S.What a lovely place on a sunny day to have lunch! ☀️🌻 Nice choice of food including kids menu, a gorgeous garden to sit in while eating and so dog friendly! 🐾
Ours got so much attention from the staff and she was brought a big bowl of cold water, plus her own little serving of treats. ♡ We'd definitely come back and would highly recommend.
V.Good place for a bite, but you couldn't call it excellent. The decor is pleasant with plenty of cosy nooks to sit, and there is a beautiful garden with an outdoor fireplace (I'm not sure if it's working, though) and seating. However, the service was suboptimal - table was suspiciously sticky, and the milk jug was dirty on the inside. We were promised water but it was never brought and eventually had to ask for it at the kitchen. The food was, on the other hand, excellent and well presented. I especially enjoyed the in house sourbread.
V.Good service, lovely place to meet up with friends
P.Just popped in on our way to New Plymouth from Palmy North…so pleased we did. The menu was extensive and interesting. Our meals were delicious ( both had small size Hunter Schnitzel with homemade spaetzle) and served up very quickly. Staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere really pleasant. Decor was lovely and whole place was spotlessly clean. We both wished we’d had more time to sit and enjoy. We will return. Thank you Upside Down!
A.What a great little restaurant! Food and service were great! Some good vegan and vegetarian options as well. Definitely recommend and we will visit again when we are back in Taranaki
A.Clean warm, well lit, and friendly atmosphere.
The furniture is a little mix matched if i were to be over critical.
My coffee (Hazelnut Latte (they were out of Caramel)) was very well made and tempered, and my breakfast (Eggs Benedict) was made perfectly to how i like it, eggs runny but well cooked, bacon crispy however NOT over cooked. All served to our table in very good time.

T.Great staff with a great sense of humour. Yes sir I will eat the three remaining chips next time haha meal was outstanding and the staff were very accommodating concerning strudel we took home. The prices were very reasonable. A totally enjoyable night. We will definately be back. 👍👍👍👍👍

M.Mel and Matt had breakfast there this morning, eggs Benedict for Melissa and Matt had a burger with a lovely mocca each and a smoothy each. Will definitely be regulars.
I.Lovely place to stop after a long hike on the mountain. The $15 lasagna was tasty and great value although the fries could have been better. The coffee was good, strong and creamy milk, just what I needed thank you! We will definitely stop here again on the drive to New Plymouth.

A.Friendly welcoming staff. Family dinner for my daughter's 13th birthday. Massive portions. My kids are Austrian/kiwi so appreciated the Austrian pasta and schnitzel. It's reason this restaurant chosen
They had half meal packed in takeaway they so full but not want to leave it. My English dad had roast pork he very much enjoyed. Thanks for pleasant dinning experience and slice of cake to sing happy birthday

M.I had a good time there a nice warm place for a meal, I had the blue cheese hot pot which was very tasty and a good coffee and beer. Nice staff looked after us well.

E.I had the lasagna with chips and salad. The Lasagna wasn't heated all the way through. Super cold on the bottom. The salad had too much vinegar in it. Couldn't eat most of it.
S.Wait time was 45 minutes as waiter forgot to take our order. We were told to sit and wait for service which never came. We went up to counter and ordered. Meals took a long time to arrive and my iced chocolate was forgotten about. Staff on were doing their best but they were just way under staffed sadly. Meals were delicious, decor was lovely and staff were doing their best to be cheerful under immense pressure. A shame our quick 30 minute lunch stop turned into over an hour long ordeal.
C.Visited Upside Down Eatery last week with 3 friends for lunch whilst visiting Taranaki.
Easy to find great signage. Off road parking with good access into the building.
Lovely sunny building very relaxing decor. Staff friendly and helpful, not a large menu but something for everyone's taste and requirements. We all had something different, I chose Ostrich and gnocchi this was outstanding, the flavours excellent and a large size for lunch. We shared Cake between 2 and finished with coffee. Congratulations to Renate and team ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+ My only regret that living in Auckland I won't be able to come very often.
If you live in the area or are passing through I highly recommend you stop for a meal, or coffee and cake if you are in a hurry.

R.It's not every day I give a perfect score, but honestly this place is superb. We were driving from Taranaki to Wellington, just wanted a quick feed. Didn't realise it would be so busy on a Weds! We were shown to a table even without a reservation, and were both given HUGE meals - left us very satisfied. I wanted a vegetarian pasta, no problem. Then I wanted some cheese - came out in 2 minutes. Our French waiter was extremely polite and friendly even though we were dressed (and probably smelled) of hiking.
This place is mid-city service and food quality right here in Hawea. Well done.

V.My friends took me to "upsidedown" for my Birthday.We had a great time,lovely well presented very fresh food,well seasoned and good sized portions. The French waiter Kevin was great fun and very professional.It's about time someone took over this cafe and made a great go of it. The place was packed with everyone enjoying their meals.Great to see after

M.Now been there since lockdown and will take my critique back. Turns out to be a popular eating place for family and friends alike. Often humming with all the patrons. Good ambience.
Good selection of food but mainly things like burgers, Austrian schnitzels, soups etc. but also cater for breakfasts and lunches. Not a fine dining restaurant but most meals rather tasty. Had a yummy seafood chowder which I can recommend. Staff friendly. Prices reasonable - most mains in $20 range but depending on what you order. Have a look on FB for more pics.
B.Great service, friendly staff and lovely food. We had meals off the menu and we were impressed with the selection available from the cabinet. A most enjoyable lunch at a reasonable price.
E.I think it's very lovely and bright. The staff are very nice. And if I could rate it 6 stars I would you can smell it delicious food from outside in the kindness they give you. It's really improved. The customer service is really nice I think it's very lovely.

L.We had dinner last year and that wasn't very nice, went back last Sunday and the Lunch menu was delish, nice serving size so you don't walk out hungry, staff were lovely towards my 2 year old, but we did stand awkwardly at the counter with a few staff walking past and looking at me without acknowledging us

Haven’t tried the dinner menu yet, (but it’s only a matter of time though) We use to go to the owners previous restaurant Stony River all the time for dinner so the new place is bound to have an exceptional dinner Menu available

D.I would like to say that the customer service is really good they have really nice manners, they smile when you walk through the door and as your standing outside when you get out of the car you can smell the delicious food that the chefs are cooking, the place it nice and bright more spacious the coffees and iced coffees are so delicious and I can't wait to go back and try some of their wonderful food that is on the beautiful menu.
