A very pleasant meal for five. Steaks were cooked to perfection, chicken with risotto for our gluten free friend was delicious and the pork belly with the apple was really tasty. Desserts were yummy. Definitely recommend the lemon tart. The staff were friendly and efficient. Great view out over the harbour basin. Thanks for a good evening.

Absolutely wonderful dining experience. Food was impeccable, staff were incredibly attentive, beautiful atmosphere. I cannot fault my dinning experience and would highly recommend to anybody considering visiting.

Got there on a Saturday ,they were busy,but the owner found a table for us.This day was our wedding day, 18 yrs earlier.on a old tug with a viking long boat trying to save me.the manager,staff were tops . Food 🥑🥝 the best plus our 🍷🥂 full.We won't wait to long for our next visit.David

Such an underrated coffee destination! Parking, away from city crowds, great coffee, top notch scones & amazing staff. Oh, thumbs up for the music too!

Enjoyed the best seafood platter we've ever had. The wait staff were great, including wine recommendations. They managed my husband’s dietary restrictions faultlessly as well. Unfortunately the boardwalk along the back of the car park was very slippery (there was a heavy drizzle) and I slipped and broke my ankle! Not quite how we planned to end the evening….

We decided to stop in for the novelty of eating our lunch in one of the little glasshouses set up for outdoor dining during the Covid-19 restricted services. Were glad we did. We had fun with the setting and even though there was a bitterly cold wind blowing we were warm in the glasshouse with a little heater and a water bottle. Didn't need the rugs available. The food was brilliant and service superb. Really enjoyed it and can recommend trying out the glasshouse. We will eat inside next time I suspect now we've had our fun outside because the atmosphere and setuo inside looks awesome. Can't wait to come back next time we're in Dunedin!

This place has become my favorite restaurant. A great place to meet friends and family. The amazing port enjoys friendly staff. The food is absolutely amazing. (Try salmon and charcoal grilled broccoli), I really believe it.

The service, restaurant view and food presentation are the reasons I am giving this restaurant a 3 star. The food (favour) was below average to average which I was disappointed about. I guess I was expecting that 'wow flavourful' experience.

I came here at about 6 for dinner, a good time as there was a short wait. We ordered a steak which was a little bit overdone and unevenly cooked so maybe if you like it rare tell them to err on the side of undercooked. The fries that came with the steak were very nice. We also ordered a nice side salad and stuffed mushrooms. They were okay. We ordered cheesecake and brownie for dessert. They were both very tasty, the cheesecake was rich and the brownie a bit more refined.

This place is always welcoming with great staff. Their Dine- in experience is wonderful and Comforting with family, friends and loved ones with reservations priorly made. Had dinner here on New Years Eve with my partner and was blown away by how impressive the service was. The food was pretty decent but the service took it to a whole other level. Heath in particular was the one waiting our table and he was extremely kind and considerate, checking back every so often to make sure we were okay and didn't need anything else. Overall probably the best service I have ever seen anywhere. Heath deserves a raise for his outstanding service

Had an amazing experience here with my family over the weekend. The staff and the service were faultless. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was great. Definitely coming back for the seafood grill next time we are in town. Tha k you for having us Harbourside Grill.

We had a fabulous meal at Harbourside- it was so difficult to choose what to order as so many great options, both seafood and meat. Service was good too. Would only say that serving sizes were a little too big!

The Seafood Grills come with 3 types of sauce in a huge plate! Love the fresh squids and prawns! The ribeye steak come with the stack potatoes which was amazing! High standard in Dunedin and never get disappointed. Thanks the lovely host who take care us a lots.

Harbourside Grill has become our favourite Dunedin restaurant. No matter what time of day we always receive friendly service, the staff know the menu and are not afraid to go find out if they dont have an answer. The kitchen is great at creating/altering meals to cater for my friend's many food intolerances.

What a beautiful surprise it was. We went here for NYE dinner with not too high expectations but we must admit that dinner was really really good. Fish n Chips and Pork Belly highly recommended. Other guests on our table had the mushrooms ragout dish and they were all raving about it.

The food are so yummy and fish they use are fresh once just came out of the sea..

I love this chicken waffle. After i had it, I really wanted to get a waffle maker lol. 😂😂 I really enjoyed it and hope you guys try it.

Great atmosphere and service with good food.

Fantastic location right on the waterfront of Dunedin, with easy free parking beside Monarch cruises. Beautiful view of the harbor with boats tied up alongside the wharf. Highlight is their fried chicken side, which is a very decent feed for $12.50. I said the better the size of their chicken, the better their review.... so well done Harbourside, 5 stars! Will be back!! 😂

Just fabulous meals ...we will come again

The service was very good. The chef agreed to change the menu to suit our needs. The waiter was very friendly as was the duty manager. The food was finger licking good. All made for a very enjoyable dinning experience. Highly recommended.

It was an absolutely fantastic dining experience, the food was delicious and all five of our mains came out together, the view, ambiance and wait staff were all brilliant especially our server Emily who joked and talked. Also didn't feel rushed at all.

Great! We had the Shellfish plate. Well prepared and I could have lathered myself in the cream sauce it was so good! The Shellfish were well prepared. We also had the lamb encroute which was a shockingly large portion. We gobbled it all down as it was so yummy. Also had the fish and chips, very good.

all though my wife and i only had fish 'n' chips it was nicely cooked batter was crispy and golden beautiful staff were helpful and friendly atmosphere was nice sunny looking at the harbor

If you don't mind a short distance from busy centre city, then this is awesome. Food was delicious and wonderful service. We liked the ocean view and not being crammed in with others.

