First time here and everything we ordered and the service we had were beyond our expectations. I personally love rib and sausage the most. Pecan pie with ice cream is also a must-have, which is the best pecan pie I've ever had so far. Would definitely come back next time！

We are so damn impressed with our meal at Morepork! Best wings we've ever had - they were succulent and the sauce was so tasty. Pictured is the Hunter share platter with Mac & Cheese and the Jalapeno Cornbread. When the platter came out we thought that there should be more meat but we got super full quickly and brought home most of it in takeout containers (which was the plan all along). Everything was so tasty and on point, my partner is American and she was VERY impressed with the authentic BBQ. Highest compliments to the chef and the lovely wait staff, you're doing an amazing job 👍

Celebrated my brother's birthday here again and was a great experience as always. The staff are over the top helpful and always friendly and accommodating. This year the bro got a birthday slice and ice cream on the house! Little things in service really do go a long way. Perfect space to host a function or close family gathering with 3 outside areas and and inside dining. Food is Delicious and we got to try Corn Bread for the first time! (Maple butter was a winner!) They also do jugs of iced tea that is the best with an authentic taste! Definitely worth a visit! Thanks Antje for waiting our table and to Alex! :)

First time here for me, my partner has been here 3 times. He had to bring me here all the way from Hamilton because it's "that good", and he wasn't wrong. I loved the Mac n cheese spring rolls! The platter was delicious. Chicken, brisket, pulled pork, pickles, chunky fries and devine cornbread. Organic ginger ale to wash it all down. Definitely HIGHLY recommend MOREPORK BBQ KUMEU!! Shout out to the lovely staff! Keep up the good work and we will be back for sure.

Wow! The food was absolutely 💯 devine. Jessie made us feel right at home from the moment we entered. Antje was very pleasant and hands down one of the best waitresses. The Hunter Platter was a winner and we will be back very soon.

Went to Morepork on Saturday night for my birthday. Had been looking for a proper American style BBQ place and this was perfect. The ambience is relaxed and rustic. Our waitress Alexandra was super friendly and helpful, she did great for her first night on the job. We ordered the sampler and 4 sides. I was worried it would not be enough food for three people, but I ended up taking some home! The sausage was spicy and tasty, the pulled pork and brisket were both extremely tender and the ribs were delightfully smoky. The barbecue sauce was a tad sweet for my tastes but the rest of the table loved it. All of the sides were decent sizes and well seasoned. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture. The desserts were a highlight; it was great to be able to have some choices you don't normally get in NZ. We had coconut cream pie, pecan pie and blueberry cobbler. All in all, we had an excellent time and left very satisfied. Big shout out to the manager too, who was just the right amount of attentive. 😁

An amazing dinner out with friends on Wednesday evening. 7 of us showed up without a booking and were greeted warmly anyway 😅 lovely and friendly waitress. The food was amazing! Generous portions, cooked to perfection and full of flavour. I wish I'd taken a photo of our food but I was too busy shoveling it in my mouth. We went for dinner on Friday evening. It was our first time. All the food is delicious, the best pork ribs I've had in New Zealand. The attention is excellent and they are always attentive if you need something. The music of the restaurant at a moderate volume and you can talk. Excellent place and we will gladly return.

I first tried this place a year or so ago and liked it. Six months ago I returned for another meal. The server/hostess who seated me remembered my prior visit and WHAT I HAD! Another six or seven months go by and once again I am greeted by Antje who seats me, and then comes back and says "I've cleared a table outside, I know you like that better" I mean COME ON. That is an insane level of customer recall (She remembered my drink and prior order on this occasion also) The food is great, ambience is great so go support great service and tasty food. What? Are you still here? GO NOW!

Good God, these ribs are to DIE for. Chicken wings - stellar, unbelievable taste and texture. The brisket melts in your mouth. The ribs are BUTTER. Sauce and spices are just right, not overpowering and artificial, the meat just shines through. All of this topped by a wonderfully friendly, welcoming and enjoyable crew. Wow. If you are looking for authentic Texas style slow cooked BBQ, then this is the place for you. Excellent brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, pork ribs, sausages and more with all the proper fixings like corn bread and baked beans. They even have Lipton iced tea! We were too full, but the pecan pie on display also looked fabulous.

