A. W.Delicious food. Great portions, keeping up a good reputation. Our waitress Shane was lovely, very patient, no issues, and she sang happy birthday for mum, which she loved. They did well putting a candle in her icecream! (She didn't want a cake). Creme brulee wasn't exactly the usual, quite sweet and didn't like the berry coulis in it in the end, but would depend on your taste. Everything else was cooked and made to perfection! And we had quite a few meals.
B.Amazing service from our waitress Hannah! Super friendly and very acquainting! Fabulous food and great atmosphere, will definitely be coming back!
R. M.Love Lone Star. Manager Santana goes out of his way to be hospitable & friendly. I had a great steak, but wedges were not how I asked them to be cooked (crispy). Good range of beers especially craft beers. My favourite is Tuatara Hazy IPA. I'm glad they now have this on tap among other crafts. I think many people are learning to appreciate and enjoy a good craft beer instead of the other mass produced rubbish.
N. G.Not too impressed about the pizza, a tad crunchy. Very professional waitressing however very iffy about who had ID and who didn't event though the under 18s weren't ordering drinks. We asked about saving the birthdays cake untill later in the evening and they even out the candles on for us and sung happy birthday made the night really special. Loved the ribs really filling even without sides. And the salmon dish was amazing and huge. Loved the Martinis too. Really good night out.

A.Fantastic to have a place to get a normal dinner to takeaway during lockdown level 3. Chicken was great Chips were yummy and salad just how it always is. The staff were fantastic to deal with and the collection point was well set up.

J. W.Lone Star is one of our favorite restaurants to eat at. First time at the Southland one and you did not disappoint :) catering for my mother in law's wedding, the food was excellent along with the service. A great place for functions, celebrations or just a lovely meal

r. p.Enjoyed my meal I had although I went there for the Lazio of hog there was none and no bluecod meal either that was disappointing the waiter said cannot get the stock which i find odd as other restaurants have it as I said tho the meal I had was nice .

Q.Had an amazing dinner with amazing service, my only issue is that there’s little signage to where the toilets are and if you need a baby changing table you need to ask staff which for people with anxiety isn’t the best because they will try and use the limited floor space in the toilets which won’t work well at all and there are only two toilets that I was able to find

N. S.We went here to celebrate my wife's birthday. The service was very friendly and the staff were great. The Dixie Chicken meal that we had was cooked to perfection with a lovely sauce. The salad was nice and crisp which is how we both like it.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone who wants a good feed at a reasonable price.
A. K.Came in tonight for a drink and something light, all our food for the table was out within 10 Minutes. Cocktails were amazing highly recommend the 'Employees only'. The staff were excellent, and i loved the themed area where we sat. Will most definitely be back.
B. M.Group booking set menu. When we arrived a person at reception said someone would sort us soon. Turns out she was to busy working out what to call a vego burger! So we waited while all the staff it seemed walked past us. Then told we couldn't have bread (it was on the set menu) because it was to hard. Arrived and found our large group had been spread around the outside edge of a room around a table full if the general public.
Service was painfully slow our waitress was new and struggling but very helpful and doing her best. Vego burger girl popped in cause confusion among everyone (not helpful) then 1 loaf of bread arrived for our table of seven. Food was OK but man things have slipped a lot. No leadership present at all very disorganised

K. S.How good 🙌🏾 Went into the Loney last friday to celebrate with friends. What a cool re vamp! Stunning service from the friendly face behind the bar, super fast meals and she actually made sure my dietary needs were met with my food, plus the kumara chips were delish! There's plenty of choice with cocktails too sweet, sour or even just catching them being made can be a cool wee treat as well! Such an awesome dining experience in the bar arena, nice work guys we'll be back in a jiffy for sure!!!

D. C.Meals are large and less would not be questioned. Service was polite, but warmly welcoming. Dinning area could become overly noisy later. Next time would possibly order from "starters" menu. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.

C. B.I had perfectly cooked calamari with a delicious side salad with a beautiful dressing but I was soooo disappointed in the margaritas. They came frozen, not on rocks as asked, no salt (and not that much alcohol in them either). Apparently as it is 'optional' you have to opt in for salt rather than out. Surely that is what a margarita is? Don't bother spending the money. Otherwise we all enjoyed our meals and they were up to the usual delicious Lone star standard.

G.We had a group of 20 very under staffed had to go to bar to get drinks ran out of water and cutlery had to cut and butter our own galic bread had burrito was meeh was filling not spicy bit dry more sourcream and cheese whould be nice we had table booked at 7 sat down at 7 got orders in at 7.30 meals started coming out 8,45 dessert and 9.20 bla blaed till 9.45 home by 10 ive been there 2 weekends in a row had friends bday party service was better on a week night but staff and nice need to update tables and chairs
C. M.Went here for dinner with my partner, service was good, meals were good, drinks were good. I think they were hard on their staff though, the girl servicing us was running around doing everything, maybe they were understaffed. Then when we went to pay the what I assume the manager shouted rudely at one of her staff members "paige" she just yelled paige loud and angry and looked towards us, so "paige" came over confused and asked if we needed something nicely, we said we were just waiting in the que to pay, which she couldn't do anything about...whigj we knew that and were happy waiting. We thought it was very rude of the what we thought was the manager to treat Paige like that hence the 4 star rating and not 5 star.
J. T.Paige was amazing. A refreshing waitress who has above and beyond skills needed, with a watchful eye of a restaurant, not just her section! The type of service I expect when I'm overseas, not here in humble town Invercargill!
And the food was perfect as well. But I'd return for the service alone!

T. S.Extremely disappointing dining experience. Below average food and service. Not the lonestar we have enjoyed previously. To their credit they did not charge for the extremely poor chicken salad after I complained. Come on ILT Invercargill deserves better.
J. N.Amazing food.9 of us went and everybody agreed service was outstanding and that always helps the mood. Meals are a great size but with a little bit of help there was room for dessert.

Its a Two-storey, brick corner building in striking Classical style with ornate window pediments and ground floor detailing; construction date uncertain but possibly c.1878-9 as the Melbourne Hotel; certainly by c.1909 as the Southland Engineering Co. In good condition.
Significance: Good architectural and streetscape values for its strong classical character, detailing and prominent corner position on Leet Street. Potentially good historical value as an early city hotel
