wow. Different coloured plates for all so wait staff couldn't make mistakes and all food variations were excellent. Fine dining and safe experience. Thank you.

Plenty of choices for starters such as dumplings or buns. Mains are also extensive, had the lamb curry and was not well later that night. Nice environment and awesome services. Wines and drinks are quite good. But as a traditional Chinese stomach, the food does not surprise me too much. Seems they are trying to make mixture tastes of Asian food and western food which is sometimes weird to me. Recommend deep fried beef cube and beef steak with special soy sauce and salad.

DELICIOUS. Thoroughly enjoyed dinner here. Very tasty meals - we ordered three dishes and rice for two to share which was plenty. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Lovely view of the harbour and a great spot to watch a storm roll in! Not cheap but definitely get your money's worth. A really pleasant experience, would definitely go back here. Went for a team lunch. And man....was it awesum...totally yes !! it was East meets West kinda themed food. We ordered mostly the beers and entree's...tried the dumplings... crispy fried chicken was a popular dish on the table and had to be ordered twice. While I am more of chicken guy..my other team did order other meat options like the Peking duck and pork dumplings. Even the Bang Bang chicken was quite tasty. Come to the ambience, its conveniently placed at the hub of viaduct and its a perfect setup for lunch on a sunny day. But you may also opt to sit inside in cool if the sun is too hot. A highly recommended place and would luv to go again...just a matter of time 😊

22nd Jan 2018 - I went there for dinner with friends and we ordered quite a few dishes to share. As you can see, everything looks appetising and delicious 😋. When we arrived there, the waiter was very pleasant and professional. He brought us to our table and introduced us on "today's special" (which I can't remember what 😮). The place was warm and cosy. Plenty of people 👥 and quite packed on Thursday evening 🌃. It was also quite noisy due to the background noise and music 🎶, and I basically needed to speak a bit louder 🔊 than usual to converse. They have plenty of drink selections; from non-alcoholic drinks to spirits to beers 🍺 and wines 🍷. They also have a reasonable selection of cocktails 🍹. I chose "Spicy 🌶 Bloody Mary" and it was so good that I had 3 🍹 and two beers 🍻. I seriously recommend that drink 🍹 if available as they update the drink list 📃 regularly. For appetiser, I ordered half a dozen of freshly shucked market oysters (Pacific Rock oysters) with chilli 🌶 jam, fresh lime and crispy shallots. It is followed by Peking Duck, Chinese roast pork belly with hoisin sauce, & char siu pork scotch with chilli and red vinegar. We also ordered Penang curry of silken Tofu and wok fried crispy hapuka dry curry. Those dishes were amazing, delicious and yummy 😋. The food was one of the best in Auckland 👍. Would I go back? Yes 😊 Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. What can I say, must try 😋. Ambience: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐⭐ out of 5. Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Pricey but worth every penny of it.

We have been here many times before and this time it seemed the food was not the same. The Bang Bang Chicken is a dish I will not order again, it is cold and the flavors seem too strong and is a muddle of tastes. The beef dumplings were soupy and tasty. The soft shell crab sauce was too strong. The only dish I liked was the squid. Not enough positives to want to return really which is a shame as our last experience was awesome.

It's weird that once we're seated, server tells us that we can only stay for 1 hour but there were lots of empty tables. We tried some of the dumplings and my favorite was the money bag, the others were average. Curry was quite expensive $30+ and didn't come with rice. Love the drinks though.

Stopped by for dinner on a Friday and managed to get a table without booking around 6.30pm. Interesting menu that has quite a few options which looked interesting. We went with a range of items to share. The fried hapuka was quite nice but I through the roti was a bit expensive and it was really thick. The soft shell crab was also quite nice. Dessert also had interesting options and went with the pandan brulee and deep fried ice cream. I thought they were both nice but the pandan flavour was overpowered with banana. Nice service, the waitress helped with food options and gave helpful hints during dinner like to dig straight through the deep fried ice cream to get to the butterscotch at the bottom. Nice place for a meal and it did get quite busy later on at night so booking might be a good idea.

one of my Favorite Auckland hangouts. Ever time we go they have great food, and we have working our way though most of the menu. From the yummy starters or yum Char style, to the drunken beef and nice rich flavors of the curries. Followed by great drinks selection and outstanding service. Also you can sit outside on the deck beside the water, perfect for the summer time. Visit number 5 done, and another amazing bunch of food, noticed a little bit of change on the menu so some new fresh items. Ps, check out the cool Toilets, check photos for options.

