Reviews of YUN
K.
Amazing food. I had the chefs special peppered beef. It came out on a scolding hot skillet and then I had spicy chicken both were amazing. Staff were super friendly and they charge back to the Ramada suites which is very handy. Will be back
P.
Very beautiful ambience, perfect for having photography sessions as it has a big glass wall to capture pictures in natural light. Happy staff to greet you. Warm Food was served. As it was rainy day, best part was, we were served with warm water, this kind gesture made my day. Thank you so much.
Q.
Yun‘s new seasonal menu first day after months of lockdown! Must try their peking duck roll and donburi with the sous vide eggs!
D.
Had brunch here one weekend and I really enjoyed it. Last time I ate here was more than a year ago, and it was like rediscovering the cafe again. Ordered the Free Range Eggs w Toast and added sautéed herb mushrooms to it. The poached eggs were perfect-- the yolk would just ooze out once sliced with a fork. Flat white was also amazingly good ☕ Food was served quickly even though the cafe was almost full, and staff is really nice.
Loved the whole experience! Will definitely be back 🤩
J.
The food was delicious and the coffee was great:)
Lucky we found parking outside on the street. It was fairly quiet when we visited today.
The restaurant staff were friendly and their toilets were clean 👍
A great place for a meeting or a catch-up with friends.
G.
Went there with some friends and we loved their menu. Food was great, staff were very polite and our order arrived quite fast. Definitely one of the better spots you can find around CBD.
S.
The breakfast was delicious, I got the big fill and it sure did that. Up there with one of the best big breakys I've had. Great coffee and fast friendly service from the girls. Will definitely return as soon as I can!! So good.
금.
Food taste nice. Recently, many cafe is doing chilli crab scramble. Food taste was more than average. Scramble was perfectly made. Only thing to point out was little late making food. Coffee became very cold.when i got.the food.
S.
sooo amazing! staffs were really nice and there new menu was really nice too. i definitely enjoyed my time there, bringing the family next time! i highly recommend:)
S.
Lovely ambience, great scenery of the sky tower, and friendly staff. Tried their new menu and it's awesome! Loved the Peking Duck, Yun Cheese balls and the Chinese pull pork Dumpling! head spinningly delicious!
N.
Amazing, recommended the vegetarian dumplings and their special lunch menu 😋😋 matchä latté delish. Keep up the amazing work Yun, 😊 definitely be back
J.
The food was good, but they don't let you choose how you want your eggs and the portions aren't large. The glasses are really small for some reason and getting water top is inconsistent. The chairs in some areas are uncomfortable, I saw a few groups ask to move locations. The place was very packed and noisy.
H.
There is a variety of options to fit everyone's palate. Overall, I am impressed with the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. I would recommend this place to any of my friends or family.
A.
We came to this restaurant as recommended zomato gold and got the okonomiyaki and the green tea noodle salad. The okonomiyaki was made very well and tasted delicious, arguably better than those made in Japan. The noodle salad wasn't bad but felt a bit small portion wise and made you wanting more. The service was good but I didn't like the small water cups and small water pitchers, which required to be refilled 4 times during our visit. The restaurant is modern but felt stuffy on on the day.
c.
it's been 2yrs since last visit. their menu was sort of korean twist in memory. while it was more international this time. I ordered lamb dish which is sort of mediterranean style, with yoghurt and scramble egg on pita bread. it turned out great. lamb was tender and scramble egg was so fluffy and soft. BF had a beef cheek dish which was also lit. good job!
L.
Amazing food and service!!! Authentic Chinese cuisine!!
C.
A trendy spot if you're looking for a proper meal instead of a quick takeaway bite. Excellent food and coffee with a nice atmosphere.
k.
We went for brunch and was really impressed with the service and serving sizes. I got the creamy mushrooms and the dude got some mince dish that was also extremely tasty. The only reason I took off one star is that the sour dough slices were kind of hard to cut through? Like, it felt like we had to reaaally saw through them.
L.
I visited Major Sprout twice over the last few weeks. It is a reasonably nice place, though the table in front of the fan isn't the most comfortable, and there is a ceiling fan that causes a strobe effect which can be annoying. The food was good, though not outstanding. The fish on the snapper burger was small so for about a quarter of the burger it was just bun and sauce. It was also very expensive for its size (the chips had to be purchased separately). The omelette was a generous portion.
B.
A fantastic little cafe in Auckland that brings some Korean Fusion to brunch/lunch.
It's hard to find the MENU online, so I snapped a copy and included it in the photos!
The decor and atmosphere is great, and the food is really good (with hints of Korean influences).
