First time here and really enjoyed it. Nicely presented menus and lots of choice. The food came out within a reasonable time and everything was delicious

Very nice Chinese restaurant. Much better than the Dragon in city as easy to see even from the one star reviews from both. The Dragon 1star have a lot of Chinese reviewers, the New Fortuna none. This place may not be the best of the best, but it easily deserves 5 star: food is good, service eccellente, welcoming staff, good price... what else do you need?

Beautiful set up and amazing food! Four star instead of 5 because we had to wait 40min between placing the order and receiving the food. The kids were very hungry and upset by the time the food arrived. Service was good though. Staff were apologetic and helpful where they could help.

Definitely the best Yum Cha in the town! Love their chicken feet and prawn dumplings, which are so so so delicious with generous portion size. To my surprise, after our brunch I didn't feel very thirsty which I believe that they did not put too much salt or seasoning power in their dishes. Truly appreciate their service and good food. Will come again for sure.

Food was awesome 👌. But, cleanliness of utilities needed to have more attention payed to them. E.G soya sauce and chili sauce dispenser, need to be cleaned more frequently or wiped over with a damp cloth, also waiter needs to be trained to a better standard EG like if he or she spill food or liquid on table you are dining at, he /,she should make an attempt to wipe it up asap. Cost for meal was ok, fair price .marriage and receptionist need to change their approach when welcoming customers. More user friendly. Not so abrupt in their welcoming address. I think it is a language issue. Apart from my customer observations, I would go back nice food and fair price .Wife and I had our wedding reception in this same establishment, but there was different Chinese owners then. There were very friendly. They were very customer focused.

Nice friendly waitress. Very clean and tidy. Food was lovely but a little expensive. Only real downfall is the access. Steep narrow stairs no wheelchair accessibility.

The second floor in the clock tower building on Jackson Street. Yumcha during lunch hours. Good service, welcoming and nice food. Not suitable for vegetarians. Difficulty of Wheelchair access. Visit after 1pm for lunch if you would like to avoid the crowds.

This place is our favorite go to! All of the food is delicious and reasonably priced Must try the dumplings!

One of the best Chinese restaurants I’ve ever visited in NZ. Staff is so friendly, foods are yummy, we were really enjoyable!!

Went there for yum Cha for the first time on Sunday. It looked promising but there were a few disappointing aspects. Firstly they did not have my favorite tea. Tieguanyin which is available in pretty much all Wellington yam cha restaurants. Then these dumplings were cold and oily. And the shrimp rice rolls were okay but the sauce accompanying them was very salty and did not have the right level of sugar. But most annoyingly we sat towards the back of the restaurant and the food trolleys hardly ever came our way so we waited almost 20 minutes for our first dishes. I had to track down a waiter to have them bring the carts to us. Not sure I will be going back.

Yum cha for 7 of us. Quick service. Excellent dishes. Good price. We will return

Honestly I highly recommend this restaurant ! The owner of the restaurant Jason is really respectful for all of his staff. The chef Xu and Zhou is very skilled Chinese cookr who makes really amazing and tasty food. All over is good , just need a little bit organization would be more perfect !

Recently revamped the menu for Yum Cha to make it easier to get the food you want. The food is made fresh to order, which certainly works on the overall quality of the cuisine. There is also now a half price dinner menu for each day of the week and feature in Uber Eats. The new staff are a little slow to take the orders, but I'm confident they'll get better with experience. Interiors have minor revamps which add to the recent additions. Love the mural blinds as they are very picturesque. Overall it is nice to see a Petone food landmark, freshen up with new and familier ideas.

Uber eats delivered us a great meal from here. Squid was delicious. Highly recommend.

Went here for Dinner, not a lot of customer when we arrived but the waiter mentioned it will be a long wait at least 30 min after our order. We don't mind and start ordering. They have Monday - Friday Special which has menu with special price but if there were more than one dish we only can order one of them for the special price. This is a bit misleading. What's the point of having the special if you only can order one of it. The food was great and the portion is acceptable but the price is a bit high compared to other Chinese food in the area. Service could be better

Food is amazing but service was very poor. I took to refilling my own teapot because it was taking too long and at that time we were the only customers. I had to ask for our dessert and drinks menu repetitively and there was just a lack of attention. It d felt under-staffed but there were a lot of people serving. I must note that there were some pleasant staff but one person in particular let the team down. I really want to come back and bring my whānau but I really need to see some improvement in service. Please!

