I thought it was a bit hard to find the place coz they share the same space as cascade. Inside, it has a warm and comfortable ambiance. The food was good but not mind-blowing. The staff were very friendly and service was outstanding and for that I'd visit again and also because I loved their cocktail menu.

Awesome food and service! We ordered ribeye, short ribs, and southern crispy chicken. All came so beautifully delicious!!! We loved our orders! Our cocktails were also great! Highly recommend this place and we will def come back

The Soul Quarter lives to its name. Comfort food to the soul executed well. Scrumptious steak, medium-rare venison, melt-to-the-mouth braised short ribs, crunchy crispy chicken burger with fries. Attentive and smiley wait staff. The background 60s music is pleasing and familiar to many. Good hospitality all-round. Ended a perfect family dinner. Once the orange cones around High St and Manchester st are removed the place should be easier to find.

Great Atmosphere, sometimes great food. The food has never been bad, but the last time wasn't as outstanding as our first 3 visits. Wouldn't hesitate to go back anytime, especially if you are paying, invite us and we will come. The atmosphere is comfortable, stylish and relaxing. The meat is perfectly done, the desserts are great. Portion sizes are good.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I recommend the venison. Cooked to perfection.

Food was pretty good but quite overpriced. We had the duck breast which was quite generous but had weird condiments (cold mushrooms). The beef ribs were nice and very tender. Enjoyed the desert (brownie) and was an overall pleasant dinner but not worth the full price.

We went with First Table and really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The duck liver pate was amazing. We had the steak and Venison. We enjoyed the vanilla cream dessert but not so much the brownie. I loved the dim lighting, candles and romantic music.

Nice friendly atmosphere with low lights and you get a good view on the upper level. Mirrors help see the bar and food was served fast. Recommend as the service is topnotch

Great food and service. We had 1 of entree, 1light meal and 2 main meals which are delectable. We have finished all Of it

The quality of the food was outstanding, very impressed. I love a good steak , and there's melted in my mouth with all the other flavors on the plate. Compliments all around from fellow diners .It set the sceen for a great night out in town.

We was invited to first table this evening by our daughter here. What a hidden gem. Attentive friendly service. Food was amazing. Every plate was a feast. Shared 4 desserts which finished the meal off so well, couldn't even choose our favourite they were all soo delicious 😋

The food was phenomenal. Cooked to perfection, with not a single edible flower out of place. The taste, texture and presentation was immaculate. The real star of our evening was our server Vee who radiated warmth and embodied faultless customer service. I will absolutely be returning as soon as possible

One of the best experiences at a restaurant for me and my friends. The food and service is outstanding, alongside some of the best cocktails. You can't miss this place next time your in Christchurch! A++++

Went for dinner here last night had the steak and it was so perfectly cooked and the bone marrow was to die for. They were really accommodating of my Coeliacs (gluten allergy) am planning on coming back next week.

Nice location and great service. My partner really liked his venison tartare and the beef short ribs. I ordered the gnocchi, which was burnt. I informed the waitress and she said the kitchen staff were "struggling tonight." Not the most ideal outcome when you are paying $37 for gnocchi....

Nice restaurant with beautiful atmosphere and good food

Wow, the duck was outstanding and the beef burger so full of flavour. The whisky cocktail with trimmings is a meal in a glass, and the wine list superb, thank you

Been here twice now and loved every single bite of my meals! The 2nd time around, my venison came a little bit rare than medium rare (how I ordered it) and our waiter forgot to mealcheck, the meat was still so good otherwise and my partner and I enjoyed his steak on the bone very much. Nitpicking aside, their beef tartare and their big bowl of crème brulée will always be a few of my favorites from their menu!

Would appreciate some non bread oriented options in the light meals - however the sharing plates were fantastic and generously portioned. Great attentive service

Well how do I explain this. I read the reviews before going so had certain expectations. But Soul Quarter exceeded those. The staff are great, going above and beyond to deliver excellent customer service. The food was amazing, and there were so many things on the menu that I would really like to try. The music was great as well I will be back, again and again and again, trying all things on the menu. So I went back and it was just amazing again. Some new items on the menu. We all had a different entree which we shared, and a different main. Generous portions, and the staff was ever so friendly again. The duck liver paté was exceptional, as was the venison tartare. And for main the venison and the steak were sensational. If you want to support your local, this is a very tasty choice! Again we shared started, unfortunately the paté and tartare were no longer on the menu. But the pork rilettes were a great replacement. Love the fact that we received additional corn chips with our fondue without even asking for it. We will keep coming back here!

Excellent food and service! There was one ingredient that my wife is allergic to and wasn't on the menu but they made a replacement when they realised what had happened. The beef dish was tasty, especially with the marrow, but the meat was surprisingly sinewy. Chicken waffles with the agave syrup were amazing, venison was the best I've ever had, so back up to 5 star experience for me 😊

Meals been cooked very well, just 🍔 burger pinky in middle, we been charged full price of cocktails 🍸 with out alcohol for kids, doesn’t fills like fair

Great location, nice place and good feeling about the ambiance. Friendly and helpful personnel. Good service... But prices are rather on the higher range and what is in the dish doesn't explain it. Not worth the money we paid.

Had to wait for a few minutes to be greeted this evening upon arrival, single waiter for the evening and he was not rushed. I had the burger as did my daughters boyfriend and the kids had the steak, nicely presented and cooked to their liking. Entrees of lambs kidneys and fish pate did not disappoint.

Pleasant atmosphere and vibe. The food was nice. The steak on its own was mediocre and I could easily turn my nose up at it, the only saving grace was the bone marrow accompaniment which raised the steak level to good.

The food we had was lovely. But,....one, yes you read that right, 1 person to take orders, pour drinks and take $$. Plus the tacos Thursday advertised on the website was ....'sorry, we aren't doing that now'. The one person on duty was absolutely lovely but no single person can cover all bases so no 5 star rating

First visit here, very well fitted out and very welcoming and friendly staff. Shared a starter of Chorizo Queso fondue. It was a tad underwhelming and bland with no discernable heat or spice as expected with chorizo. It was a cool evening and very cold nr the opening entrance door. Our average start was unilaterally raised by top notch mains of short ribs and THE best, most tender venison rump ever. A shared dessert of pumpkin pie we could not finish, delicious as it was. Almost 5 stars had the fire been on and we were warmer but may just be us. All in all definitely recommend to all. Thanks Soul Quarter

Used to be called New Orleans and was terrible. The difference is like night and day. Top notch service and great food. Will be back.

This was the single best restaurant meal I’ve ever had. Perfect steak, nice dessert, and very attentive, friendly and helpful staff. Could not recommend more highly.

What a wonderful service, the food was amazing. Had one of the party who had some dietary issues, and after taking order came back to tell us that what had been order had something on the forbidden list for this person. They offered an alternative(not on menu) that did not include the ingredient. Will come back.

Very nice food. We came with a group of four on a Sunday evening in Winter and shared a wide selection of their menu. Will be back!

Soul Quarter provided at the bare minimum a top of the shelf meal. Constance and Vee opened their arms to welcome us into their chic, yet cosy and still very art deco space. The venison main was absolutely to die for, it took us to heaven and back. Sticky date also tea-rrific. Best part was Constance shouting the whole meal on the house (or maybe that was my hot date…!). 11/10 work, thank you.
