This is really great dinner. The food was delicious. Place is very clean. Service was great. This has to be my favorite Indian restaurant so far. Will be back to try some other dishes 😋.

Had a nice meal here. My friend is celiac and was able to get a curry that fitted her diet. Very nicely presented and not over priced staff were good as well. Good flavours not fussed on the naan bread.

Great Indian restaurant. Service was top notch. Food was as an Indian curry should be. We got the banquet and was not disappointed. One small let down was the saltiness of the lamb chop starter. But the lamb was tender. The chicken vindaloo was definitely Indian hot!!

Yummy yummy yummy!!! We have eaten at hundreds of Indian places but this was really something special. The Bamboo Lamb was mouthwatering and the Indochina style chicken was sticky and glorious. Compliments to your chef! Also, nice decor and cozy warm, even for such a spacious restaurant. A must visit in Hanmer! 11/10

Absolutely devoured this meal. Easily the best Indian food we've ever had. Fresh, flavourful and delicious. The Veg Manchurian is a real standout, the naan is super fresh and not oily, the smashed Samosa goes to another level, and the curries were divine. This is a must visit if you are in this part of the country.

We had dinner here on a Tuesday after a relaxing dip in the pools. We did not have a reservation and the 2 lovely ladies kindly accommodated and seated us. The interior is lovely. Rustic, industrial, and warm interior. The seats were comfortable. We ordered the premium platter, zafrani chicken masala, butter chicken with basmati rice and gulab jamun. true magic started. Course after course was just so delicious and satisfying. It was so good that I blurted out the line which I rarely use when eating out which is "please send my compliments to the chef". This is by far the best indian food I had in NZ. The plates also came out warm as it should. We just had an issue with 1 flying insect which was addressed promptly. Will definitely be coming back when I visit Hanmer Springs again.

Honestly the best Indian cuisine I have had! I would drive to Hanmer just to eat here! The staff are really friendly, we had a party of 9 and the meal still came out reasonably quickly.

Flavors of the 4 curries I ordered were delicious although all of them were overly sweet... very sweet.. I ordered 2 chicken dishes and 2 lamb... I got 4 chicken dishes.. I had chicken biryani.. it had 5 pieces of chicken and all rice.. all dishes I ordered medium heat and I got mild.. I went there due to rave reviews so I will try the food again next time I am there and see how it goes.

We had Lamb Biryani and Mango Chicken Curry. My patner is not a keen indian food eater but I convinced him enough to try indian curry. He has not had any indian food for like 20 years. He said his curry was absolute 5 stars out of 5. My biryani was moist and full of flavour, good serving size of lamb. His mango chicken was very good too. I don't normally like mango chicken curry (I am more of vindaloo person) but I can see myself ordering one too. We will definitely go back before heading back home. (Even my partner is keen to go back!) I have tried many different indian restaurants in chch, I could say Spice Village is one of top. Polite staff/owner too. Highly recommend.

Excellent service, yummy food, Ensure satisfaction!! Interior was unique and attractive. Its a year old restaurant so look new and lavish form inside. It was amazing, the staff are so friendly , the food is absolutely delicious. I would highly reccommend because the food is absolutely amazing!!

We really enjoyed our dinner- we ordered the bhaji as a starter and then shared an zafrani chicken, cheese and garlic naan. The curry was absolutely the highlight, and the atmosphere and service was excellent. Highly recommended