Lovely food to share allowed to take the rest we didn't finish home and good value for money. We shared dishes but you can just order for one too. Wanted to try desert but unfortunately couldn't fit it in. Very nice clean restaurant

Great service n delicious food

This was an unplanned dinner out with cousins after watching the movie Cousins at the Lighthouse. We were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant open on a Sunday evening. We ordered a Banquet menu which was yummy and served quickly.

Nice location, well presented restaurant and an excellent menu. Unfortunately, the service is very lackluster. There really was no excuse for the low level of service and long waits given the restaurant was only half full.

Best Asian food I've had in a long time 😋. Don't be fooled by the look of the place from the outside, every dish was amazing, especially the meat dishes. Highly recommend

Definitely a healthier Yum Cha than we've had in the past &&& so nice not to have a white table cloth! Very enjoyable meal for the four of us & so highly recommend the coconut buns! Thank you we will be back!

Freezing day and yum cha became necessary. We were conservative and didn't choose EVERY item on the menu. Just a modest selection with a big pot of tea. Food was good. Was quite a treat all in all.

New owners, menu and chef in 2020. Generous helpings and good value compared to other Chinese restaurants in the vicinity. Quite crowded the day we visited and service was a little slower than expected but generally worth waiting for.

I think this is so far the best yum char in Lower Hutt. My husband and I always come here for weekend yum char and sometimes for dinner too. Place is nice, service is not so bad. The food is absolutely delicious. Other yum char place will only give you one hour and will chase you away to accommodate other cuatomers. We love this place!!!

Excellent food and good service. Chicken feet were a little cold. Needed more time in the steamer. Food freshly made and not reheated several times. Far better than what is being served in Wellington.

Went their for my wife's birthday along with family and where seated at a table, the hostess was excellent and helpful. the food was plentiful and tasty and reasonably priced . Would we go back again, yes we would, we left feeling happy, well fed and pleased to be looked after by great staff Thank you New Fortuna Restaurant for a great night

Food really nice compared to other Chinese restaurants. Banquet meal big enough to feed a table of 8, we were full by the 5th dish but of course still had room for dessert 😂🍦! We were given a very neatly presented "doggy bag" with the leftovers to take home. Staff very lovely, friendly & smiley 😊 - regularly checking up on us. First 3 dishes alittle slow coming out BUT not a biggy..would defintely go back. Check out the chicken corn soup - hot, well seasoned full of flavour & piping hot..deeeliissh

This is a great place for Yum Cha. We have been there many times with big and small groups. They have good service and great food, which is always fresh and tasty. There is a nice atmosphere which is especially good for large groups.

Popped in for lunch. Yum cha it was. Nicely restrained and didn't order too much. The server made sure we didn't overdo the ordering. ;-) Funny how turnip cakes work so very well on a cold day....so does congee. Little quibble on the arithmetic of the bill. All sorted nicely. Great way to send an hour.

Fast service, great yum cha and for tea & 2 full bellies after 8 different tasting plates under $60 I am well satisfied. Black sesame roll...mmm Regular and will continue to be.

Comparing to the local scene (and not that of overseas) their yum char is acceptable, ie. quite good - not the worst nor the best. Go early as trade is brisk and tables scarce if it's yum char you're after. (There's more choice of restaurants offering YC if you are willing to travel down to Wellington). Overall it's convenient and fortunate for the locals that NF offers YC at all, and one that passes my "litmus, taste test"!!

Delicious chinese/asian food, exactly what I wanted, although, it took quite a while for the food to reach our table. Definetly worth a try!

Some good options on the menu, but the establishment is let down by the often long wait times and inattentive service. The interior decor is also a bit tired looking, and could do with a revamp. Food is generally good.

A great yum cha experience. Much quieter than other, similar, restaurants and with good food. The food is tasty, and seems to be prepared with care. Very slightly more expensive than similar restaurants, but well worth the extra few dollars in my opinion.

Average yumcha- not a lot of options to choose from, we ordered from a list, but found out later that some are not available. Standard price, clean and spacious.
