I can not sing their praises enough. It's the first time we have been there and we will go again and again. Things didn't start well as I had booked for the night before, they didn't make a fuss of my mistake and fitted us (a table of 4) even though they were clearly busy. The food was second to none, all 4 for of us loved our meals and had no complaints about the service throughout the meal. Thank you again for a lovely night with fabulous food and friendly, welcoming service.

My partner and I dined here last Friday night. The food was fantastic and so was the service! I got the Gnocci Verde after reading the reviews here for it and was so glad I did! It was so delicious! My partner got the lamb as said it was very good also! We will be back for sure ☺️🍝

We ordered and 5mins later had a call from the grandparents that one of our children needed us to come home straight away. My parents raised 4 kids so I know if they say we need to come home, then we need to come home. We told the waitress who talked to the chef who put our order through straight away so we could take our food home with us. We are so grateful to still be able to enjoy date night, albeit at home with 2 kids, but with delicious food. Thank you Fromaggio's, we will be back 👍🏽

Had the montanara pizza, gnocchi Verde and the tiramisu. One of the best pizzas I have had in NZ and the gnocchi was special. Nothing needs to be said about the tiramisu. The service was also brilliant

Did not disappoint. Good Italian atmosphere and well mannered, helpful staff. We had one of the breads to start which was very tasty. I had the Gnocci as a main and it was beautifully flavourful!

The cutest Italian restaurant in Christchurch, I absolutely love the decor in this place, and the service is great. We ordered arancini balls for entree, and shared a pizza and potato skins for our main. Very filling, and well worth using First Table for 50% off - Thank you for having us!

My favourite restaurant in Christchurch. With borders being closed, this is the closest you will get to an authentic Italian restaurant. The best food in Christchurch, service is great and atmosphere in the restaurant is very classy and ambient. Marcus is a legend.

It's hard to find good vegetarian and vegan options in a lot of restaurants, but Fromaggio's has a who plant based menu and hands down the best vegan pizza I ever tried :) Staff were all really nice and it's got a nice Italian atmosphere too. Definitely recommend, especially for vegetarians and vegans :)

What a fantastic restaurant. Wonderful food every time and great service. We've been several times and will keep returning. Best vegan pizza in town! Really appreciate that they have clearly thought of different meals for vegans, not just taken something off meals to make it vegan. And the vegan items are clearly shown, including the wine. Great service, great food. What can you expect more. For our first visit to this place we were a bit reluctant since some of the comment were quite negativ. But we had a great dinner there with friends. We tried the polenta fries and the Italian french fries with mocktails from the bar for a start. Then we ordered pizzas with some steamed veggies on the side. The pizzas were very good and we rated them as the best pizzas we had so far in Christchurch. We ended with some yummies from the dessert menue and the Tiramisu was awesome.

Great vegan pizza!! Absolutely stoked with my visit to Formaggios. The staff were so great and one was super lovely (from Brazil) spoke Portuguese with my partner. The polenta chips are super good and this pizza (can’t remember the flavour) was half and half. Very tasty and enough for two people. Will definitely be coming back when I return to chch. Thanks!!

One of the best Italian restaurants in Christchurch. I had from here the risotto ai funghi, della casa salad, spaghetti bolognese and the yummy ortolana and salmone pizza. Absolutely fantastic. A wonderful Italian restaurant who can help every step of the way. Their staff are kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. The pasta dishes are to kill for! You wouldn't want to die for it because then you couldn't eat it.... A warm homey atmosphere, welcoming staff, fantastic drinks and top of the line food. Formaggio’s is always worth it, from a spontaneous pizza snack to an all out pasta birthday dinner. They have the Italian food you want! I will be going back, and not just because they gave me the secret to getting good Italian wine in New Zealand.

As a family restaurant, Formaggios is hard to fault. The atmosphere is great, and it seems to cater for everyone from fussy children to less adventurous elderly parents. I have to commend the staff in particular, who were so friendly and helpful, and definitely gave the impression they enjoyed their job. As an Italian restaurant, it doesn't quite hit the mark. The food seems to lack the fresh, rich flavours I woud associate with Italian cuisine, and everything just ended up tasting a bit flat. The pizza dough was very 'bready', with a consistency more like a focaccia than the crisp, chewy texture you would expect. If you're after a fun, easy going family dining experience you'll probably enjoy it. If you're after good Italian style food, you'd be better off walking a few more blocks to the Birdwood.

