Great service and yummy food! Everything was presented so beautifully and the service was great. The first table we went to though, there was condensation dripping down from the pipes above onto the table, but we were able to switch tables with no issues. The ceviche was beautiful; it was quite strong with citrus flavors, but a nice light meal to start the evening. The Wapiti Elk was very yum, not for someone who doesn't like the game-y flavour, but was seasoned and cooked well to medium rare. The bone in ribeye wasn't anything too fancy, it was quite a hefty portion. The star of the night was definitely the creamed corn brûleé, delicious! Desserts were also a hit - the rhubarb was delicious!! Not too sweet either

Highly recommend! We went here for dinner last night. The ambience was relaxing, the food is some of the best we’ve had in Auckland (the eye fillet was so juicy and tender — cooked to perfection), and the service is excellent. A special shout out to Corentin whose charisma is an asset to the industry and made the service a point to remember and come back for. We will back 10/10 from us.

One of the best steak houses we have dine in Auckland. More varieties. Tuna tartare, eye fillets, lamb rump....High quality and delicious foods in good portion and good value. Excellent customer service making you enjoy the dining experience. Highly recommend to go !

Super impressed and will definitely be going back! The service was impeccable and the food was fantastic. Both myself and my partner had steaks cooked to perfection with delicious sides that were large enough portions to share. Our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive, our water glasses never got below half full.

A spur of the moment evening out turned into an experience that we will not soon forget but will soon repeat. From our early arrival Co was a wonderful host and made us feel welcome. Consistent, great service coupled with amazing food and drinks was just what we were after. I'd go back for the fresh bread and pesto butter but the wagyu was something really special. Very nice dining experience. The service was very good and considering, even bring us complementary bread and butter. The entrée was extremely well done and tasty. The main dish we ordered steak was extremely soft and juicy, potato puree could be a bit too salty. In the end the dessert was nice and with good quality as well. Very nice and well done dinner. Only one suggestion, please polish saucers, tea pot and tea cup. The stains could be very annoying and impact the whole experience. But overall 4 out of 5! Will come back for the tasty food and affordable price.

Every thing is ok, I was about to give 5 stars, but, it takes 50 minutes to get my dish ready, and I've actually only spent less than 30 min to eat and then left in rush to check my parking, as I only paid 90 minutes for parking.

The food was good, and to be expected for a premium price. However there were to many smaller issues that added up that tarnished the expected premium experience. Menus on a worn single A3 paper, food served on boards that had splits in them, ribs being warm instead of hot, overall atmosphere being a bit meh. If the food was cheaper I would overlook it, but it isn't and so I won't. If someone asked me how it was I would say "Yeah its ok I guess" Extra point for nice bartender.

My most favourite place at Wynyard: tasty food that's beautifully presented, excellent service, great live jazz music on Thurs evening, chill out vibe. Cor the bartender can whip any concoctions to suit my mood and he hasn't failed me so far! This is THE place I'm taking my visitors and close friends to and where I can go by myself when I just need to unwind after a hard day at work. Highly recommended.

Went here for a special occasion, the staff were friendly and the food was cooked to perfection - nothing short of amazing (get the chateaubriand). The manager on duty was funny and extremely professional. All in all, great food and the epitome of great service. We will be back.

Just had the lunch special: Fish and chips. Not that fish and chips are a dish where you could do much wrong, but I never realised how much you can do right. It's your typical fish and chips, but the batter is just so much nicer, the chips are crisp and tasty, no taste of fat or oil with it, just great fish and chips that are close to perfection in my opinion. Same goes for the tartare and the vinegar. I am more of a tomato sauce person, but here I will go for the vinegar. Unfortunately I ate them before taking a picture, but cannot wait for next Friday, I will be back! P.S.: Did I mention a small but fine craft beer selection?

Came to the restaurant due to the review. I ordered the NZ wagyu, puree and brocollini. The steak was great however it was cooked well done instead of medium well. So if youre here for steak i guess thats good. The puree was blend. The brocollini was slighty overcooked? (Tasted blend and bit too soft for brocollini). Also, it took 1 hour for food to arrive though it wasnt a full house.