This is a proper good American BBQ. Authentically slow-cooked smoked meats (I believe the owner picked up his craft in the States).The brisket, ribs, and sausage were amazing. We got it as take-away for a couple of families and it was quick (around 30 mins from order to pick-up). Absolutely plan to get this on the regular.

Excellent food. Very American style. Not your kiwi sticky ribs. More authentic slow smoked with rubs. Sauce provided on the table to add to the individuals liking. Good sharing platters. Salads/sides are a little small, particularly the coleslaw!

The meat was absolutely fantastic. The sides I had were just okay and found the pickles bitter. A bit expensive for portion size and for an American style bbq place I expected more than one bbq sauce option; usually you'd have a tangy sauce, a sweet one, and a smoky one for options at the table. Drove past Morepork more times then I'd care to think about. Enough was enough, it was time to sink our teeth into it! We were a table of 6, all of the meat persuasion. Immediately when you exit your car (plenty of on-site parking) you are hit with the warm and inviting smell of the smoker... mmm heaven! The look and feel of the restaurant took me back to my days exploring the US of A (in a good way folks!). The food. Well, I spent aggggges reading Google Reviews to establish what to eat. I needn't have been so indecisive as the outcome was all positive! The Mac n Cheese (side) was creamy, slightly smoky and got polished off quickly (I had to smack some hands away from stealing my portion!) The brisket was moist (yeah yeah, that word!) and melted in your mouth. Delicate flavors and not fatty. If you want some of the best hot chips....this place delivers. Crunchy on the outside then soft and fluffy on the inside. If you have kids (12 and under), the hotdog is 12 inches and will keep them occupied. Dessert- our table had had the Pumpkin Pie (quite light, some lovely spices and great pastry!). The apple and rhubarb crumble was a winner with 2 of our friends. The service was bright and bubbly. Attentive without being annoying. Our server was Matina. Knowledge, fun, good banter and really enhanced our overall experience! In summary, we will be back. The service, the food, the atmosphere has all lined up to making this a 5 star experience for us. Tip: Make sure you book! Can do so easily on their website.

I had never been to the place before - but after seeing some youtube channels about nice smoked food and bbq meats I felt rather hungry for a good lunch. Not being able to cope with not having any myself - I went hunting for bbq meats and found this place - And they do takeaways!!!! One of the staff took me through the menu and explained what portions would be suitable for 1 person and I ended up grabbing some garlic bread, pork belly and one of the jalapeno sausages and it was every bit (and then some) as good as it looked and I wished for - I will be back :) If these were the "suits one person" portions - I dread to think how full you could get if you wanted more :) sooooo full now - and that jalapeno sausage was super tasty :) Thank you to everyone there - I wish i left a larger tip.

This place is honestly a hidden GEM! Atmosphere is 💯 chill and cool. This was a very surprising find. Not just a typical steak house ... Food was delicious. The portions were surprisingly larger than I was expecting ... So definitely a great bang for buck. The best part of the experience was the staff. A customer's experience in a restaurant rises and falls because of its staff. Even the best gourmet food can seem awful if the service is lousy and the staff have lousy attitudes. I'm happy to say that the staff definitely made the experience way more pleasant. Our waiter called Antje was outstandingly good.. She was ultra friendly, very observant and highly engaging. She knew the menu 100% and her communication was spot on. All in all a really great evening with friendly people and great food. I'd definitely recommend Morepork and will definitely go back again.

Morepork serves up the best smoked meats in town, heaven on a plate for this BBQ lover from the U.S. It took a long time before I ordered anything other than ribs and brisket, since I couldn’t get enough of that smoky, flavourful, perfectly textured deliciousness. Then I tried the chicken. And the sausage. And the gumbo. And now I have to bring friends as an excuse to fill the table with plates. The fries are perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The cornbread has a lovely rich corn flavour and melts in your mouth with the honey butter. We love the collard greens, mac and cheese, and coleslaw. Often we’re too full for dessert and order pecan pie to go. The nuts have been roasted for extra flavour and nestle perfectly into the sweet, dark, caramelised filling. The place is homey and welcoming, with comfy booths as well as tables for large groups. Staff are welcoming and attentive. Morepork is the real deal for American BBQ - highly recommended!

