Reviews of 小扬生煎 Shanghai Little Yum- 北岸店 Northcote
T.
A tiny shop with very traditional Chinese dishes. Special on fried buns and noodle. Very yummy food with reasonable price.
The environment inside the shop is not that welcoming. Only 12 seats available in the whole shop. The door of the shop can't really close properly and so it's windy while enjoying the hot food.

We ordered a combo
𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗻𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 + 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗽
I said “wow” after my first bite of the bun, cos it’s hot and so delicious! There’s literally soup inside the bun and full of meat! The bun itself is so crispy and covered by lots of white and black sesames.
It’s not salty enough to me but you can dig the bun into vinegar for more flavour. ( I wished there’s spicy paste 😆)
The curry beef soup is alright. Good for winter 🥶
Next time I want to try cheese prawn bun.
We went at lunchtime. The store is not so big so all the tables were taken. If you want to go, please pick a non-peak time.

Possibly too traditional for my taste buds. Lots of little shrimp and sea weed in my soup which was nit what I was expecting when I ordered the won ton soup. Clean and friendly place

The best Shanghai restaurant on the North Shore!
Had soup buns (xiao long pao), beef noodle soup and Shanghai noodle soup. Was really delicious and food made fresh to order.

Fried buns are tasty and juicy. Noodle broth lacked some flavour but still good.

I'd highly recommend their pan fried buns - you should give it a try.

Ninety nine percent of the patrons are Chinese. Table turnover is really fast on the weekends, but be prepared to get take out anyway. The food here makes me feel like home.

Pretty cool little place. Food is really tasty and reasonably priced. They got some fermented glutinous rice soup too by the looks. Keen to try and see how it compares to my mum's

Love the food love the staff! 10/10 - the noodles warm my soul!

Clean environment and kind staff. Really love the fried bun. Thin bun and very juicy!!