Me and my partner decided to fly to Auckland from Welly for a bit of a long weekend recently and stayed at a hotel close to the Wynyard Quarter. We stumbled across the Wynyard Grill and thought lets give it a go. And how glad we are that we did. We were welcomed by Kate, seated and the menu was explained. My fella is a bit of a wine and whisky geek and this place has a great selection. The ceasar salad and the Clam chowder were actually out of this world! But you can't go to a steakhouse without having some meat... We've never had Elk so gave that a go along with the wagyu. Probably the best steaks we've ever had. Perfectly cooked and delicious. Looking at other peoples tables and what they ordered had us thinking ahead to the next time we're in Auckland. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Great atmosphere. Large space so tables are well spread out. Very warm elegant feel to it. The ingredients used in all the dishes are quite clearly second to none. With even the olives being sourced from Europe. If you’re a meat eater make sure you give the ribs a go. The raw fish dishes make for a great starter. While the meals are very decadent there’s something about them that reminds you of a good hearty home cooked meal.

One of the best dining experiences we have had. The food was fantastic and the range was incredible. Rabbit, caviar, lobster and Wagyu on the same menu. Portion sizes are very decent so don't over order. We were so full we never got to try dessert so we will definitely be back!

This place is amazing. I came here on a trip with a friend and had we the best meal of our trip! I had the rabbit and shiitake meatballs and my friend had the kingfish carpaccio. I was really impressed with the service as well. Our server was knowledgeable and funny! We will be back on our next trip to this beautiful country.

Over the first week of July, myself and my family/friends ended up coming here three times! IT WAS THAT GOOD! Staff are a true stand out, so lovely and fun, we ended up spending hours eating and drinking because every one was so warm and welcoming. Food was OUTSTANDING! Just exceptional. Shared a bunch of dishes and a cheese plate with friends and everything was spectacular. Favorites were the Modern Caesar salad, Tuna tartare, salmon crudo, Chateaubriand and australian wagyu. Sweet tooth? Unreal Creme brulee and cheesecake. Came here for our anniversary. If we put the inside decor and style aside (more like pub style/cafe) the rating is 5*. It is true the menu and prices are more like a fine-dining experience, but I came here for food mainly! The staff is extremely attentive and going extra mile for each customer. Putting a lot of effort into your experience. Staff helped pick great red wine. Tried prawns and carpaccio for starters. Both amazing, fresh and well prepared. And for mains I had Australian Wagyu beef, my man had bone in ribeye. Tried blue cheese and port wine jus sauces. Bacon jam, corn creme bruulee and truffle fries (seasoned with truffle oil). Everything was 10/10. Steaks were cooked perfectly to medium rare (as requested) and melting in our mouth.

Mac 'n cheese did not disappoint. Maximum level of creamy and cheesy-nest combined with chorizo bites, what more can anyone ask for. The surprise of the show, was the creme brulé corn. I never had creamed corn cooked this way before. The sweetness contrasted nicely with the leafy greens & vinaigrette. Excellent food, great service, will return. The tap beers are also pretty awesome, along with the selection of good wines.

MAGIC THURSDAYS! There is a note of theatricality, of extravagance, of excess to Wynyard Grill. The temperamental sliding doors reveal this offbeat experience, and you will feel part of a members-only club. With friends stuck on the damaged Auckland motorway, you settle into a dangerously comfortable barstool and observe the scene.. A guest approaches and a bottle of red is discussed with the spectacled French mixologist. The perfect vintage is fetched from the shelves, tested and poured, full-bodied, and bilious. The doors behind me jerk open and in drift curly-haired jazz musicians. They quickly set up in the corner as more diners arrive. Flames rise in the open-view kitchen and the orders roll in. If you happen to be here on a Thursday, a smiling man in a dark pin-striped suit jacket and purple silk scarf will stride through the doors and set to work. Andy Kean performs old-fashioned magic tricks! Sipping my French chardonnay, for a few split seconds I see a table of 20-something Korean friends watch magic at their table. Childlike smiles and a soft patter of applause ripple across the restaurant. The engine room powers up around 5.30 pm. Rich aromas rise from the highest quality ingredients. Customers come back for the ribeye in bone steaks with horseradish sauce. Heads turn, you hear the sound of cooking and laughter as the plates arrive and conversations simmers. Some people have lingered over beers past happy hour. Andy Kean approaches and politely asks a guy two empty seats down from me to cut the deck, choose a card, show me, then replace it on the pile while he has his back turned. Jack of Clubs. The Laurel and Hardy card trick unfolds from 1967 and 2 minutes of shuffles and subterfuge later the Jack is back. I wonder if this was what an old speakeasy would feel like in the 1930s, maybe somewhere in downtown New York – but with perfectly cooked Australian Wagu steaks? Small bunches of flowers wink at me from the dark table clothes. No, this place was just an anomaly, here and now, to be believed for the sake of enjoyment.