We are the only Chinese customers there tonight. And we did not have much knowledge about Italian food. We were a bit of hesitating to try this famous restaurant before we booked. But it turned out to be such a lovely night with food of heart, friendly staff. We sat in the middle and stayed long to farewell one friend to leave NZ. Very pleasant little restaurant, nice food at reasonable prices. Went there for lunch and it's was very quiet, so naturally staff were very attentive and quick to serve us. Ordered a couple of starters, they were fantastic, should have got more starters! The mains came out and they were pleasant as well. Most of the food is done in a traditional Italian style and it was done well. Would go there again.

My partner and I were on holiday to the South Island and this was the last meal we had before we flew home. We are Vegan and saw that they had a separate menu for it on Google so we gave it a shot. There is a large portion of the menu that is gf or is available as gf. The pizza bread starter was a generous serving for the two of us. I had the risotto al funghi and my partner had the cannoli. Generous servings, tasty and satisfying. Great service. Reasonable prices.

This is an absolutely amazing restaurant. The food is incredible and truly delicious with a menu that is very well varied and has options for everyone and their needs. The waitstaff are friendly and incredibly helpful in a nicely arranged setting with beautiful artwork and an appropriate ambience. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. Great Italian food. Been here a few times now and the food has been perfect every time. The beer batter chips are so crispy and we'll seasoned, they are a must! Lamb shoulder is incredibly soft as well. Can't wait to go back.

Went for a dinner on Saturday evening and enjoyed the ambience and the food. Quite a classy old school decor inside. Had a Crispy Calamari for starter. Not the hard fried crispy though. It was soft, flavorful and succulent. Quite liked the option of a half-n-half pizza for an extra dollar. Get two types that suit you and your partner. We chose to have a Montanara and a Pollo Pesto. The pizza was very nice as well. The blue cheese was good. Easy to find off-street parking as well

An authentic Italian experience! The atmo is warm and relaxing, the pasta and pizza are amazing and authentic, but with plenty of options. Friendly real Italians. Large menu of delicious food. Our antipasto plate was generous. Of special mention were the basil pesto and olive pesto. The mains we chose were chicken, lamb and steak. Excellent in every way. If you are in Christchurch and love Italian food you won’t be disappointed.

Best pizza I have had in a long time. I have had takeaways from here twice in the last fortnight and it was amazing (and must be even better if you dine in and eat the pizza while it's still fresh and hot). I ordered the Gnocchi Verde, an exceptional dish in every way. It was generous and flavoursome with a tantalizing melange of classic, succulent pieces spiced with subtle chorizo slices. My party is still singing the praises of their dishes and my two friends, recently returned from regular visits to Italy, were over the moon to be introduced to Formaggios for the first time. Went there last night to celebrate my husbands birthday. He loved the gnocchi verde and said it was absolutely delicious. I had the carbonara which was very rich, so much so I couldn't finish it! our 7 year old had the fish and chips off the kids menu which he said were really yummy. They looked crisp and delicious. He couldn't finish it all either so they packed it all up for us happily. Can I just say that the service was amazing. They were lovely to our son and attentive to us, even putting a candle in our tiramisu and singing happy birthday to my chagrined husband. I giggled at that. Very warm and friendly and we will definitely be back.

I was quite dissapointed by the pizza. I mean the base was not even close to Italian standard. The rest of the ingredients was ok but you don't normally want the pizza to be hard to bite, it should be soft and solid. The restaurant is not the cheapest and seems to be quite busy so maybe my expectations were just too high. But anyways the pizza wouldn't be like that in Italy.

The food is moderately good. The Ravioli was undercooked so more firm than al-dente at the corners. The filling, however, was delicious and was of a good serving. Chicken Parmigiana was well cooked and presented. As a desert choice the Lemon Tarte is fresh and flavourful. The base was a little heavy and stodgy but take that out of the equation and it is quite a refreshing dessert. Service was below average initially with the wait staff walking away part way through taking our dining order (to organise the drink order). It is a popular location with good patronage at the time we dined. We will go back and try the Pizzas.