What an incredible meal! I googled what was available for delivery because we just sold our car and I was too tired to cook. I had never tried Spice Village before, had only been to Indian Springs (which is also very good and has a different selection which is great). Since it came up with delivery I thought I'd give it a go. At first I was disappointed because I always go for Saag Paneer or Palak Paneer when I go for Indian food, but saw neither on the menu. Everything else sounded delicious anyway with lots of veggie options, so I figured I'd go a little nuts and order a whole bunch of different stuff to try and see what I liked. I wound up spending $65.50 for just me! And well.... I liked everything I ordered. My favorite thing was the item I was most skeptical about which was a great surprise (Veg Manchurian). The workers are really really great too. I put in my order online because I don't use a cell phone, and realized something went wrong when it said my order was finalized but I never put in an address. So I hurried to track down where I'd put my old sim cards, had to make something to open the dumb sim slot of the 9 year old busted screen iphone from the cabinet, bought credit which took 10 minutes because of the busted screen, and then called the shop to hear that they weren't able to do their usual deliveries at the moment due to staff shortage (I don't know why that wasn't online on the third party website that does their online orders, it said free delivery over $50 still. Maybe I missed something somewhere in my rush to get food asap lol). I felt so bad when I finally was able to call them because I had to tell him I would come in, but I have no car and it's a 40 minutes walk. And guess what he did? Delivered anyway! What amazing service. After the whole process of hurrying to get a working phone I was stressed out and feeling bad for the trouble. I was prepared to ask them to fridge it for me and I'd get it on my lunch break the next day but he said he would bring it to me, and I am so grateful because it was SO good. Just ate some leftovers before writing this. Delicious food and really kind, understanding, and great service. Thank you guys so so much! Will definitely order again, and highly recommended. I had ordered the Veg Mughlai (medium heat was great with the creamy sauce, and not too spicy for a white girl), the Vegetarian Platter, Garlic Cheese Naan, and the Veg Manchurian (my favorite). I did not love the samosas from the platter as they were fairly dry as samosas seem to be, but still tasty. I dunk them in sauce anyway and the flavour was nice. The naan might just be the best naan I've ever had out of the 3 countries I've eaten Indian food in too. Thanks so much guys! Can't appreciate you enough. It really made my night, and after being exhausted again from work today, coming home to the leftovers was really great too.

Nice atmosphere, good service, very decadent, creamy vege curries which can be made vegan. They did bring out a buttered roti when I had specifically ordered roti as the suggested vegan option, but they replaced it promptly with a plain one. Family friendly.

Really nice Indian takeaways. We ordered chicken vindaloo hot, chicken tikka masala mild, curry chips, and onion barges. Most of the order was awesome, but the barges were more like pakorars in looks and texture, but the rest of the order was great. Would recommend and would order again❤

Great fresh, authentic food. Paneer was big and tasty, curry had chunks of onion and capsicum which was very nice, garlic naan was very light and fresh, plenty of garlic. Samosa Chaat had plenty of flavour and had a little bit of spice. Always my go to whenever I am in Hanmer

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting too much from this restaurant because of the location. But trust me, this restaurant BLEW MY MIND! The decor, the food and the staff.. I've no words to describe. None of their dishes disappointed me. I really enjoyed every single bite. Let it be chilli chicken, fried rice or tandoori chicken. Absolutely lip-smacking! Kudos to the chefs!

No one checked how ut was going or if we needed anything and it was expensive for what we had. Had better food and service elsewhere for less.

Went here on a whim while on holiday in Hanmer Springs. Food was a pleasant surprise. Possibly the tastiest Indian I've ever had. The curry chips are awesome. Highly recommended. Check out my photo of the samosa entre. If you are wanting a light dinner I suggest the samosa at $10 with a side of salad at $8.00. Good price and it was enough food.

I had called them and asked them for a special request which they could of easily said no to as they don't offer it but they went above and beyond for my request their service was amazing and friendly. I'm coming to hanmer from last 6yrs and I always try new place, one lady in cloth shop told me there is new indian restaurant in hanmer and they are doing well and we stay in alpine lodge where i ask a one of their staff which is good place to dine-in for tonight and that person also recommend Spice Village, and our experience was they serve quality food with variety of stuff to try, restaurant food is mouth watering and beautiful Moderately restaurant in town. Staff behaviour was also welcomed. Good Place with this Variety of dishes to try.

Food was good, service was bad. After ordering my food I got the entree in 10 -15 minutes which is acceptable. After finishing the entree in 5 minuts I had to wait 55 minuts for the main course which was simply rice with a curry. After 55 minuts they served me aswell a plate that was still dirty. Even though the food was not bad, the waiting time made the overal experience mediocre.

Must visit this restaurant whenever you are in Hanmer Springs. I went with my family recently, and we ordered Chiken Tikka Masala and Paneer Matka with lacha pranthas. Everything was so delicious. My lacha prantha was crispy from outside but soft and chewy from inside, exactly how I wanted it to be. We will be back whenever we are in the area again!