I had "The Big Fill" - their take on typical big breakfast. It came with Thick cut bacon, lamb sausage, agria (potato) rosti, pork-belly, home-made baked beans, poached eggs, sourdough. This really hit the spot as I was wanting a big meal. The one thing I'll say is that I'm not a fan of home-made baked beans... but this isn't a compliant against the cafe, I just don't enjoy beans at all.
My wife had the Bibimbap, which was really tasty. Not a traditional korean version of the dish, but an updated/brunch-like creation. It's hard to explain.
My friend had the Tteok Galbi Burger, which is like a meatball/rissole burger, and looked fantastic. The meatballs were quite tasty and I had only a slight amount of food envy.
The one thing I might say is that parking could be tough, I'm not from around here so I had no clue.
Coffee was outstanding and they had some epic looking donuts for sale!
C.
Great food with great presentation. And don’t get me wrong, they also taste good. Like the decorations, especially a V shape light hanging on a pole 😆 If the owner saw this review, please let me know where did you get it, thanks in advance!
S.
Big Fill & Beef cheek. My partner love the lamb sausage, it’s really special! The beef is tender! The only point I didn’t like is the flat white, taste like being overcooked…and bitter…But just my opinion, my partner said the coffee is good.
j.
Really friendly staff and the food was delicious. I recommend the pancakes and the smoothies. The smoothies were tasty and very organic 10/10! Finished with a nice coffee and vibe is perfect for studying
K.
Food was really good and nice atmosphere. Just the service that let it down a bit having to ask for water, coffee orders and food. There's a kids menu and they had pens for them to use too. It's tucked away in central Auckland not far from Sky City so parking isn't great even on the weekend.
M.
Nice cosy place with friendly service. The food was alright. Portions were decent but the food wasn't to my liking however the person I went with liked it and this was a repeat visit for them.
A.
This is an awesome place for breakfast. Went here a couple of times, and will be back for more. Their pancakes were awesome, as well as green eggs Benedict. Love the interior, and the service is always impeccable.
J.
My wife and I have been here at least four times and not once has it been disappointing! The food and presentation are amazing! Today I tried the galbi burger and it tasted divine! One of the best cafes in Auckland! Not to mention the coffee is one of the best too!
K.
I'm glad that I went there to enjoy the food. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend
A++
L.
This is my new breakfast spot! Great coffee, amazing menu that is unique, creative and fresh. Overall the food is well balanced and prepared to perfection. The green Eggs Benedict is a new take on the traditional hollandaise version, I loved the thicker bacon, it was juicy and tasty. The rosti was crispy on the outside while soft and gorgeous on the inside. This version left me feeling a little "healthier" than your usual eggs bene!
a.
Excellent place for breakfast. The staff was very friendly. Food was delicious. We were particularly impressed by the pancakes, which was nicely decorated. Such a gem
A.
Awesome food and drinks, been there few times already - exciting menu!
J.
Great Breakfast options and great coffee too , it was recommended by a friend ,, really worth it..
My omelette was a big portion though and delicious
K.
Went here for breakfast over the weekend with some friends and was glad to get a seat without any reservations and baby in tow and our service was good. However I was disappointed with the food. It’s not that anything was bad, it’s just that it didn’t live up to the hype. I ordered the green eggs benedict which was okay. I also tried the pancakes my friend ordered but that was sugar overload for me. I would come back here for brunch again but only because work is close by but wouldn’t travel all the way into the city on a weekend just for the place.
M.
Delicious breakfast! The coconut mango bowl was really good and the porridge as well. Would love to test the rest of the menu as well.
D.
Checked out Major Sprout on a snail-paced Saturday. All the Auckland’s foodies have flocked here – despite its abundant seating the café was full and there were plenty of customers who were happy to wait up to 20 mins... My friend reminded me that this CBD charm is from the same mastermind behind local lunching darlings Dear Jervois – no wonder❗️
Very impressed with the atmosphere the designer has created – it is a gorgeous, big, bright & sleek space with an industrial undertone✨– think large inviting windows, modern light fixtures, luscious greenery, white marble tables and glossy concrete floors...
I ordered Herbed Broken Eggs on Freedom Loaf with Salmon and the friend ordered a Blueberry & Basil Smoothies. Oohh man, one of the best breakfast dishes I have had 🎉 - the freshness of the asparagus and zucchini, the perfect cooked poached egg, the beautiful green sauce at the bottom, the super buttery salmon that instantly reminded me of the sea, the nutty Freedom Loaf (from The Midnight Baker) & the Pecorino cheese❗️The portion was generous and everything was so perfectly balanced, just like Dear Jervois😋. As I happily munched away one bite after another, my friend couldn’t stop talking about how ah-mazing the smoothie was – the best smoothie he said...