The most amazing dinner spot in NZ! I loved it and will forever be dreaming about the shaking beef, it was tender and juicy, and melted in my mouth, I couldn’t get enough. The crispy chicken is a MUST, it was perfectly cooked and the sweet and sticky sauce was to die for. Even the Asian wok tossed veggies were amazing. All the dishes were delicious, and when I’m back, White Wongs is the first thing I’ll eat off the plane.

Very popular place being in the viaduct area and on arrival don’t be surprised if have to wait for a table to become free. Food was well presented and tasty and though a little more expensive than other Asia restaurant’s I’ve been to, left feeling full and content. Service was friendly and efficient all round 👍

The dumplings and the shaking beef were great! A little bit expensive but the flavour is worth the money. The salmon sashimi is also very flavourful and great but i just wish it was a bit cheaper since it's a very small serving. The ambiance looks very nice and the lighting added a warm overall tone. Such a shame :( went with a group of 5 in Auckland city! Expected to get more for what we payed for as we all ordered cocktails $18 dollars each we got less that a glass full with no ice so they were warm it almost looked like they had been left overs :(. We then asked the staff they offered no solution and simply said they had run out of the correct glasses. One of our friends later order the same cocktails and ended up getting much more and the correct amount for the cocktail so you could clearly see that they hadn’t tried for our first 5 drinks. Food was great portions not to big though left hungry even though we ordered 8 dishes. When we went to pay we were told we couldn’t pay separately and “apparently” we were told we couldn’t group pay when we booked the place but we were definitely not told. So one person had to pay the whole bill $350 expected more sadly left disappointed

The dumplings were amazing! we got another serving because they were so good. The salad was excellent and very well dressed. The Bao were good, not the best I've had; but tasty none-the-less. My first time to try this place almost turned into a sour experience. My friend and I waited for our food for at least 45 minutes. When we could no longer contain our disappointment, my friend waved to a staff to ask about our order. She checked and found out that there was a mistake somewhere and was so quick to apologise for it. She acted on it promptly and food started to be served on our table - some were not even on our list. Her reaction to the close-to- unacceptable service saved the day! We all make mistakes, but how we rectify them spells all the difference! Thank you for being gracious and generous! Food was superb!!! Will definitely be back BUT hoping that our experience will be much better and that it will not happen again to any other customers.

A frequent local lunch spot. If you can request or reserve a table outside, the harbour views provide a nice scene for dining. If not, the table setting inside has a certain ambience that is equally impressive! Recommend the Massaman curry or Red curry and any if the buns!

Have only been here in evenings and the ambience is perfect for a romantic date - though it’s not a quiet place especially on the weekends but that’s how I prefer it. It is a bit expensive but food is great, I have been there multiple times but nothing has disappointed me yet and hoping it remains the same. Friends or group would more prefer the setup than couples as the restaurant gets quite busy due to it's popularity and hearing your date/partner might be difficult in the resto ambience..

Second time here and both times were great. Delicious food with plenty of options to satisfy most. Awesome service. We chose to share our dishes amongst four of us, which the timing of them coming out were to perfection. We spent around $300 which was 6 dishes including a dozen oysters, beers and a few cocktails. Not great. But salad and meat dishes- anything with fresh vegetables and herbs- were great. Ambience: A+ . Can't beat the ocean view! Music was a little bit loud for lunch time though.

