We have been to Gengy's all over the North Island , this one is right up there with the best but with twice the room . The variety of food was unbelievable . And did i mention the sea food it was so fresh . The staff throughout were of the highest quality . The system that was in place once you are seated had been will worked out . They give you a card with 2 # on , table # & guess # . You go select a variety of food take to BBQ give them your card and go back to your table and wait for your meal to be delivered . No waiting in line , you wait relaxing at your table sipping on your wine aahh .

A really enjoyable night out, the service was great, very polite and welcoming. The table service was efficient and well received by all of us. The way of making up your own meal to be cooked is a truly great idea, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Being a birthday it was nice how the staff all got into the singing and acting. We could not fault any aspect of the evening and will definitely be returning. Well done to all the staff 👏

It’s all-you-can-eat with a difference. Food is cooked while you wait. There’s pancakes, seafood, meats, ice cream, jelly, vegetables, and a great selection of sauces. The place is also licensed (cocktails, wine, etc). The kids loved the options and combinations. Will visit again!

I visited on March 7th 2022 with family and I enjoy my time there. The Food was delicious, the atmosphere was amazing but the staff were lovely and friendly and made our visit a wonderful experience. Thank You Gengy's Hastings ❤️

Always good food and well worth it. I think I would stay with just the food and not the pancakes next time as the pancakes are ok. The service was lovely and for being under level 2 they were still great with service.

So level 2. We were given a card numbered each... The sign said only take one meat... Then get the veges etc. Something my husband noticed... Other places we must of missed that notice. Spacious in the food area..cramped in the eating area..I don't think we were 1 meter apart...more like 1/2 a meter from the next table... The food was ok... The staff were great. Friendly. Soup was alright..had corn and chicken I think .. Pudding was ok. The pancakes little smaller then I'm used to at other gengys but oh well...lots of different ice creams...cool...not as much variety of sprinkles...like hundreds and thousands..or nuts. Oh well. Otherwise it was ok 👍

Awesome experience of choosing whst you want them to cook for you. You can go up as many times as you like. You won't go hungry. Like the their system for covid restrictions.

They had really great atmosphere and delicious food. Friendly service made the place feel very welcoming and I just had a lot of fun!

Because of covic19 the service is a little bit slower when the restaurant is full, but the food was good and did not take that long. The only problems was we order pancakes and we waited for 20 min and just left because we have a movie to go see.

What an awesome way to eat. Awesome service, great set up and food was fantastic. Highly recommend to all.

Cool little place. If you want to experience something a bit different try this place. It's cool being able to pick your own meat and all other ingredients and watch the cooks make it for you right there. The downside is having to wait in line. Desert menu can do with bit of upgrade. Overall the place is very clean and the team are awesome. They really looked after us.

Not the best value if you are plant based! Only tofu available as a substitute meat.

Amazing! $33 (cheaper for kids, students and seniors) for all you can eat buffet. Big array of starters and great to watch the chefs cook the mains that you've chosen yourself. Would highly recommend.

Good buffet style meal, where there are some prr cooked items, salads, soups and deserts, plus you can choose a bowl of meat / seafood, veges and sauces they cook for you on a hotplate. Be hungry before you go, and enjoy a couple of helpings!

Man I loved it here! It's just fantastic! We went there for my brother's birthday, and they let him eat for $1! That's Soo cool! And then he got this neat drawing on a plate mate out of icing, and a birthday song played on the radio. And the cooks even joined in and drummed on the grill! The food is fantastic! It's basically a very fancy all you can eat, with everything you could think of. Soup, noodles, bread, chicken nuggets and chips. Everything! And then desert is free, and comes in the form of unlimited pancakes, and yummy ice cream, and multiple sauces too. It's just got the best culture you'll ever see at a restaurant and everyone there is just so happy. It's just awesome really, go there!

Great for a kids Birthday party. Very friendly staff. How it works you choose fresh ingredients from a large selection, place in a bowl along with sauces of your choice and hand over to one of the BBQ cheifs and they cook it quickly right there in front of you. Then go back for more as many times as you want. Very popular place it can get a bit busy sometimes you may need to wait in a line to have your meal cooked.

An amazing restaurant! You get a bowl and fill it up as often as you want on the buffet and then go to the cook and they cook it live in front of you. Drinks are not included in the all you can eat buffet and if it's your birthday you only have to pay $1 for the all you can eat otherwise you pay for each person eating. Definitely try the pancakes with ice cream!

Great to see a restaurant with a very different flavour. Basically a buffet style but where you select your food and watch the cooks bbq it for you. Very clean and tidy and plenty to choose from. What lets it down is the typical buffet style, help your self crowd, who eat direct from the buffet, eat off their plate as they walk back to their tables with plates piled as high as they can get them. Although not the owners fault, this is what puts me off buffets. Food was well presented and staff are very friendly.

Great fun dining out with a friend. Selection GREAT and food FRESH. Have not been back. Will go with my friend again. A unique and entertaining experience watching chefs cooking my food in front of me on a huge wok. Even got to make my own dessert. It was a Thursday night and the place was packed.

Food and service, excellent. Dress code needs addressing, family with three children wearing bedroom clothing, pajamas and dressing gowns not acceptable when your paying way above McDonald's prices. We could all stay home eat fish and chips in our pjs for same ambience. Won't be returning, shame as everything else was great. I'll rate on food and service only.

Gengy's has a special atmosphere. It feels upper-class, but casual at the same time. Professionally laid out, but not in such a way that you'd leave the kids at home. I recently had my daughters thirteenth birthday here, and the attendees all loved Gengy's! In fact they still talk about it weeks later. Gengy's has a unique eating system, where you take a bowl up to the buffet and fill it with your choices of meats, sauces, vegetables and noodles. The talented chefs then cook the food for you as you watch. You can repeat this as many times as you wish to experience a wide range of tastes. There is also a fully licensed bar, and salads etc... Are also available. I'd you haven't yet been, I would recommend Gengy's as a MUST see!

A special occasion found us at Gengy's for dinner. What a wonderful experience - we discovered that CUSTOMER SERVICE is no longer dead. It is very alive and wonderful to experience at Gengy's Hastings. We received a very warm welcome, were shown to our table, then the food selection and cooking process were explained to us in detail. The food was divine. We spent the next three hours enjoying each others company in a very pleasant, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We would so recommend Gengy's as a place to eat, whatever the occasion.

Beautiful food, I had 2 courses, one chicken one shrimp. Love that you can choose your own food/portions. Was disappointed once dessert time came around it had all gone. ...shame.

Choose your food plus dressings then take it to the griddle to have it cooked. Family friendly. Go back for seconds or a different dish. Limited range of desserts. However a very satisfying meal!

Great service by the host. The food is buffet quality so don't expect a 5 star meal. The table clearance of dishes is very slow and at times we had move used dirty dishes to one of the table when eating a second meal.

Food was okay although Iwe had to wait a while to get a table as there was only one person attending to customers walking in.

It was really nice food. Even for vegan or vegetarian people you find a lot. Add to your meat vegetables and noodles and the staff will grill it for you. Few soups and ice cream was available as well.

Good place to have a meal. Its your choice what you want, you get a bowl and put all the stuff you want in in then they cook it up for you on this huge frying pan while you watch pretty cool to be honest.