Morepork BBQ serves delicious pork belly, it is well seasoned not too fatty and has pleasant aroma when it is fresh off of the braai. Now whilst the range of items I tasted was limited I feel that if everything is at the same level as the pork belly if not higher then this would be a solid 5/5 in my books. The staff are very friendly and quick at taking your order.

Lovely restaurant interior. Friendly waitress. Good beer. The smoked ribs were generous although the smoked meat with no sauce was not something I would repeat. Would love to try the briskit. Ordered the apple crumble pie with ice cream. We asked for the pie to be heated but when the pie arrived it was still partly cold (a little warmed in places). When a different (very young) waitress came over and I asked for the pie to be heated, she couldnt stop an 'eye roll'. I think she is new to serving customers lol. I would come back as there is a lot to like. May I suggest using bigger dessert plates as the portions are generous and try to overflow the little bread and butter plates used to serve.

Dayum this is some mighty fine BBQ. Everything is slow cooked to perfection. I had it once and now I have cravings for it every week. These flavors are straight up addictive. Holy cow, my new mission is to try everything on the menu. The sausage is so tasty and spicy with this amazing texture. The Brisket and pulled pork is so tender and juicy. OMG the ribs, wow, just wow. The ribs are full of meat and flavor. The mac and cheese is perfection. The fries are cooked perfectly. The cornbread could stand to be a bit sweeter, and for 8 bucks maybe a bit larger. The Deviled eggs are killer. What else did I try? Oh man I can't forget the pork belly. So tender, so tasty, it's making my mouth water just remembering it. The apple pie! amazing! The peanut butter creme pie, out of this world! But my definite favourite is the pecan pie. OH man is that perfection on a plate with some ice cream. If you haven't eaten here yet. I've got one question: what are you waiting for?

I really can’t fault it, it’s honest comfort food,not pretentious and not the same old steak and or same old fish. It’s also really well priced, for four of us with drinks it was just $120. Good for everyone of all ages and awesome staff.

My partner and I had the $75 platter. Portion sizing depends on how much you can eat, for us two it was more than enough. We didn’t add any extra seasoning (sauces) we loved the taste and texture of our food as it was. FYI - listen to your waitress when they say leave room for desert!

Yup this was bbq at its best. We got the sampler and a whole rack of pork ribs. This was plenty for four of us. The ribs were the stand out with heaps of meat and great a great smokey taste with the biggest surprise being the chilli Mac bites. Yum!! An excellent dinner and I will definitely be back. I agree that it’s the Best American BBQ place in NZ. I’m from Nashville Tennessee and have had BBQ all over the USA. More Pork would rival many US BBQ Restaurants. The test of a good BBQ place is the Brisket. More Pork’s Brisket was tender and juicy. However... the pulled pork was very fatty. Also, the prices are quite high.

I’ve eaten more bbq than I’m willing to admit. Until very recently we lived in the South (of the States) and bbq was a staple. Morepork is seriously good and seriously legit bbq. Sides were solid, but the shining star was the brisket (my husband disagrees, he was all in for the ribs). I know the menu seems expensive if you compare bbq to fast food....but it’s really, really not fast food. It’s better compared to a good steak, and those don’t come cheap either. To make sure it wasn’t my overwhelming love of bbq clouding my financial judgement, I jumped online to compare the price of our regular bbq joint in the States to Morepork - same same. Great bbq at the price it costs.

Addition - While the food is usually on point the service needs some work. We’ve emailed Morepork to let them know, they responded well and are looking at ways to improve. No offer to remove this from my bill, no apology! Not sure I’ll venture back there

Well yeah it's American BBQ, tbh not that impressive, very expensive for what you get, A burger with a side of chips, a couple of macaroni bites and a whiskey cost me $44.50 Been several times, ribs were ok, but I'd expect them to be saucy when they bring them to you, but you have to sauce them yourself, pickles I found were disgusting, same as the collared greens If you ask for a mixer with your whiskey you have to pay extra? Should have asked for a full glass of soda for the same price Portions are huge though so there's that, but I just expected more of something for the prices
