M.This is the endgame for Ramen. Definitely the best one we've had. Great service too - very friendly. I wouldn't understand why you would rate this place lower than 5 stars. They make Ramen and they make it good.
V.Unexpected, great find in Orewa! Really great food, service, cosy atmosphere. The tonkotsu ramen was amazing, and coffees were very good too (forgot to take photo, just drank it immediately). Staff were very nice. Only wish it was in my neighbourhood instead!
H.We ordered the miso ramen, tonkotsu ramen, and takoyaki. All dishes were so delicious! Full of flavour and very generous portion sizes too. And to top it off, the service was friendly and welcoming. I'm assuming this is a family-run restaurant - it had such a warm and inviting feel, and everyone we met was so gracious ^^ Definitely worth the half hour trip from the city. ごちそうさまでした !
j.Very authentic Japanese experience right when you pull into the parking lot. They have a Cafe, which was closed when we got there, but we took some cookies to go. (The matcha white chocolate cookies were so yummy and fresh!) It's a small place that doesn't seat many people. The staff were so kind and happy. I got the tonkotsu shoyu ramen and karaage chicken bao. Both delicious!
L.The food quality here is spectacular - the pork has been marinated for hours and has a lot of flavour without being too fatty or salty, and even the rice isn't the usual hard and bland long grain rice, it is similar to Chinese sticky rice, being fluffy and having a soft consistency.
The octopus balls especially are really yummy.
Customer service is amazing, all customers are treated with a smile and it is obvious that this family run restaurant takes pride in preparing the dishes very well, it's not just about making a profit.
The prices are higher than average for the portion sizes, but well worth it.
S.It was the best Donkotsu ramen that I ever had in my life! We also had chicken karage and dumplings. They were really fresh. My friend is very picky about Ramen but he also said the ramen is best in New Zealand. The owner and daughter is very friendly. I will definitely come back :)
D.The Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen was the best broth I have ever had. Good takoyaki too. The egg in the ramen was a little cold and a chashu pork was a little chewy. The overall experience was great, with friendly staff and a good atmosphere.
D.BEAUTIFUL ramen, the best I've had since going to Japan 4 years ago. Cosy seating area, quick service and friendly staff make for an excellent dining experience. I only wish they had smaller portions for lunch so I could come here more often!
B.Delicious takoyaki with generous amount of octopus inside and authentic sauces. Ramen is on another planet - but doesn't cost an arm and a leg. 10/10 recommend to anybody this place is a hit! They only serve pork ramen - check the menu to see non ramen options

Easily the best ramen I've got in Auckland. I had the Tonkatsu Shoyu ramen and it was outstanding. The broth takes center-stage here with incredible depth of flavour that somehow doesn't overpower the rest of the dish. The chashu pork was also quick good, as were the noodles and takoyaki. The one thing that could be improved was the egg; it was a little overdone for my liking, but of course that's personal preference.
The service was excellent too! Friendly wait-staff and the food came out quickly. The price for a ramen is ~$20 which is worth it for the quality; it's significantly better than Ramen Takara or Tanpopo.
I'll definitely be back!

E.Our first time coming to Yawara tonight.
Friendly and kind service was the first thing you noticed when you walked in. The menu is small, but the options available are more than plenty to choose from. We ordered two types of ramen, chicken nibbles and tako yaki. Our toddler absolutely loved the noodles and tako yaki. We savoured the delicious flavours of our ramen soup, the smell hit you as soon as they placed it in front of you and the flavour was indescribable, real authentic Japanese ramen, tako yaki beautifully cooked and the chicken nibbles so subtly seasoned, crisp and juicy. Also treated myself to a beautiful matcha biscuit, baked on site and it was really good, not too sweet nor bitter from the matcha. These people have put heart into their food and it shows. Thankyou Yawara for a delicious dining experience. Highly recommend going here.
N.What a wonderful authentic Japanese experience, eating ramen at Yawara, Orewa. The service was superb and the food was delicious. Be sure to check them out if you want to escape New Zealand for a touch of Japan.
H.This was the best ramen I've had in Auckland by far and the owners were Incredibly welcoming. My partner and I ordered take out 20 minutes before closing which is understandably pretty annoying for a restaunt, however this wasnt a problem. Additionally we were greeted with big smiles and asked to come in and sit down when we arrived. 10/10 I'm coming back for more.

N.Popped in for a quick lunch and was surprised by the calming and minimalist vibe of the back room that enticed me to linger a little longer.
I had the standard miso ramen which had a beautiful balance of flavour and the noodles were divine. Portion size also bigger than expected so the chicken nibbles I ordered on the side, while tender and tasty, were probably unnecessary. Not a large venue thankfully and lovely hosts. 3 big communal tables, I’ll be back with my family to try for an early dinner time incase it gets crowded or full.

N.If you crave authentic Japanese food in a beautiful location tucked away in an ally within Orewa, do not look further. Naroko and her team as warming, friendly and attentive as you would expect from any Japanese person. I have been to Japan many times and this is by far the most authentic and beautifully set out restaurants you will dine in. MUST VISIT. I will always go back here.

S.Really loved our meal at Yawara and will definitely be recommending it to people. The Tonkotsu ramen was really authentic and I really like that they use free range chicken.
It would be great if you could also start using free range pork too.
I would really like to see some condiments at each table- japanese vinegar, soy sauce, and chilli oil would be great. Also, some more japanese mayo to go with the karaage chicken :)

B.Yawara Ramen is maybe the best ramen Ive had in NZ. It tastes authentic and luscious. I had the Tonkotsu but will try the others on my future visits. Fantastic ambience and hospitality. Recommended

A.Japanese owned and operated family business producing their own soup stock - a key ingredient for good ramen. We regularly visit Jp (wife is Japanese) and this shop is authentic with deep flavours. Very lucky to have this in Orewa.
S.Had the shoyu ramen as a classic dish. The soup base was surprisingly rich compared to other places and it's better because of it. A very solid ramen and the soup with its richness on a rainy day is just what you need.

S.Best Ramen place I've ever been to, if not one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. My boyfriend and I come here relatively often and the staff are always extremely welcoming and polite, not to mention they recognise us which always makes the experience more special.
The food is absolutely amazing, and for $20 you get a giant bowl of ramen that is so filling you can't always finish it, not to mention they have delicious karaage and other authentic dishes to try. It's really awesome seeing them slowly expand the menu as time goes on, there's something there for everyone's tastes.
