Absolutely the best place to dine out in Hamilton, staff are incredible and friendly, the service was amazing, the food is next level and the atmosphere is stunning. I'll visit every time I come to Hamilton without a doubt.

Nice restaurant setting in town with the river views outside . Lots of helpful staff on board meals came out quick and had lots of flavour even the fries had the right amount of salt and were nice and hot.

Very nice food different style of ordering order small dishes to share surprisingly you didn'thave to order alot we asked the wait staff to help when ordering, awesome cocktails the barstaff seem to know there drinks, a great selection to choose from. Friendly wait staff but due to the masks you have to get them to talk louder, it maybe because of the industrial look of concrete rafters and walls which means it was very loud, the night we went we had some twenty somethings in our party and they were struggling to have conversations hence the 4 stars. Will go there again.

I got the meat platter, olives, cheese and pate and my friend got the sticky chicken and duck fat potatoes. My friend loved her food, I wasn’t too impressed with what I was served however. Everything was okay, but not worth the 60 dollar bill (just for the charcuterie) I had at the end of it. The pate was very oily which was a little off putting, and the meats were just okay. The Le Fromager cheese was also good. The spicy mustard sauce however was YUM, so I do have to give credit for that because it was seriously good. It’s a very nice setting, but overall music was way too loud couldn’t hear anything my friend was saying and in my opinion, a bit overpriced. Also I had 2 sips of my cocktail which I told the waitress was not very good and was still charged the full 18 dollars… so didn’t leave feeling very happy about that :(

Our go to every time we head out for dinner or drinks, the food is insanely good, every single item on the menu is amazing, highly recommend the croquettes. Added bonus the staff are great, food comes fast and the bar staff know how to make a wicked whiskey sour. A must visit for anyone in Hamilton

Great indoor and outdoor spaces, with a view down to the river from the large deck. Modern decor, though being brand new and recently opened helps, and a good menu. It was busy without being crowded on the Friday lunchtime that I visited, I guess the locals haven't found it yet and as it's down a bit of a laneway, it's a little bit hard to find. Quick service and delicious food, small portion sizes, overall it's well worth a visit.

What a great spot! Enjoyed a fresh cocktail whilst perusing a varied menu of tempting goodies served for sharing if you simply can't make your mind up. Original vegetarian options too and accompanied with pickled carrots, onions and more. The service was above routine as well, we didn't have a booking and tables were tight but we were still made to feel welcome and were well cared for as we waited for a table to come free. There's a large and inviting terrace overlooking the river which I can imagine will sizzle in summer. I'll have to come back!

Enjoyed a visit to Mr Pickles with a friend. An absolutely phenomenal experience. The aged sirloin was cooked to perfection and easily the best beef I've had eating out in Hamilton. Or anywhere else in NZ. The accompanying crackling was excellent and the dessert devine. Front of house staff were friendly, competent and attentive delivering excellent service. The lighting and environment created a lovely atmosphere for a relaxed conversation. Drinks were fantastic as well, with cocktails mixed to perfection. Add into all that that it's very reasonably priced for what it is and you've a winning recipe. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

Mr Pickles is one of Hamilton's best eateries and bars. It has a New York loft vibe that you would normally find in cities like Melbourne or Wellington. During the day, highly recommend sitting outside and overlooking the Waikato River. The food is modern bistro with a seasonal twist. Highly recommend the salmon & prawn tartare to start, followed by the grilled scotch with millefue potato, caramelised garlic & onion jus (so tender and delicious) and rounded off with one of their exceptional desserts. On this visit, we had the sticky date pudding with Duck Island vanilla bean ice cream & espresso martini. This place truly oozes urban-chic with a personalised approach (thanks Mat). Even better, their kitchen doesn't close until just after 9pm, so don't panic if you're struggling for a late night dinner venue. A definite Hamilton must-do when you're next in town!

Excellent drinks list and a great ambience on a Saturday night. The food was individually delicious but we did the trust the chef menu and it was packed full of very heavy dishes with very few vegetables. It would have been nice to add in a few lighter dishes!

Great way to spend your time at level 2. Stand out dish - roasted cauliflower perfect with a hurricane and espresso martini. The service is impeccable - special mention to Jonathan who was a rockstar during our visit today.

This is the best stop in town for food and drink. (Though you should go to Wonder Horse after for one last cocktail). Incredibly kind and helpful staff. We sat at the bar and every single person working there chatted with us and helped us out over the evening. It’s tucked in a corner down at the end of a hall. There is mixed indoor outdoor seating with a great view. Charcuterie was the fav for food. Big portions with interesting local ingredients. Particularly the deviled eggs were outstanding. There’s nothing negative to say. Go here.