Food is great but unfortunately I won't return. We reserved a table but we ended up being put on stools at a high table. The meals all come out at different times and there is a gap between them. We were told this when we ordered but it seems a strange practice for a restaurant. Other restaurants can deliver a full table at the same time, why not here. Each person ended up just starting their meal so the last person just had to wait. All of this would be ok if it was a cheap restaurant but the prices are expensive. So the service, setting and price doesn't match.

Wonderful atmosphere with the softly lit paper lanterns reminiscent of Old Hoi An. Fragrant air filled with Thai basil mint, coriander, lime, and good conversation. Great location with nice water view. Waiting staff are lovely, except the unwelcoming maitre d' with blonde hair, who probably was having a bad day maybe?.. Had read a lot of positive reviews, but unfortunately the food is really average to me. The char siu pork scotch is on the dry side and dough of the buns is soft but way too sticky. Flavor is just ok, totally lack of the wow factor we were looking for. Ingredients are fresh and the portion sizes are ok, especially the soup. Overall, not the best experience we were expecting and won't rush back.

Musaman curry... no sorry also not even close to what it should be, in fact I am guessing it came out of a packet, thick gloopy coconut. Food is beautiful and service is amazing when you book in advance. If you try walking in they turn you away even if no one is on any of their tables. My fault for not booking in advance but I shouldn't have to when the restuarant has only one person inside already eating. I could understand if they had bookings soon but i don't think they have 30 plus bookings all coming in at the same time. A restuarant doesn't work that way. I should know i worked in hospo for a couple years. You space out all of your bookings so the chef(s) aren't overwhelmed. Oh well back to the new market one 😂

The fried rice was a bit bland. The deep fried ice cream was delicious. However, the strawberry cheesecake with sorbet lacked flavour. Tasted like cream with a couple drops of strawberry. You will need to book ahead for a good table at your required time. WW is very popular and always gets full. Asian fusion style food, very similar feel to the restaurant of the same name/chain in Queenstown. Food is tasty and brought to the table sporadically as it is cooked but was quite quick. Wine list has a good selection and the non-drinkers enjoyed the mocktails. Our English waitress was efficient but unfriendly with a perfunctory manner so we didn’t leave a tip. The bad acoustics mean the restaurant is very noisy when it’s full so conversation can be difficult, especially if you have tables nearby of people shouting to be heard over the cacophony. Great place for a large group or you just feel like shouting at someone.

This wasn’t at all why I was expecting (bring new to Auckland) but I really enjoyed it. It’s a big, busy place, good for a Friday night out with friends, with music playing below speech volume but not solely as a background. The food in these places often tends to be substandard but it didn’t disappoint. Everything was prepared well and in-house, and there was some creativity and thought put into it. There was the odd rough edge to the food but they were minor. Definitely worth a go unless you’re looking for a quieter vibe.

There are authentic Chinese restaurants in Auckland that can make the "same" base dish taste better and cooked the right way but maybe not the desired "westernised" atmosphere and meal portions. White destroys Wong's authentic Chinese cooking style, and Wong has mediocre cooking skills in the kitchen. Dry duck anyone?

Higher end Chinese/Asian food. Had excellent staff the times we have been here. Little on the pricey side, but as the food was good, you don't mind so much. The Wagyu beef shumai, are really good, as are the Beef Cheeks with Deep fried Tripe (a little weird but good). The desserts are nice too, but I have to say, as you're already in the CBD make the effort and go to Miann's for dessert.

Amazing lip smacking gobsmacking food!!!Started off with vegetarian wontons they had umami flavour paired with sweet chilli sauce,followed by roti roll with fried tofu..perfectly balanced dish had the crunch of peanuts,bit sweet and a hint of spice and silkiness of the tofu(best tofu I have eaten ever its not chewy or rubbery just melts in your mouth) and having it all in one bite is a little party in your mouth.We ordered Penang curry with fried which was also quite nice specially the fried rice the chef made it vegetarian on our request.And finished off with fried ice cream,my first food experience with fried icecream and tell you what I am not disappointed!!Amazing stuff and great cocktails too!!!
