Absolutely delicious dinner. Went out to celebrate a recent achievement and we definitely overordered but every bite was brilliant. Steaks cooked over coals is a great draw card and something that really makes the food that little bit extra. I'd say this is my favourite place for steaks in Christchurch hands down. Not cheap but well worth it. I'd also recommend the bone marrow, breads and dips, duck fat potatoes and ribs. Just everything I ate was amazing. And the parsnip puree and parsnip chips is a great accompaniment to the steak.

Absolutely incredible experience. highly recommend this place for steak and dessert lovers, I had a T-bone steak that came with a bone marrow and it was cooked to perfection, finished with an amazing brownie splashed with a bubbling caramel sauce plus they offer the best customer service, their staff is very professional and very knowledgeable of the meals. If I may add the Chef/Owner was very friendly and I had the pleasure to hear his humble beginnings. Over all it was a great time and I thank Jay and his team for delivering a quality experience and luxurious food, will definitely come back for more. 🙂

We found this Jaba Grill and Bar! All the meals are delicious, whether it’s beef, lamb, French fries or desserts, the prices are very reasonable, but the quality of the meals and service are excellent value for money, the waiter who ordered us was very kind and also served us I recommended red wine suitable for steak, and our family is quite satisfied with this restaurant.

Great food, staff, and owner! We had a great new year's dinner here. And the best steak so far we have ever had in NZ. I'm glad we chose this restaurant for new year, it was a fun night that we almost didn't want to leave. Thanks for that great night! We will definitely be back again :)

My husband and I went here tonight, I'd been about three years ago and had a gorgeously memorable meal - it took me far too long to go back! But, after 2.5 years it did not disappoint. Fantastic service - our server was happy to make suggestions when asked and obviously knew the menu well. Our meal was bloody fantastic, the steaks were cooked just perfectly and the accompaniments were great. Everything we were served was outstanding and exceeded our expectations. Its not cheap, but its great value considering the standard of the meals. Highly recommended and we hope to go back with a bigger group soon to share the steaky goodness!

05/03/2021. We dined here early on Friday evening and were very impressed. Hubbie had the Wakanui 300g Sirloin medium and I had the Hereford 300g rib eye medium rare. Hubbie's steak was probably more medium rare than medium, but he liked it even though it was a but rarer than what he was used to. I found mine perfect. The ambience of the restaurant was very relaxed and the meals came out promptly. I think for the two meals, washed down with 3 beers between us for $119.00 was on par with anywhere else we have eaten and was all in all very good. We would definitely dine here again.

Relatively small joint in a cosy corner of Christchurch but the steaks are fantastic. Ordered sirloin and rump medium rare which came out nice and juicy. Worth checking out if steaks are what you are looking for. Service staff were really friendly and well.

Had the dry age rib eye, was lovely. Great crust on the outside and juicy and how I like it. Some places don't get the crust right so this is not an easy find. Fairly priced too. The wife had the salmon and it was very fresh and juicy.

Throughly enjoyed my Fillet steak, with mushroom sauce - however the side dish of honey glazed carrots and beans did not live up to expectations - they had clearly peaked some time before we got to see and taste them. The ambience and the service were very good. Unfortunately, some of the things we ordered were a little disappointing: the mojito was mostly rum with ice, it tasted nothing like a real one; the halloumi and carrots dish was fine but the baby carrots were almost raw and tasted and looked old; the squid was good but deep fried (it wasn’t mentioned on the menu); finally, the angus prime rump was very good.

AMAZING service from Cyrus! Literally came out from the kitchen to serve us when he saw us ready to order.. unreal! The girls were lovely too and checked our meals were okay, twice! Steaks were great, so yummy! Haven't even left yet but had to get this review in. We will definitely be back 😁😋

Poor service downgraded the food. We went in around 6pm on a Thursday night, one server present with 3 tables (including us). She was overwhelmed and took awhile to get us table water and then take our order. While in the middle of taking our order, another table got up to leave because they were upset she had not taken their order yet. She stopped taking our order and ran off to take theirs, then when I asked to continue our order she said that the other people needed to leave soon so she had to take care of them first. After 45 minutes, our food arrived. Angus steak fillet was pretty good however the sharing plate had a soft cheese on it that was more rubbery than melty. The server continued to provide terrible service (even though she now had one other server helping). She continually reached across the table to grab people's plates instead of walking around to politely clean up. We had to remind her 10 minutes after we received our dessert (chocolate brownie was great - plate was hot) that we also ordered a coffee. She then took her time getting the coffee to us because other people were obviously more important. If it were not for the terrible service, I'd recommended this place for a nice steak.

Amazing food...went as a table of 4 and shared entrees of salmon tartare, beef carpaccio and squid and the steak mains were out of this world juicy and delish! Can't wait to return after lockdown!