It is a café I’m sure to come back to again and again❣️
C.
Good food, very good Service.
A.
Amazing version of a Croque Monsieur. Friend had the porridge which looked spectacular. Relaxed easy service. Nice coffee.
J.
Great food and location in city..
one of the top choice around the area when meeting friends for lunch!
M.
Excellent service, a lot to choose from and overall very tasty even though some dishes were quite large, even too large 😄, nice ambience, a little bit too much noice when crowded
z.
Big surprise for me last night. The owner was amazing, turned off the light to lighten up my birthday cake and sang a happy birthday song for me. She was a super cool girl. The waitress was very nice too, we bothered her few times but she had always been so patient.
Thanks to Yun’s team, I really enjoyed last night.
T.
Great food, great coffee, great service, great atmosphere. Couldn't fault it.
g.
Super cute place! They get crazy busy though, so the wait was unbelievable. Lots of funky stuff on the menu, and prices are as you'd expect from a food place in town. Not sure if I'd come again though, lowkey wasn't worth it.
K.
Excellent. Try a coffee or two, because they make it quite well. Also get the KFC side! Staff are extremely friendly also. Highly recommended
c.
Very trendy spot, beautiful food, fantastic flavors. Well worth the premium price. Excellent decor, nice sunny spot for brunch. Good parking
J.
Consistently good food and service here at Major Sprout. Great vegeterian options available too. One of the wait staff, James, recognised me and noticed it was my birthday - and surprised me with a celebratory cake. Keep up the attention to detail, thank you!
T.
Everything was superb. The coffee, our breakfast and the service👌👏👏well done
R.
Great service, lovely setting, fresh urban vibe with a great breakfast and lunch menu. Top notch!
F.
One of the best breakfast menus in town, fantastic service and an upmarket ambience. Pro tip: get the whitebait fritter...
J.
Good coffee and good brunch food! Great ambience too.
F.
We wanted to try this place for a long time but it was always hard to find carpark nearby. Finally went this week and was surprise carparks were available. However we believe the cafe is now under new management. Coffee is good but the menu is now predominantly a chinese menu. Ordered the spicy wantons, soup noodles and sweet glutinous rice ball. Wanton was OK. Noodle was very bland and rice balls was nice. Services was good but there are certainly better asian food quality nearby in Dominion Road.
S.
came by the other, was a lovely experience. thank you Yun for the delicious meal!
J.
The people there are nice, the food is good, all and all a fantastic experience
B.
Amazing food and great service, so glad i finally got there! only downfall is parking around this area is crazy making it a bit harder to access
S.
Beautiful cafe with lots of greenery. I got the Green Eggs Benedict with Bacon which was delicous
J.
Great food, creative menu, wonderful service.
Highly recommended for a great breakfast.
M.
Good place for a couple! The food is both healthy and delicious. We hope to visit there again to try other food.
N.
Friendly stuff and great menu selections. Will come back again.^_^
A.
OMGGGG SO GOOD!!!! highly recommend the "Not Quite Mince on Toast"!
K.
One of the best cafes in central Auckland. Consistently excellent food and a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
G.
awesome food and service!
M.
Decent selection of breakfast food and cabinet. Good coffee. We got the big breakfast which came with delicious homemade baked beans, eggs, bacon and pork belly (plus more) which was super decadent and a bit different from the standard big breakfasts! Really nicely laid out cafe, has nice vibes.
F.
Great brunch spot! Delicious food, strong coffee and lovely atmosphere.
T.
Kitchen staff member at the pass sneezed into his hands, wiped face and texted constantly without washing hands, while holding tea towel and plating food.
Poached eggs were room temp, rosti was cold in the middle - all appeared to be too briefly re-heated after pre cooking.
Food resembles what it was, but has obviously deteriorated, as has the coffee (no more Flight).
Wait staff were amazing.
M.
Superb. Beautiful meals and a wide range of drinks. A must try.
L.
Had the Green Eggs Benedict with bacon - the potato rosti was very crisp and held everything together well!
s.
Everything ok but the “Himalayan salt” on the table wasn’t Himalayan at all..... don’t try to lie people please🤦🏻♂️
H.
Had brunch here with some friends. The meal was very nice and the service was pretty good. The coffee was great and it was a nice place to eat. We sat down the back but the front was a little noisier. I would definately remommend this cafe and will go back again.
김.
Unique food and bright atmosphere. Wonderful and healthy smoothies must try. My favorite in summer time in this cafe is Asahi bowl which is fresh cool fruits and cereals.
T.
