We visited Kilim at lunch hour on the weekend. The meals and all the other foods and desserts we ordered were really huge portions.. Service is excellent, cheerful, nimble and very efficient staff members.. The Turkish food is very tasty, quite different from typical other cuisines that restaurants generally serve. The place is very cozy, has a great ambience and is very neat and clean.. There are a few options for vegetarians too and is a really fantastic place for meat lovers.. Good place for anyone with a good appetite and for people who like to experiment with non stereo typical cuisine.. Our over experience was really nice, certainly worth a second and third visit, to try out the other stuff being served..

I got the falafel salad, it was the best ive ever had! I always seem to find most falafel to be too dry, but the hummus soaked it up so well i was in heaven!! I came here with my friend the other day and have been wanting to go back since! I usually dont eat that much but i ate all of this salad non stop it was so delicious! Super nice seating layout, lovely customer service, gorgeous and tasty meal. I cannot stop raving about this place!!!

Well designed Turkish place in Wellington. The place has a real Turkish vibe with all that Middle Easter ornaments. Menu is authentic Turkish menu with a touch of western cuisine but some of the main foods are not served in authentic and traditional way. For example Iskender kebab which is a very famous Turkish food and should be served on chopped Turkish bread and sauce, in this restaurant is served on rice. Staff are really friendly and polite. We ordered mixed grill plate, Adana burger and lamb güvec. I also inquired if they serve Ayran (Turkish yogurt drink) but the answer was no. Also place doesn’t serve alcohol but is a byo. Adana burger was food of the night for us. Authentic taste and decent size. It was spicy and this is the real Adana style food. Mixed grill was ok but really poor presentation. Everything was thrown in a plate with some salad and beetroot deep and a piece of Turkish bread which was covered with beetroot deep. My friend who doesn’t like beetroot was pretty upset so I swapped my bread with him. Güvec was really nice, well cooked and presented also really spicy which shouldn’t be! Actually all of our orders were spicy but it can be a misunderstanding from our side as my friend asked for spicy sauce which could be interpreted as we all wanted of our foods spicy! Price was reasonable in comparison to other Turkish places I have been and also if you consider the portion of the food. Kitchen closes at 9 pm. The place has no parking issues and there is lots of parking spaces on the street.

Cozy. Could be a bit noisy when all seats are filled. But you can still hear the person you are talking to. Food is superb. Very accommodating. We walked in at 8:30 pm. They close at 9 pm. But they still allowed us to come in and have dinner.

Donor Kebabs, Iskenders are equally appetising. They also have a Turkish Coffee as an alternative to Flat White. Nice strong coffee shot. The decor is pretty ethnic. I got a park down Jackson St at lunchtime, presumably because it's between Xmas and New Years so to celebrate I gave Kilim a shot. My chicken kebab wasn't quite right - I asked for garlic yoghurt and mild chilli sauces and I'm assuming the guy grabbed the tomato sauce by mistake. It wasn't great, and it was takeaway so couldn't deal with it at the time. That said, not a deal-breaker. Inside seems very atmospheric so I'm keen to go back and dine in for dinner so I can try other things.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Kilim serves excellent Doner kebabs. I ordered 3 for my family and they thoroughly enjoyed the food! I recommend the sit in or takeaways to healthy conscious people! This is the ideal place!

Liked the wrap here. Small eatery always a good place to be after your shopping Edit: an year later and nothing much has changed, lovely food lovely people, great ambiance. The lamb guvec and falafel were delicious, topped it up with a baklava.

A small cosy Turkish restaurant at Jackson street. The restaurant is crowded and busy on most days. It would be a great idea to book your table before walking in. You can also bring you own (BYO) wine to this cafe and theres no corkage fee for it. I went on a Monday evening and the restaurant was lively and crowded as often. We ordered Mixed grilled meal and my friend had opted for Turkish grilled chicken meal. Both the dishes were awesome. The meals are served along with a slice of Turkish bread, rice, salads and dips. The dishes are worth the try and filling too. I will be visiting again soon to try the Iskender meal which is one of the popular dish in here.

Very upbeat and fun ambience. I'm having the choccy cake served at my funeral. - scrap that, very disappointed to see the chocolate cake is no longer on the menu. Have since moved from wellington and was in town so thought it was the perfect opportunity to go visit kilim for choccy cake and dinner and was so very upset about this. Changing 5 stars to 3.

First visit to Kilim, busy place on a Tuesday night with very few tables spare. We had to wait about 10 minutes for menus but once ordered meals were brought quickly. I had the lamb gucha, very tasty. Loved the tomatoes in the dish, very hot but not spice hot. Meal came with small bowl of rice and another of salad.