Fantastic meal! Not too expensive for a steakhouse, The bone marrow starter is absolutely delicious and huge, and the salmon tartare is also very tasty. My ribeye steak was cooked perfectly, and steaks come with more bone marrow which is a nice touch. Only disappointing thing is you have to pay $2.50 for a sauce on your steak. My wife said her beef rib was really tender and had an incredible flavour. The staff are friendly and provide great attentive service. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be going back!

I went with my husband & son for dinner on 6th May 2021. I had the Canterbury lamb rump, my husband had free range chicken thighs & my son had the Akaroa Salmon. The food was absolutely delicious! All 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our food as well as the experience of dining in this place. Very friendly service too. Looking forward to repeating the experience!

Definitely the best beef and bone marrow in Christchurch. one of the best steaks I ever had. It tasted even better than a wagyu. Very well precise doners in charcoal grilled oven with so much of flavour bursting on the palate. YOU COULD TASTE THE BEEF FRESHNESS ON EVERY BITE!!! SERVICE WAS EXCEPTIONAL BY THE LADY MANAGER. Delicious pork ribs and steak. Our steak was overcooked(ordered medium) in the first time and they offered to replace another one which was perfectly done.

The food was absolutely delicious! No complaints there at all and the menu has a great variety, meat was cooked perfectly and a good selection of wines to match the foods. On the night that we visited however it seemed as though they were under staffed in FOH. We waited 25min before being asked for drinks and over an hour for food. There were other customers who were also waiting similar lengths of time. The real let down was the staff did not seem to be aware that people were waiting and seemed to be a bit sassy when they did bring out the food. If I could give a rating on food alone it would be a 5* and i'd love to eat their delicious meals again however not sold on the long wait.

Its hard to impress me with a fillet steak, but they did. Four of us, all had near perfectly cooked steaks. (personally I like a little more caramelisation, but that's here nor there). I'm a steak lover and I have been everywhere and most places to get that steak fix. But to be an absolute critic..this restaurant by far stands out amongst them all..the best the most divine mouth watering steak meal I ve ever experienced absolutely perfect ❤❤❤ foodwise hands on my heart 10/10..staffwise friendly welcoming great. Downfall need to regularly check the cleanliness of the bathrooms. Other than that I deff highly recommend.

We had a great experience at Jaba Grill and Bar. The food was very good and the atmosphere is nice. The music was a bit loud. We had steaks, salad and fries. The dessert was also very good. The service was excellent. The kids menu is nicely presented in a sheet of paper for colouring and crayons are provided. I could not find many steakhouses in Christchurch that are clearly kids friendly.

Nice enough but not outstanding. From the rave reviews we has huge expectations. We enjoyed our meal, staff were friendly and restaurant well organised and comfortable. Bone morrow starter is delicious and also comes with every steak. Should be a feature on more menus. Meat quality was not outstanding and as others have mentioned its is difficult to get a steak here that's not overcooked. We ordered rare - just to be sure - hoping for medium rate and ended up with n=medium to well done. At a top end steak restaurant medium rare should be standard. Sides were good, ribs were ok. Nice place but we wouldn't walk three city blocks to visit again. Bloody Mary's at the Rydges probably wins out here for steaks.

My only fear is, like other establishments I’ve been to that they take their customers for granted and let the standard drop. We visited for a late dinner on our last night in New Zealand, exhausted from an all-day tour and without a reservation, and they promptly fitted us in. My sirloin steak was fantastic, as was my wife's salmon, fresh as, and locally sourced. There is a great choice of NZ wines on offer, and Australian to fill out the full bodied Shiraz end of the range. The service is prompt and friendly, as I found throughout NZ. Highly recommended.

The salad was well presented and the taste was good with good spices and a fruity note for variety. The fish and the lamb as main course were cooked to the point and the main course was very well presented (only the burning rosemary does not necessarily have to be with the lamb) otherwise pretty tasty. The desserts were also served really well and tasted very good. The team and the boss are pretty nice and met all of our requests, (Original) Wir haben hier vorgestern gegessen. Absolut zu empfehlen. Als Vorspeise hatten wir einen Haloumi-Karrottensalat. Der Salat war super angerichtet und geschmacklich mit guten Gewürzen und fruchtiger Note für Abwechslung gesorgt. Der Fisch und das Lamm als Hauptspeise waren auf den Punkt gegart auch die Hauptspeise war sehr gut angerichtet (lediglich der brennende Rosmarin muss nicht unbedingt sein beim Lamm) ansonsten ziemlich lecker. Die Nachspeisen wurden ebenfalls richtig gut serviert und haben sehr gut geschmeckt. Das Team und der Chef sind ziemlich nett und haben alle unsere Wünsche erfüllt,