Had lunch here on Friday and was very impressed with the friendliness, knowledgeably, and quality of service from the staff. Our group tried the chef's selection, a range of different foods, many of which I have never tried before, and we all enjoyed the variety. A great place to frequent, and i must try the dinner menu. The bentwood chairs get a tad numbing though.

Everyone and I mean EVERYONE talks about Mr. Pickles so I had to go try it. 100% lived up to the hype! The sticky chicken is so tasty, the smashed potatoes were super crispy and the gin of the day, oh yeah! Absolutely winning combination.

Wow, delicious food even though my food palette is very basic. They have the best ice cream sunday that I have ever tasted. It was vanilla ice cream with caramel popcorn, sauce topped with corn flakes (I'm drooling writing this post so good)

Great venue in a prime spot in Hamilton. Fantastic in summer in their open courtyard and inside with the views of the mighty Waikato in winter. Tapas type dining with high end beautiful dishes and fantastic cocktails. Their other side business the Bearded Weasel is amazing. If you think the chicken is good, you need to try the cauliflower dish. Omg! Taste explosions.

Food was good depending on what you order. Bone marrow is a definite no go. Don't get that. Gnocchi was good. Vegan jackfruit had kewpie mayo. Duh. Some of the cocktails are pretty good. Do try and rush you through. Loud and fun atmosphere. Would rather a few drinks than dinner.

Tucked away in a beautiful spot by the river is this lovely establishment. Dinner with friends last night, the food was ok. We had a lot of shared plates but some of the dishes were quite bland in particular the gnocchi.The service was great initially, there was a guy at the entrance that was awesome really welcoming and full of energy. Our waitress really looked after us too, then she must have finished for the night and the two other people I encountered were not so. One guy in particular I felt was quite rude and arrogant, spoilt the end of the night. There are lots of really good places to eat in Hamilton and in comparison to other restaurants that would be of a high standard, for us the experience didn't warrant the price paid.

Very nice atmosphere, great location, and reasonably priced food. Some of the staff were a little dismissive, but you never know what's going on in someone's life, so it definitely didn't ruin the experience. Will definitely visit again.

Very impressive kind staff from floor and the Bar area attended, seated before 5 pm not busy so our orders came out very quick. The food tasted very dark/strong to much alcohol drinker may be, we did not drink so we tasted the food very salty unfortunately. Pricing were a bit too high to that style of food. But we enjoyed lovely relaxed atmosphere. On Tuesday the next door Duck Island Icecream was closed....we wanted to pop in after.

It was so easy to book our function and the staff were very friendly and accomodating, even when we made a few last minute requests. The food was delicious and it was easy to cater to a large group with a range of dietary requirements. Excellent food. Everything we are was top notch and came out very fast. Wait staff were all super friendly and helpful. Ambience was pleasant but a tad loud. Sound system was a bit intrusive and sounded like it needs a tune. Also all the furnishings, plates cups etc were of really high quality and nice matching sets, except the cutlery looked like it came out of the local 2nd hand shop. I couldn't really care but it just seemed odd. Overall would definitely recommend anyone visit, still a 5 star experience.

Guys, the Gone Golfing is amazing. Especially when you get it on a Dutch crunch. Anytime I'm in Petaluma, I will always make my way over here. The portions are good and the service is always quick. Maybe we just hit them on a bad night or a new guy but it was a real shame. A dark and stormy is not that hard to nail the wall spectacularly. Rework that cocktail menu guys. They look great but the execution lets down the libations. More spendy options too, with better quality grog.

I have a number of food intolerances (including gluten and dairy) and the staff were friendly and caring, making sure my health was supported and the standard of my meal was not compromised. We are very impressed. We are here on holiday and are very pleased we wandered into Mr Pickles for the best meal we've had in a long time. Highly recommended.

This place is so great! Stunning aesthetic, with a nice view from the patio! Went here for a wedding reception so admittedly wasn't probably eating from the standard menu, but I can testify that the quality of the food is top notch and the service is superb! My partner and I went to the Sunday Supper collaboration with Wonderhorse - WOW!! A real dining experience, not knowing what you're going to be served. Each course was amazing, with personal highlights being the truffled potatoes and the dessert. The cocktails were like nothing I've ever tasted and matched the food perfectly. The ONLY negative was that we had to keep our coats on because the restaurant was quite cold - we'll know to layer up for next time! Keep it up Mr. Pickles, love what you're doing!

Great atmosphere, excellent food and very friendly staff. Mr. Pickles has definitely raised the bar for dining in Hamilton. Although I would like to see more pickles on the menu as the name of the restaurant may suggest.
