Honestly, the food was better than other Lone Stars I have been to and I love dining at Lone Star. Manchester Lone Star chef got it right with my steak, melt in the mouth medium rear. Thank you 😁. Staff were eagar to please and attentive. I hope you all flock to this restaurant and support them during perilous times of Co-vid, they deserve it.

Wasn't what I expected, kept asking for help with beverages and food, didn't get asked for steak options and ended up with a dry steak, I then complained and they put my left over food in a takeaway container with lil ♡ ☆ and a lil note, very upsetting that no manager was notified about my complaint and just covered it with a ♡☆ gave 3 because the food was good, it was just the customer service..??

Great food and atmosphere. My wife and I went here for my birthday. We usually go to the one in Riccarton, but we're in the city centre and thought to try this one. The food was great and the restaurant was nice. I don't think we have ever had a bad experience at a Lone star restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place

All I can say is "Wow!". This restaurant is outstanding. The service is top notch, even when busy, as they are so friendly and polite. The food is mouth watering to look at and eat as well as being a good price. It's obvious the staff take pride in their work and it all rounds up to the overall experience. I've been here a couple times in the past and it just keeps getting better. Highly recommend Lone Star Moorhouse! ♡

We dined here on Friday 26th November between 8pm-10pm. We were 3 adults and a 10 year girl. Just a spontaneous casual family meal. lone star & staff alway provides a lovely inviting Ambiance which we love being apart of welcoming energy. As a family we come here at least 4 times a year and every time we leave the same impression remains. Thank you for a great dining experience 😊

Table of six for family dinner. We’d to grab our own side plates for the entrees ordered. We’d to top up our own napkins. Lastly when our mains were being handed out, our entree plates were being left alongside our empty glasses. We’d to ask them to be removed or we wouldn’t have little to no space left on the table. The calamari was rubbery and no sides were offered in conjunction with the ribs meal. Plenty of staff, yet no direction and service lacked energy. Although I have to say that our first server was ever so lovely when taking our meal orders.

I had never been to a Lone Star before, but the Lone Star on Manchester was so amazing that I keep coming back, especially if I can bring family and friends along. (Or for a good ol' celebration!) The restaurant has a lovely western American atmosphere, and decorates itself in a way that is respectful and gorgeous! There are a lot of homages paid to celebrities, songs, and the general 'wild west,' even the menu items have clever names such as 'Comfortably Numb', 'El Greengo Burger,' and 'Johnny Cash Stash,'. The food has been delicious without fail every time so far, and vegetarian options are plenty. The service is top-notch as well, the waiters and waitresses are friendly, helpful and have a great sense of humour - they carry the vibe of the restaurant beautifully. Wonderful restaurant. Obviously I will be dining here again, I'm even booking another reservation today. We were very happy with our meal this evening and impressed with the young man that served us at our table. We asked for his name because he was friendly and courteous to us, my 93 year old mother thought he was a nice young man. We will definitely return. His name is Pearce. 😊

Perfect. From the food to the Red Light procedures, the staff were on point. Steak, buffalo chips, and oodles of sauce was piled on our plates to the point of excess. Superb branch, wish it was my local.

Dined here Saturday 27th February. Hubbie had the Kiwi Joker (medium) with pepper corn sauce and I had the Paris Texas steak (medium/rare) with side order of mushrooms. All of it was awesome and a very generous feed. Couldn't eat it all and no room for pudding!! Was very nice, and would definitely recommend.

Too American for me in terms of service. All a bit to smily and overly helpful, comes off a bit disingenuous. Having said that the mains were very nice. I had the venison dish the flavours of which were well balanced and the whole dish was brought together by a rich slightly tangy sauce. The portions werevhuge and I could have done without the cheese cake. It sounded great but lacked flavour and had too much gelatine for my liking. The chocolate work on the deserts looked impressive but tasted horrible! Leave it off if I won't enjoy eating it.

Dined here in a group of 16 during COVID L2+. One of our group was blind and had a blind dog with them. Entry was initially refused for the dog by the on-duty manager but when educated on the law, he changed his mind and allowed entry. All staff were wearing masks as required, they even bought the (well behaved), dog some water which was appreciated. While all meals were very good, be careful of the pricing re upsizing of meals if given the offer of 1 or 2 pieces of chicken. A $32 meal quickly goes over $40 for an extra piece of chicken which wasn’t made clear at that time and wasn’t obvious on the menu. Ribs are $3.50 extra each but chicken wasn’t referred to.

This was my first time visiting a Lone Star restaurant. It was a busy night and we were told that there would be a 25 minute wait so we went to the bar area and waited. We were seated at our table and given adequate time to look over the menu. I decided on the beef burger(pictured) the burger was massive and i had to chop it in half and found it very clumsy to eat. The staff and the restaurant itself were great and I'd be happy to come back and try something else off the menu.

Really disappointed that I just paid $35 for Dixie Chicken and left hungry! My daughter commented that my two tiny pieces of chicken were more like chicken nuggets than a chicken breast as stated on the menu. I usually go to the other Lonestars and have never had such small portions and still been hungry. I let two staff members know how I felt but both were disinterested so I’m not sure why they bother coming over to ask if everything is ok when you have your meals if they really don’t care!!