I remember first going to Major Sprout when it opened up and loving everything about it, decor was fresh, food was brilliant, coffee was delicious, and the staff were super nice. Not much has changed about how I feel about this place today.
They are still offering up some of the best Korean fusion cafe dining food you can find in Auckland, this is pretty much where it started.
From the Okonomiyaki to the more traditional Major Sprout styled big breakfast, everything is super full of flavour, and it's very pleasant to sit inside and have a meal because the decor is just as enjoyable as their food.
While this is an oldie, it's definitely a goodie.
E.
Lovely staff and amazing food!
S.
Nice place but very busy. Lamb sausages too spicy for us, need to warm customers about spice levels.otherwise pleasant enough for Sunday brunch.
K.
A fantastic brunch place far away from the touristy area. Crowded on a Sunday morning but the wait is only 20 mins. Absolutely loved the Beet salad. Of course we had to try their famous Buttermilk pancake and their delicious Green Eggs Benedict.
S.
Great set up. Lovely staff and delicious food
M.
The butter milk pancake is really good!
L.
Great food and friendly atmosphere.good for groups, daily Easy to find a car park.
B.
This cafe is a must visit if you love good food and coffee. The service here is also outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Loved it. I had the omelette and it was the best that I have ever had. Absolutely yum!
C.
Great spot for brunch in the city - green eggs Benedict is my favourite and their peanut butter smoothie is also great. Would have been 5 stars but they don’t take Amex, which is just annoying when it’s hardly a cheap brunch.
b.
Delicious food and amazing coffee!
C.
Thank you for taking us as we didn't book and it was mothers day the busiest day of the for hospo. Great service, fantastic food. I definitely recommend the creamy mushrooms.
L.
A few labelled vegan options on the menu, I tried the buckwheat porridge, it was nice and looked great. I particularly liked that they serve sparkling water by default without surcharge. $17 for a bowl of porridge was however a bit on the steep side.
P.
Enjoyed the Chinese cuisine. Service is a bit slow but the food is awesome and reasonably priced.
k.
Nice place,Food is good.
H.
Super yummy food! We tried the pancakes and the mango bowl and I can highly recommend both of them. Even though it was a busy morning, it didn’t take long for the food to arrive.
O.
I'm a huge fan of acai bowls and had to try this one when I came here with the family. Although it tasted great the consistency isn't what I like-it was slightly liquid. Still worth a try if you love acai though.
M.
Had the Duck Rendang and it was absolutely delicious! Great service but it was extreeeemely hot inside the cafe which made our visit really uncomfortable.
R.
10/10 👌🏻👌🏻Fabulous!
C.
Delicious food and a great atmosphere 😋
E.
Good vibe, especially for the CBD. Creative menu with clearly marked vegan options. The miso quinoa vegan bowl is super tasty. Good coffee, but they burnt my soy milk – but that doesn't make them very different from most cafés.
B.
Major Sprout doesn't look like much from the street but has a beautiful, light interior with a very modern look, good attention to detail and loads of lovely plants. The service is friendly and professional, the food is served quickly and is delicious (also the food presentation is pretty noteworthy)
o.
Friendly staff and fabulous food. Had the Green Eggs Benedict - super delicious and very generous portion.
G.
Excellent quality food, and the place is decked out in modern decor. Airy and light, there's plenty of seating and varied table sizes. Food is a little pricey for the amount you get, but it IS great quality.
J.
Friendly staff, good coffee and lovely food.
К.
This is one of my favourite brunch places in the city. The food is great and creative, the coffee is very good 😍
N.
Super popular place, people are flocking here on a Saturday morning. Popped in to grab a smoothie and it was amazing. The staff are friendly and upbeat. It's a good place to chill with good food and vibes.
R.
I saw an article that was hyping this place up about their green tea latte. It looked super cute but it was undrinkable because it tasted like a very bad green vege smoothie. Maybe it's good for someone who likes healthy stuff but not for people like me who came here for the better version of starbucks green tea latte.
T.
getting used to the ways of NZ was a bit hard, while sitting in you don't have to order first, but then again, it all depends on the establishment, this particular one I did not need to order prior, but I did not know. service is excellent, the water is just so delicious
M.
Great Cafe food and food was presented well. A decent amount of choices with an array of drinks to choose from. Pretty pricey but the café's vibe makes brunch better
A.
Some of the best hash browns I've ever had her at major sprout. Well executed menu, at times the service can be a bit slow for example coffees coming after the did has arrived.
E.
Little bit disappointed. The beetroot and halumi salad is pretty small for the price, and taste ok bit nothing extraordinary. The bimbimpap is pretty nice and tasty. Not so many choice for Vegan customers, which they will then prefer little bird unbakery. So few things to improve to become very good. The service however is very welcoming. Average feeling. Menu options should be improved nd increased
C.
