C.Surprisingly nice food and service, despite only having one staff by the time we got there. He is friendly, super patient and helpful when taking our orders. The pizza is also great, it’s got crispy crust and not too soggy or oily, we really enjoyed it.
A.Friendly staff, great chill atmosphere in the store and their pizza is super tasty. Any time we've had an issue they've been quick to sort it out with great customer service. I used to hate tomatoes and tomato based foods but Sal's legendary sauce was the one that converted me because it's just that good. I'd definitely recommend the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and Garlic Knots.
J.My partner and I ordered off uber from Leitchfield store. I couldn't decide between Fanta and lift for my drink so left a comment of "surprise me". Boy they did NOT DISSAPPOINT XD absolute legends!

L.Good large pizza that is thin crust and flavourful. Improvement would be in consistency of the dough, maybe a little crispier to hold the pizza together and fresher tomatoes to be used as the base.
p.Shout out to the lovely Saturday night crew for bathrooms so clean even Gordon Ramsay would be proud. Fantastic pizza & pepperoni scrolls as always. Such a good spot for a tasty dinner date before a gig.

J.Sal's review update of the day (because if I re-reviewed it every time I came I would look like a stalker): I have never been disappointed by the music at Sal's. Likewise for the customer service (but I think they somehwat recognize me now), the service is still as good as it was the day I found this gem.
j.Best pizza ever. I have been living in Christchurch for 6 months now and I have been to sals every 2 weeks without fail. It has always been 10/10, never once disappointed. The classic margherita is the best but the new Nonna is very close.

s.Have been to New York but sadly never tasted NY pizza. Sal's pizza is definitely not like your average Kiwi pizza place. Their pizzas are quite different. In this case different is good. There was 2 of us and we ordered 2 pizzas and that was plenty. We could barely finish them. Service was fast and friendly. We had a chat with the staff. We were happy with the pizzas and would definitely go back.
A.Great place for pizza. Always come back here: the staff there is great. Plus look out for their different deals for each day of the week. It's not even too bad to sit in and enjoy your pizza although we usually take away.

E.I'm from New York and came down with my family to see some of my family, they thought they would take us to Sals and see if we thought it was any good and it was awesome! For a pizza shop in small NZ it is almost just like NY pizza. The garlic knots were also very yummy and I really enjoyed the buffalo wings. Will definitely come back next time we are in NZ! :)
M.I had the Pepperoni Pizza from Sal's, and man was that thing huge!
However, I was disappointed with the pizza and I thought it lacked flavour and spice considering it was Pepperoni. It was also very greasy. I certainly would be keen to go back and try a different flavour pizza next time, but based on first impressions i wasn't overly impressed.
Service was great though, and pricing was fair for the size of the pizza.
C.One of the best slices of pizza in all of Christchurch, such a unique taste, and my personal favorites gotta be the normal cheese or the veggie which is always has fresh and delicious vegetables.

There's basically no way you get pizza from Sal's and regret it. I highly recommend for anyone that loves great NY style pizza.
B.Fantastic little place! I ordered a Pepperoni and Veggie 1/2 and 1/2 pizza with the Mozzarella sticks and it was all very delicious. Unfortunately it is very small so it fills up quickly and gets noisy too. The pizzas are huge so it's good to share plus the Mozzarella sticks are an excellent starter. Fun urban NY themed interior!

R.One of the best chains for Authentic New York pizza and has some of the best pizza sauce available. The pizza is simple yet delicious, has a small amount of seats to eat in but the pizza is worth it every time. Garlic knots can be a mixed bag with varying quality in each knot. Definitely miss not having this place where I live as it would be a regular haunt if so.
S.Big pizza for a reasonable price. But limited toppings and the pizza (we got half pepperoni/half sausage) was very salty and oily. I was surprised this was a let down given all the positive reviews.
While I'm sure Sal's is more "authentic" - Hell Pizza runs circle around this place in terms of flavour and options - and pretty comparable in terms of price.
Edit: Sal's is honestly the best pizza in Christchurch. Less is more in this case. Outstanding pizza and their hot wings with blue cheese dipping sauce are superb. 5 stars
A.Great environment inside, music playing, heaps of selection. Good flavours on the choices we had. Love the garlic knots!! Hard to find these in Christchurch. I like that you can get a few flavours to make up enough pizza to eat. Be warned, a half a pizza is HUGE and could feed 2 people if you eat garlic knots too. Will return. Has vegetarian and vegan options also.

T.4.5/5 from me :) Good pizza, and genuine NY sized (ie: super large compared to NZ pizzas), good concept of buying by the slice too. Has seating to dine in and a cool atmosphere, although being a little small.
The missing .5 from me would be that although the pizza is good, it's quite pricey, and it's not "super amazing omg best pizza in the world" good, at least for the price. But it's definitely a place to try out. I'll definitely be giving it another go sometime :)
b.I heard the pizzas were good. Last went to a small store in Auckland years ago and loved it. This store didn't disappoint. Good value and superb 'pies'. Great stuff
M.Great pizza. Garlic knots are to die for - especially with the blue cheese sauce! Sometimes they get the order wrong so check your food before leaving but this is a minor thing compared to the great food!
S.Great pizza, good service. Our family of four shared a single pizza so they are fairly large. Topping coverage was adequate... could have had more cheese but then when is there ever enough cheese on a pizza.

z.Went there for dinner with my partner. Got a table no problem and dude on front counter was friendly. Got a Bronx pizza (pepper and Italian sausage). It came out in about 20min as advised it would. Pizza size is large authentic USA sized large not NZ large which is good. I thought the pizza was ok, but nothing amazing. I found the Italian sausage too salty. It was better than dominos etc by a good way, but costs more too so you would expect that. My partner really liked it. So I'll meet in the middle and give it 4/5 for pizza.
C.I absolutely adore Sal’s!! It’s legitimately the best pizza you can get in NZ, full stop. Pair that with their ranch being absolutely on fire, I continue to get Sal’s every time I have a hankering for pizza.
M.Sal's pizza is the best new York authentic pizza in CHCH. Why did I not rate it 5 stars you ask. That's because it doesn't have as many flavours as you would won't but the ones the make are really really good.
E.Authentic New-York style pizza even down to the topping options. This style does tend to be more oily and salty, so just be aware of this. Excellent crust that is crispy on the outside with a good chew and a touch of doughiness on the topping side. If you sit outside, watch out for the seagulls.
J.Pizza was ok was extremely oily and very little chicken on it. I also got my order way before friends I was sitting with. Was a very long wait between mine and theirs at least 15min. This is based on my latest experience there. First time I came it was pretty good I think it was just very busy this time maybe needed more staff they were battling.

Great range of Pizzas. Big pitchers/ jugs of beer available. ESPN sport on the TVs.
Smallish venue but good booths that sit up to 6.