Friendly staff. Ordered a beef brisket sammy and it was a just bit overseasonedand i would expect a bit more veges in it to neutralise the flavour. Chips were superb. Overall it was a good experience.

I absolutely love the food here and we have been here several times because of it. The staff are always friendly and show you to your table like royalty. If you get a window seat, the views can be beautiful. The meals are always large and super tasty. There is a warm atmosphere about the place. Don't forget to check out the dessert menu - scrumptious 😉

Have been a regular of this restaurant for over 4 years now. Although sad that some of the my favourites from the 'old menu' are no longer available on the new menus, the fare does not disappoint and always exceed my expectations. Cooked to perfection, with great variety and flavours, coupled with good service and ambience, highly recommended to try!

Awesome atmosphere, food and staff. I have a toddler and they were very accommodating! They had toys and drawings to keep him entertained. Would be back for more! The ribs and pulled lamb were the best imo.

Amazing experience here, from start to finish we had a great time. The food was exceptional, tender juicy meat full of flavor, and really good staff. A nice outlook by the harbour, with a happy atmosphere. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Staff and service fantastic. Food chips were a bit to salty and the sea food chowder had fish scales and bones in it, which my brother in-law wasn't to fussed about.

Mixed grill has to be one of the tastiest I've had in years ! My partner had the cauliflower steak and loved it...we will book earlier and get a window seat next time

Friendly staff and good service. I was there for dinner and had salmon which was delicious. The sides were a let down though but overall an enjoyable meal.

Not sure what went wrong there. I have been several times and never had less than 4*. I had fish cakes and they were excellent. Sorry about that.

Plenty of parking outside, booking is only really needed for large groups. Spacious and airy inside, the restaurant is on one side of the kitchen and the pub on the other. Very friendly people and the food is consistently good quality and value for money. It's my families 'go to' place for occasions like Mother's/Father's Day etc.

Top marks for this restaurant been before went back with friends and was not disappointed staff fab and full of life and fun, food great.

Coffee is usually bitter tasting here but otherwise great for a snack (wedges and fried chicken were excellent). Relaxed atmosphere and not crowded. Scenic view of the harbour.

Friendly staff provide a warm welcome and efficient service. Quiet with a pleasant atmosphere, good coffee and wonderful views of the harbour. Family friendly with tables always available as a little bit off the beaten track situated between town and St Clair, away from the one way system.

I was absolutely blown away by the customer service, the gentleman whom served us had a fantastic sense of humour and was very polite. (Granted we only had coffee, so I can't comment on the timeliness of the order as others have in previous reviews) Overall I would recommend this place to be on your 'coffee to do list'

Service was awesome, meal took a wee bit long but when it came out it was delicious

Dropped in here for some lunch. Did the squid. This place sits right on the water front, 10 feet or so. Big windows to enjoy the view but not cold, which is important. As i sat there an elderly couple on folding bikes coasted to a halt and came in. This place is a nice place to fit into a ride and its right on the cycleway into town. The accoustics are bad, so you can have a quiet conversation without having to talk over background noise. Staff are tidy and attentive and the prices weren't a shock.

We went for a lunch time meal on a Friday afternoon. Harbour Side Grill has a relaxed ambiance with a fab view. I had a lovely rosé but my mum ordered a wine that was on a board but then was told they had sold out so a bit dumb with that. I ordered fish and chips. The triple cooked chips and aioli were yum but the coleslaw seemed like it was just from the supermarket. The fish was tasty but kind of just tasted like deep fry, needs a bit of jazzing. Service was sufficient.

The restaurant layout was lovely on the inside with plenty of seating outside also. Views looking out over the harbour. My roast beef was very nice but did get caught out by not realising that you have to order sides like vegetables separate so was still a little hungry at the end.

Had a great Lunch, Fish of the Day, was lovely, great staff, great service all round, will be back again and recommend this place.

Fairly average food and coffee, with an above average price tag. - burgers were very basic for the price tag. - large plastic plate used for fish of day which is just not upto par given prices.... - wine listed on the specials chalk board was out of stock on our arrival, and the board was still not updated on our departure an hour later.

Great 'kids eat free' special and happy hour. We enjoyed our meal, kids enjoyed colouring in and the cool nautical decor. Staff were great, awesome location.

While it was nice, and the staff very very plesent our meals came out a bit cold and over an hour late. We had a big group of people so maybe that had something to do with it... Slightly less busy night would see this place getting 5 stars.

We had my partners dad's 85th birthday on the 15/07/17 at the harborside grill. I'd like to thank the staff there for a first class meal and for the looking after everyone at our table. I'd recommend the harborside grill to anyone, and yes I'll be going back next time I'm in Dunedin.

We decided to come in (sans kids) and have a leisurely Sunday lunch. Was not disappointed. Fantastic service and attention to detail. Was not overly busy, which was good. Food overall was nice. The pizza base for the Gardeners Pizza was crispy and authentic and loved the pumpkin, kale, and feta combo. My Fiancée had the soup & burger and said it was delicious. The food has definitely improved here since our last visit.