Went to Lone Star on Wednesday night for dinner. Went in for a table for 3, got sidelined for 20 mins waiting, which wasn't the end of the world. Got myself the beef burger. It was pretty good, the fries were well cooked, liked the edition of HP sauce at the table. Burger itself was alright, didn't really like the hard white parts of the base of the lettuce, but it could be worse. Overall was a solid Lone Star experience on par with every ever Lone Star I've visited.

Had a fabulous evening having a family dinner for a couple of birthdays. My husband mentioned that his steak (Stir crazy sirloin)was the best he had eaten. I loved the Johnny Cash stack chicken. Very tasty. The ribs (Redneck and BB King) were a hit as well. No complaints at all. Recommend Lone Star 100%. Excellent service as well.

The wait staff were efficient and friendly. The burger was fresh and constructed well with the right amount of ingredients. (Pickles were tasty af) The meat was a little bit to close to a rissole taste for me but still a great burger with delicious chips. The chicken burger seemed the better of the two.

We had our Complany dinner last night there. I must say the food , the atmosphere and the effort from the owner and the kitchen staff is great! But it only takes one bad services to not bring your customer back. They were not rude or anything but definitely hasn’t mastered their customers service skills. You go out to places and you see the fittings you know that the owner spent a lot money on it there is hope but don’t use relatives or friends for your customer service if they haven’t got the right attitudes. There was one particular lady acted she didn’t care. Sorry for being so critical but I have to tell you how a lot of us felt. And don’t write back to apologize for it because they didn’t do anything wrong they (your Sunday pm service staffs )probably just haven’t got the right attitude or need more customer service training.

This has been one of our favorite places for a long time. Most the time the sevice is great, but occassionally hit a not so good night. Last night was unfortunately one of those. We were told we would have to wait as there was no space and to go through to the bar. I know this is a thing to encourage you to get drinks and spend more, but going through to the dining room and seeing quite a few empty tables makes you wonder why you have to wait 20 minutes. Our server was also lacking the usual Lone Star enthusiasm. The food was awesome though. I like how it's always consistent.

I've been a few times (events) and found the menu prices to be very expensive for what you get. (dinners will fill you up up) If you spend 40 dollars on a steak, that steak better be the bees knees but it never is. The food is never bad but just not good enough to justify the heinous price!

Came in for dinner tonight. We were seated after a 25 minute wait in the bar. Had been seated a couple of mins when menus were brought over. About 3 minutes after that a young guy come over and said are you ready to order? Normally with lone star we get offered the specials of the night but not tonight just took our orders and that was it. When we both went to the bathroom we heard at the bar one of the waitresses swearing saying the f word so not sure what that was about. Certainly not professional. Not sure who our waitress was looking after us as we had about 5 different people. No names were given or introductions like normal. My partner had to grab a waitress so we could order a drink. The food as usual was excellent as was the dessert. Different service tonight at the lone star which disappointed us. We don't eat here very often and the few issues tonight really put a dampner on it for us. Cheers

Nice atmosphere and good finger food. Great place for a work or social event. They have a great selection of platters to please most food preferences. Have not had the opportunity to dine in for a sit down dinner yet at this location yet but the other location in Christchurch was great.

It's a bit of an institution. Work gigs are great here and the cocktails are good. I enjoy the rowdy ambience of this place. So glad they are still in the same location as they were before the horrific earthquakes. Makes me feel like some part of the inner city survived and then thrived.

I can remember first going to this branch (the ORIGINAL!!) on a school trip in 1991, and having an absolute blast. It's my first time back there post earthquake, so it's really incredible to see that nothing important has changed. the ambiance is wonderful, service friendly and serving size as generous as it always was. What's even more pleasing - the matre-di (spelling!!) was really proactive and helpful. We were there for Charlotte's birthday - and they very proactively helped us to get this loaded up on the Loan Star app (yes we are regular customers at Bush Inn and Spitfire Park). They also helped with the birthday cake we brought along. We had the Nachos (an old favourite!) and I had the venison and totally loved it! A super big well done to the team - my only gripe - the food took a little longer to arrive than I would have expected, possibly due to the large group over the other side of the restaurant. Ribs are good here. Choices of either 6 9 or 12 ribs. Booking a table is strongly advised here as there is usually a wait as it takes a long time to get your food order. Usually 30 to 45 mins wait to get your food. They have a loyalty app which is especially good for first time visitors as you can get $15 dollars off or a free dessert.

Nice place and a bit of a buzz on a Friday night, a popular place. I had the ribs and they were real tasty and you can choose your portion of 6, 9 or 12. The 9 was more than enough for me. The only down side was the large entrance way and in winter the cold draft as people come in and out goes right through you if your nearby.

It was a nice experience.Meals are very filling.The onion sauce was something I wasn't accustomed to very tangy somewhat more bitter than sweet.Very deliciously cooked were the steaks and the pork ribs. An option of seasoning on the buffalo chips would be a good idea to trial and perhaps a ramekin of an offered but optional complimentary hollandaise sauce for any egg choices,the 2 F.R for $4 side dish. I didn't order the Slaw but my companions did and I was told that was very good. Good work lone star staff 👍👌✔

I find Lone Star a good place to get a decent meal when you're not looking for something special. I had the steak for my main and pavlova to finish. It was good and very filling. Quite noisy, so not a place for an intimate meal. The staff are friendly and attentive.

All the meals were delicious and flavoursome. The chicken breasts and confit duck legs were cooked perfectly (still moist and succulent). 😋 The dinner was great and we had an enjoyable evening.
