B.The food and staff are great, but I’m sure other reviews mention that. I think this place needs a special mention for being family-friendly. Their small kids menu has tasty options. They have a small table with a lot of toys for impatient small kids. There’s a large grassy area just outside the cafe’s windows and the playground is within site for older children. Also, the view is spectacular for adults. It’s a great place to spend a lunch on a road trip or have a dinner and drinks with a view, all while the tamariki play nearby.
Oh, and I recommend the empanadas. The staff is mostly South American and this starter is especially great.
S.Most amazing meals, service was out of this world. Valentines menu was exceptional. Can't wait to go back looking forward to experiencing the different food on the menu. The staff are friendly and make it personalized. Fabian has amazing team of staff.

M.Had a lovely lunch today, (Boxing Day 2021). Three of us dined on cheesy garlic bread, calamari, fish and chips, chicken schnitzel, and shared a dish of ice cream, coffee and Baileys liqueur. Served by a charming waitress from Argentina who will soon be a NZ resident. Great food and great service, thank you for such an enjoyable experience!
B.First time I have ever posted but the quality of our meal warrants this. My wife got salmon and I got a 400g steak with a chimichurri sauce. Both were exceptional. The presentation was top class and the quality and flavour outstanding. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

L.The food was delicious! I’m vegetarian and my partner is a meat lover and we both were happy. He loved his T Bone steak and my veganos canelos was so delicious. We watched the sky turn dark behind the mountains while the moon shone. If we weren’t going to a stargazing tour I’d have happily spent ages there, the staff were great and it was a wonderful atmosphere!

p.This is a pretty cool place giving lots of info on the Dark Sky, astrophotos and nice outlook of Lake Tekapo. This was worth 5 stars. We then ordered lunch for 4 of us. We had the seafood chowder, kumara mussel soup, lamb burger and salad. We felt most of the meals were 3 star so we averaged this out to a 4 star rating.
W.A large well priced honest meal, no complaints here. French flare to add to a kiwi meal. Service outstanding 👏
B.It’s called a diner which doesn’t do the food any justice! The view is fantastic and the food was delicious. Our favourite was the Kumera and mussel soup followed by the salmon. Rib marinade a bit too sweet for our liking but a huge serving for something listed under entrees. It’s nice this restaurant is open so late especially when you’ve booked a late night sky tour. Service was excellent from waitstaff and the duty manager going around to all tables asking for any last orders before the kitchen closed.

W.We dined at the Dark Sky Diner and we were totally satisfied. Martha, who was our waitress, was very kind, experienced and professional. She handled our food order correctly and her approach was very friendly. The food, although took some time to arrive because the restaurant was very busy (the mains, not the entrees) was just WOW! I would visit again for sure if I get the opportunity of visiting Tekapo again!
D.Lovely fine dining food with outstanding views of Lake Tekapo, great ambience and it also have local tap beer! We really had a good time and needed some high quality food during our long road trip. The restaurant is connected with the store and the Dark Sky Project which is quite cool so it’s more than suitable for families with kids. Highly recommended!

A.My sister (who's a chef) and I have come here twice and love it. Attentive staff, a we'll thought out menu, well seasoned dishes, plus the mountain view... Can't beat it. High recommendations for the lamb burger, salmon, and the salad.

C.Absolutely fantastic food and service. I had the ribeye and he had the Tomahawk. They nailed the temperatures, chimichuri was herby and paired perfectly. Drinks were lovely, along with the decadent hot chocolate. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and wines. Definitely try this place, but MAKE A RESERVATION.