Delicious coffee. The food was great and I wanted to try the dishes on the other tables because they looked so tempting. Service was friendly and swift.
T.
Best coffee in town. Period. Have a chat to the owner if you're into your coffee, he's the guy with the moustache often by the espresso machine. They have several blends to choose from, some work better with/ without milk. Guaranteed to take home a ground bag.
J.
Got the green eggs benedict and my fiancée had the snapper burger with agria chips on the side. Delicious flavours and the potato rosti was the best I’ve ever had in my life. Incredibly crispy and not that oily at all. Would’ve scored a 5 but unfortunately the $6 side of agria fries were a total let down. Soggy as. Should be more crisp but that can be worked on.
L.
Very very good food. Hilarious and helpful staff. We loved the vibe so much we were chatting for a long time and never felt pressured to leave.
S.
Nice cafe with some good korean western fusion food.
n.
usually curious this cafe cuz really crowded around lunch time. try to come this morning before gym...
even take away and waiting, a staff served a glass of water. and the best almond croissant in Auckland!!! of course, with beautiful flat white. I gonna have brekky or lunch next time
A.
Great service. Lovely food. Recommend the smoothies. Was in a group and everyone enjoyed what they had. Definitely on the return list. 😀
A.
Food was amazing and well presented. Quite busy but it was a Sunday. Parking is limited a d you need to be lucky to find one!
J.
Just wonderful as usual.
Lovely people, great food and awesome coffee.
S.
Amazing spot for great coffee and a delicious breakfast!! I can recommend the mushrooms and the pancakes (separately of course). Delicious!
H.
Excellent food and vibe. Bonus points for keeping the kitchen open after my friend and I arrived late!
C.
Great atmosphere and really good coffee! Food slightly overpriced but always a huge choice of delicious items! Would recommend!
T.
Great staff. Fast service. Happy to work in with my 4 day rotation diet... Asparagus, pork belly AND prosciutto for breakfast mmmm
J.
so pretty place. very nice food. highly recommend
M.
Green Eggs Benedict! the best Benedict in Auckland!
Of course, everything else is great too!
Definitely worth the walk from the Viaduct!
A.
Love the new asian fusion menu, super vibrant colours and beautifully cook.
J.
Love this cafe! Healthy smoothies and healthy breakfast. Acai bowl tasted slightly different to before.
T.
Serving sizes run on the small size, but you can't argue the quality of the food. Something different for breakfast or lunch. Also the only place open on the street if you're working the weekend
K.
Good vibe and all the food is incredible. Love the mushrooms particularly. Coffee is best in the area.
J.
Best spot I've been to in a while! Great food and a well thought out atmosphere
M.
Came during lunchtime - service was a little slow, perhaps because they were busy, but the food was a delight and I would definitely like to come back to try more of the menu.
R.
Delicious food, beautifully presented. Friendly service although a little slow
G.
Love it. Great food. Helpful staff. Loved the cold pressed juice. Food is delightful.
F.
Despite the strange location the food is delicious and when you’re inside it doesn’t really matter about location. Smashed eggs were delicious.
P.
Excellent food. Credible coffee and a wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended.
A.
Very good coffee and brunch/lunch menu. Very tasty food compared to any other cafe.
O.
Love their food and service😍
J.
I've been here numerous times and have tried an assortment of different dishes and they always come out fresh and tasty.
M.
Good place for lunch..
Chicken was bit dry in sous vide chicken but my colleagues loved there dishes, even if liked the dish over all.
W.

Tasty healthy choices and interesting unique beverages! Their bimbimbap is delicious and so is their green egg Benedict.
A.
Great food and shakes are awesome. Can get very busy though so expect to wait for a seat on weekends.
k.
Great spot for brunch or lunch - delicious food and coffee. Good cabinet selection too
I.
Cool space, great service. Eggs Benedict were good, but the potato fritter was a bit overdone. Worth visiting.
J.
Awesome place but if you are looking for somewhere quiet for a coffee then you might want to go somewhere else. Busy loud hip place
J.
Amazing service. Very yummy food and coffee.
Parking is a nightmare. I spent 35 mins looking for a park.
L.
Fantastic food, coffee and service. Broken eggs delicious. An easy recommendation.

(Translated) In view of the comments I expected better ... The roasties of potatoes that accompany the eggs benedictes are original but far too fatty and disgusting, toast would have been better. Smoothie sprouting green is ok no more.
Come Sunday noon, it was full and very noisy. By cons the place is nice and the service was quick.