Basic and cheapish. The meal was tasty and a good size but not amazingly hot. No music or atmosphere. Service was slow. If you want a drink, you have to go back to the front of the restaurant to choose from a limited fridge content or help yourself from a filtered water tap. Obviously popular as a lot of take out customers. Good to try but not sure if we'll rush back.

Best Kebabs in town. But I'm giving 4 stars because they are using plastic packaging for their larger take away meals! Guys, sort this out; there are lots of sustainable packaging options. On the plus side, their Doner Kebabs have always been wrapped in paper (not foil or plastic), good stuff!

I've given this place four stars because for the price it is good turkish food; once I've eaten in I'll see if I bump it to five :) I haven't tried everything off the menu but what I have has been tasty and good value. Their mixed dips with turkish bread are my favorite - i once just had that for dinner. I have had the adena kebab which was tasty and a nice option that you don't get much elsewhere. I'm looking forward to trying more of their food in the future.

Beautiful flavoured meat with all the sides totally stuffed thoroughly recommend this Kilim, we will definitely be back soon. We have been Kilim customers since they opened and usually love their food. But today 19/9/20 we had a take away mixed Iskander. The meat was extremely salty and the salad and rice soggy. Worst ever. 😞

I really enjoy my iskenders, I have tried them across NZ, unfortunately I have to say this has been the worst, the rice was hard, the sauce was minimal, I was also not given an opportunity to opt out of any of the dressings which is a first for me. I'm giving it 3 stars cause it was filing and the service was good, maybe they were having an off night, I doubt I will return again.

Good food at reasonable prices. However, our group was totally forgotten about, and we had to wave our hands in the air to get attention and service. No drinks (non alcohol) were offered, and we had to ask for refills of the water jugs. Therefore, there's room for improvement. Otherwise, delicious Turkish food!

Great place to either eat in, or to take out. The food is always very good. The service is fast, the staff are all very friendly. The food here stands out from other Turkish places I have been to. The difference is the attention to detail. The salads are layered with the most amazing flavours, the meats are all delicious. The falafel is also amazing too. There can sometimes be a bit of a wait at peak times, Friday/Saturday evenings, but never too long.

Been here numerous times, food is always great, the staff unfortunately have very little people skills, and some are can only be described as utterly incompetent. Tonight in particular several people with bookings were left waiting, as tables had simply been given to walk-ins. . (05/2018) This amazing Turkish restaurants is conveniently located over Jackson Street and is easy to notice from a moving vehicle in normal traffic. Easily accessible. Well managed, organised and nicely maintained. Spacious and comfortable seating. Excellent ambiance and cosy atmosphere. Lovely interior with some amazing illustrations and beautiful handmade mini-carpets on display over the walls. Well timed and cordial service. The best part we liked about this restaurant was cheerful, witty and spontaneous staff who made all our tiredness go away. Plentiful food options including many vegan and vegetarian ones which are clearly marked over the menu. Delicious authentic Turkish Food and quantity is huge. Good presentation. Table service. Offers takeaways. Good place for quick bite. Normally busy during peak hours. Reservation can be made in advance and is recommended for big groups. Good for groups, celebrations, family, kids and catch-ups. PayWave facility is available at this location. Could not notice wheelchair accessible seating or high chair in plain view at this location. Outdoor seating is not available. There is no dedicated parking area available for this restaurant although ample street parking can be found around the entrance. Entrance is wheelchair accessible. Enjoyed the experience.

Kilim is an absolute favourite among the family and many friends. They have affordable and friggin delicious meals and sides. Everything is so tasty, and great value for money. Obviously, the kebabs are a must-have!

Jackson Street Petone, great location, great staff, friendly and welcoming and very accommodating. And of course the food was abundant and delicious. Even the facilities were classy and that hand dryer is the best I've ever used! I'll be back with a crowd!!

Old review:There are many Turkish restaurants/takeaways in the town, but no one can match the tastes of authentic Meze, mixed grills, sheesh and iskender meals they make. Bit pricey but generous servings.

This place is incredible. We got the Turkish chicken burger and chicken Saganaki as mains, with a grilled halloumi to share as a starter. The mains were so big that the starter wasn't really necessary, and I was definitely impressed with how delicious the Saganaki was. Staff were friendly.

We love Kilim! The food is TASTY, plentiful, affordable and fast. The atmosphere is cozy and the service is excellent. We've been to other Turkish restaurants in Wellington, and none of them compare to Killim. The difference between Kilim and other "Turkish" restaurants is that Kilim is actually owned and operated by Turkish people, as oppose to other restaurant and takeaway joints which own by people from other nationalities, but claim to make Turkish food.

The spicy Adana plate or burger will satisfy those craving real-world hot flavours, and the traditional shish and kebabs will remind you what good Turkish food tastes like. No corkage fee and a nearby Liquor King encourage good drinking over brightly coloured meals.
