Teppanyaki Takao is outstanding. Parking is plentiful. The staff are super friendly and fun. The booking I made was for 8 people and we sat around the teppanyaki bar with ease. Its a very social way to dine and lots of fun. The menu offers a variety of set menu options. They are extremely well priced. Our chef was cool. He catered to our different preferences and kept the food coming. The salmon and seafood were my favourite but also the chicken and beef were great. The bar is well stocked. The warm saki was great and the 3xvariety of cold saki was excellent. Im definitely returning here because we werecso well looked after and so our dinner party was a huge success.

This is a second time I try a Teppanyaki in NZ... The place has a good view on the second floor and is compact with small space. The staff are friendly and with good manners the English is a bit basic which can lead to some uncertainty but nothing major. My advice is to let the chef know that you prefer to leave it up to you to handle the salt from your table as sometimes the food can be on the salty side especially having the soya sauce added as a garnish to the food. In general it's still a good place to enjoy in Kaiapoi and there's room for improvement.

Food always the best. Staff are wonderful. Restaurant is looking very tired, needs a revamp :-)

Beautiful food. Friendly staff and a great show from the chef.

Lovely, friendly service from the moment of arrival. We had a cool young chef who cooked our food to perfection. Food was fresh, the perfect amount and very tasteful. They cater for the young ones and have a suitable beer, wine and of course sake list. Will be back for sure!!

Great food, amazing chefs, always fun and good value

Really enjoyed my vegetarian menu. Everything was great. Maybe a little on the expensive side but had a lovely dining experience

Great food love going there great staff

The food was amazing, staff are very friendly our chef was interactive and very fun, it was my brothers birthday and our chef wrote happy birthday in salt after our meal and even brought out a suprise free birthday dessert and sung him happy birthday, great fun place to take the family, definitely reccomend this place and the food was amazing

Very small which is a shame but they make up for it with the amazing food they cook right in front of you! Our chef was so cheerful and funny. Definitely made our night just that much better. We got the Teppanyaki specials and couldn't finish everything! Well worth the money.

Always fantastic meals, never been disappointed or hungry at the end. Yes, it may cost a little more (for some meals) than some places, but it's an experience you'll really enjoy. Make sure you get a table around the hot plates!

Wow. Such a great place to dine. Our chef was funny and entertaining. Played happy birthday on the saxophone wrote messages in salt at the end of our meal. Highly recommend dining here.

My favourite place of all because the food is amazing! I'm always full and feel like I've had the healthiest meal ever ..except for the prawns they are so creamy but I can't get enough of them..yummo! If your at a shared table it can be awkward but the chefs are very entertaining and that helps when your sitting next to a stranger. The size of the restaurant it's too small. I would have preferred a table with no chef as we've had several birthdays there I've seen it before now just want to eat lol and i think if they hired someone with english as their first language it would help a little as sometimes they are hard to understand. All in all great food.

Absolutely brilliant, one of the nicest restaurants in kaiapoi.

It is a bit different style to authentic Japanese teppanyaki style in Japan, but Service and food were pretty good. Watching a cook for Teppanyaki was fun!

As usual a great night recomend any day of the week.. bit expensive but hell its your birthdsy... right!
