Decided to do a bit of road trip to Invercargill and wanted a nice place to have dinner and I have to say the Saucy Chef did not disappoint. The food was incredible and as someone who had never had Hare before I was super impressed with how delicious it was and how well everything on the plate paired together. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will be coming back as soon as I can!

We had a lovely experience dining here for the first time. The menu is extensive and filled with many delicious options we had a hard time choosing. A fantastic drinks menu also with a many choices. We started with the crispy chicken bao buns which was perfect for us to share - maybe too large if I had it just for myself. I ended up having the calamari stuffed prawn risotto which was delicious and filled with incredible flavours. A little tough but still very very lovely. It was a decent portion size which I couldn’t finish. The wait staff were excellent, friendly, patient and very professional. Thanks !

Huge menu of great sounding dishes. We had the venison and the pork belly. They were both delicious, big portions so we didn't quite finish them to leave room for the dessert as there were some seriously tempting choices there. We had the creme brulee and the teardrop doughnuts- both amazing. Thanks for a great meal!

Yummy food good friendly staff , definitely recommend nice clean environment. Well done! Reasonable prices as well.. We took in a birthday cake for a family member.. the staff kept it in the fridge for us until we we're ready. And they even put candles on it for us 😂 😍

An enjoyable family meal of ten in pleasant warm surroundings, a busy night. Restaurant was not noisy though. An extensive menu made our food choices difficult, our decision making was the only delay we experienced. All our meals were delivered in a timely manner, beautifully presented and piping hot. I had the risotto calamari, which had some amazing flavours going on although one was a little tougher than the other I suspect due to size difference. Portion size was good if a little on the large size. So good value for money. Timing between courses was ideal for our group. Wait Staff were professional,friendly, polite, attentive and happy to accommodate requests from different family members but not intrusive.

Loved the food! Courtesy van picked us up and dropped us off! The atmosphere was great and the staff had perfect etiquette. One of the members in our group had hurt her leg and it needed to be elevated, staff were only too happy to assist in making her as comfortable as possible. Heaps of space around tables.

Awesome place, has a little Heineken bar set up if you have to wait for your table (I’m sure they have more than Heineken) we got told our meals would take awhile because they were busy, didn’t take much longer than you would expect. A kids menu for little ones plus a kids menu for slightly bigger kids. Very friendly staff. Great meals, all very nicely presented. Big place could handle big groups no worries. Nice toilets, plenty of parking. Good work saucy chef!

I use to quite like going to the saucy chef as there quality of food and service use go be good and constantly good. But lately service has been average with simple things like our water ran out at our table no one swapped it out with a new one. The food is now just average my chips that came with my dish were barely cooked and it generally tastes average. But at end of the day I guess every one has a off day maybe?

Visiting Invercargill, my brother and his wife wanted to take myself and elderly mother out. The meal was pleasant. We had a trainee server which was fine. However the most disappointing part of the evening was when the trainee unfortunately lost a glass of beer off the serving tray onto our table. No one at the table was spared and I wore a large portion on my clothes and meal. We did not complain and quickly tried to assist the young staff member to tidy up. My brother paid for the meal and I must admit that I was very disappointed that no staff member, at any time apologised for the incident or even mentioned it! My brother would not have expected anything BUT an acknowledgment of the situation would have been appreciated. It is a shame that only those that complain and create a scene get an apology. As a regular to the hotel my brother was mortified and embarrassed and I felt for him. Poor form Saucy Chef senior staff!

We come down for the Bluff Oyster Festival every May. We pre-book the Saucy Chef every year it is our favourite place to Dine, they have a free shuttle van you can book.

My previous experiences at the Saucey Chef have been varied, and the last time I was there I wasn't impressed at all... however when we went there for Father's Day last Sunday everything was great! We all enjoyed our meal, the portions were so generous that we just didn't have room for dessert!! Well done team and compliments to the chef 😁

The atmosphere is very nice but a little generic nice restaurant from the 90s kind of vibe. The wait staff were helpful and delightfully sassy. All of the food was good, a bit better than average, but not great. All of our meats were rather overcooked and needed a little more seasoning. Overall it was nice but not exceptional.

Went to the Saucy Chef for our anniversary dinner. We hadnt told them what we had booked for. Unfortunately we were placed in a room with a large noisy group. We asked if it was possible to be moved. This wasn't a problem and the staff were so accommodating and super friendly. The food was amazing too. Would definately recommend. Well done team.

What a great atmosphere for dinning every thing on the menu looked absolutely wonderful, I had the blue cod, and Andi had the beef cheeks. We finished with dessert and made for a wonderful evening. We would highly recommend this venue to any one in the area. Keith & Andi

Mains came out within 30-45min of our appetisers. Food was very good with fantastic presentation and just the right portions! Dessert was also delicious. Service was good although we were not asked if all our food was ok once we had started eating. Very clean and tidy. A+

The meal was really really good. My seafood salad was chock full of scallops, prawns & salmon. Not a small meal at all & then we shared the raspberry white chocolate mud cake with raspberry sorbet. The cake was light & went so well with the white chocolate ganache & sorbet. I wanted to lick the plate. The only criticism was that my scallops could have been cooked 30 seconds more, but well done, we will be back again.

The outside can be deceiving. It's not in a great neighborhood and has the look of a Denny's form the outside. Though inside is a completely different story. I loved the decor and atmosphere. The host and waiter was very nice and helpful. The food was amazing. We had the chicken, bacon and corn soup and a pan fried fish over parmesan mash with shrimp, asparagus and crab. Delicious! Wish we spent more than a day in Invercargill so we could try more on the menu!

Lovely restaurant well supported. Lovely ambience, fast friendly service. The menu is really varied and is great value for money. The food was delicious, well presented and served quickly. It was very busy and would recommend making a reservation.

Has undergone a huge revamp and the new restaurant, "The Saucy Chef" is a real gem. Great atmosphere, top meals and excellent service. Certainly much much more than a pub meal. Fully recommend for a good night's dining.

The one star misding is because of the price the food is awsome and generous and well presented and its not often i tip wait staff but our waiter was amazing working in customer service myself it takes alot too impress me the standard of service is devine just go with deep wallets also the seperate bar and eating ares work welk for large groups and the toilets are kept too a high standard but $30.00 for a fried chicken dinner is steep.
