One hell of an amazing Indian Restaurant in the entire New Zealand !! The food just took us back home! Their Kerala fish curry is something to die for! We totally loved their Mysore Masala Dosa, chicken fry & bajji and not to forget their scrumptious Biryani and porotta! Can’t wait to visit again ! It’s a paradise for the South Indians !! Their service is also commendable!!

First time to see a eggplant curry plated this nice, taste as good as it looks. Not overly spiced as many Indian cuisines do. Roti is fresh and fluffy. Partner loved his briyani so much. Downside is slightly overpriced for a lunch menu.

Amazing, authentic dosa and when just the rice that comes with the meal is one of the best rice you've had, it has to be great. A waiter passionate about the food is always a good sign.

Easily one of the best South Indian restaurants in NZ. The owner was polite and very attentive. He took the time to explain each dish as they were served and you could tell that he was very passionate about his food, which is a fantastic sign. The images are of the fried mushroom entrée and eggplant masala (main). I also had the mysore dosa (not pictured) which was as delicious as expected. Thank you!

Amazing meal and friendly staff. Only downside was the absolute garbage human(angry old entitled white guy) yelling at the staff to give him free food and drink while simultaneously threatening to walk out without paying because he felt he and his date hadn’t been served quickly enough. Props to the staff for maintaining composure and decorum in the face of that monster. All on a public holiday to boot. Go for the amazing food and hospitality!

My partner and I had dinner there last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. the Dosa was very good, with two tasty dipping sauces. We had the fried cauliflower as an appetizer and really enjoyed it. I had the duck pepper curry and found it similarly delightful. We'll certainly be back!

An amazing dinner. We loved the eggplant masala and the delicious garlic and garlic and cheese roti. The two guys were so kind to us. We didn’t wait long to order nor to have our food served to the table. Very scrupolous to check the vaccine pass, wearing the masks all the time and the tables are at a good distance so everyone is comfortable.

Amazing to find authentic South Indian food in Blenheim! Beef Dry Fry is a must try. Great Dosas. Excellent Service. Only negative was the Chettinad Chicken which wasn't up to the mark.

The food was tasty and the restaurant setting was quite elegant for a small town... however my two issues were that the food was way too greasy and the service was too slow. Most of the starters are fried and the cauliflower curry was swimming in oil which was NOT appetizing (see photos).

Great welcome and hospitality upon arriving and taking our orders. We ordered masala dosa and we were very happy with the taste and spicing. We got served also nice cold tap water. We really enjoyed this simple dinner.

Probably the best curry I have had in New Zealand, the food is incredible and the waiter was so friendly! They have a great selection of vegan options, I would strongly recommend the Eggplant Masala :)

Excellent South Indian food, dairy and sugar free with gluten free options as well. Flavorful and creamy sauces. Well worth a try. This is our third time dining here. I rarely give 5 stars but for quality and consistency Tamarind has earned them. We are usually dining off peek times when its quiet.

Surely the BEST Indian restaurant in Blenheim. Excellent tandoori chicken, slow cooked lamb curry and chicken mappas. The parotta was soft and perfectly cooked, too. Try the mango lassi drink. It's also beautiful! I honestly couldn't fault any of the dishes I've tried in this restaurant. After lunch, we decided to book for dinner. THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS! My 9 year old son even said it's now his favourite restaurant. The owner and the rest of the staff are very nice and accommodating, too! Thank you for the wonderful experience!

Ordered a butter chicken, spice level hot, absolutely no spice to it at all, and as a spice lover that was disappointing, the flavour was good, chicken was cooked great, with some nice charred bits that added texture and some extra flavour, but that lack of spice ruined my enjoyment, so if you're not a big spice person this is probably the place for you.

The Best Ghee Dosa I ever had. Would definitely recommend for Dosa! Yumm yumm! We had to leave other items and had Dosa again! Parotta was also very good. Avial was not good. Service was late. We had to wait for ~35minutes to get our order to table. That could be improved. We actually went in for Idiyapam, which is the most loved authentic kerala cuisine dish, but it wasn’t available. A bit sad about that!

6 of us arrived towards the end of a quiet Monday night. After a quick table rearrange, we settled in to some fantastic personal service from Denny and Emma. We were entertained by stories of Kingfisher billionaires, Southern India and Ireland. We followed Denny's suggestions for starters and were blown away by crisp crepe-like dosa. The mains followed and comments from the table indicated everyone had enjoyed their meals very much. Most of our group had not experienced Southern Indian cuisine and all noted it was their new favourite. Thanks for a fantastic night.

Gluten free delight! Had the best meal last night at The Tamarind. I'm coeliac and they explained all the items I could eat. We had the lentil donuts, Masala dosa and the Tamarind Special Chicken Mappas. Best Sambar soup too. Yum yum yum, highly recommend !!

Visited tonight and absolutely loved it. All portions were very generous. They have a variety of gluten and dairy free curry options. The southern Indian style was a something a bit different and really enjoyable! Staff were super friendly and accommodating - especially after one of our party spilt a mango lassi, they cleaned it up quickly and gave him another on the house. Will definitely recommend to anyone in or coming to blenheim.

One of the best Indian food restaurants I've ever eaten at. In fact if you ask any one of our kids (3, 5 and 7), they'll tell you that it's the best in the World! Fabulous food and welcoming, caring service. Good price too!

Really nice food but service could be improved. We had to wait quite long time to order, once ordered the menus were left behind on our table and the neighbour table, where people arrived after us, was served before we were. And when our food for three people arrived, it was deliverrd with long intervals in between.

This is far from your typical westernised Indian food, it's southern Indian with a distinctive taste and texture, and that's a really good thing. The staff are super polite and helpful, and I've yet to have a bad dish here. Beef, chicken, lamb, seafood or vegetarian it's all good. If you're tired of Butter Chicken and Korma, or just want a really good meal this is well worth checking out.

The food was great but we seemed to be charged for an extra meal (party of nine), and couldn't resolve the issue from a brief look at the overall bill, so just had to pay in the end. Will ask for a bill first next time... Definitely worth a visit as the curries and vegetarian options are very nice.

The food was very good and it's a far more interesting menu than most Indian restaurants but the food was very slow coming out and the breads we ordered with the meal only arrived as we finished despite chasing them up twice. With the food being hopefully the other issues can be resolved quickly then it would be a great restaurant.

We ordered beef masala curry, kadala curry and paratha on 3rd Jan 2020. It was excellent. The ambience was quite relaxed. I saw some interesting photos from kerala and south india and the staff were kind enough to explain my queries about the meaning and significance of each photo. There is also a cloth decoration that was made by the duty manager that is a head covering for an elephant. Quite cool. Had a lovely time and wish them all the best.
