I have dined here with both my husband and friends on two separate occasions recently and both experiences have been excellent. Good food (in particular the slow cooked pork belly!) and fabulous service! On our first visit we had a Spanish waitress who was very lively and made our lunch a lot of fun, and more recently we were served by a younger (English?) lady who was very attentive and friendly and made sure we always had a drink in hand! Will be back.

I had seafood Which included fish (gurnard i think) with 3 prawns and verges. This left a lot to be desired given the dish was almost 30$. The drink which had blue berries was ok nothing special and dessert (forgotten the name) 18$ which was the best of all.. Overall 3/5 for taste and 2/5 value. Total bill 63$

My wife and I dined here for our wedding anniversary. The food was good, well presented and tasty. The service was 'interesting'. I often wonder if wait staff in Masterton restaurants simply receive no training at all. The young guy who appeared to be in some manager role tried but the other waiting staff were pretty poor. Long wait for drinks, long wait for food service even though the waitress who served us did not appear busy but spent most of her time chatting behind the service counter. No attempt to check on us after bringing our food and no attempt to check on our drinks. No further attempt to sell us deserts so I went up to the counter and asked for desert menus. The staff member there (who was doing less than nothing) nodded her head to someone else to serve me. It's a pity because it's a lovely venue and the chef clearly knows his stuff. Having worked in hospo, I know it can sometimes be hard to provide good service to everyone, but, this is not some cheap dive. They really can try harder at The Screening Room.

Fabulous coffee stop, great atmosphere. The coffee and earl grey blend teawas too perfection. The mandarin and almond tart and candyman dessert were both exquisite. Thank you. The loss of 1 star was for the show service.

I cannot rate The Screening Room more highly than this! In Masterton for the long weekend and went there 3 times. Wonderful service, friendly and attentive staff, quick service ans catered to medically-related dietary requirements with ease and confidence. Child friendly and gorgeous space with indoor and outdoor seating. Would highly recommend. We will be back for sure!

We went to a movie first and enjoyed the very comfortable seats and great leg room. We were going to have dinner there afterwards so didn't take advantage of food delivered to your seat but did have a glass of wine.. dinner afterwards was great with friendly wait staff and a warm bustling ambience to the place... I highly recommend

Lunch and movie midweek - The Screening Room satisfies with both the food and the entertainment. Great variety for vegetarians the holoumi salad was terrific, as was the chicken burger. The berry tiramisu shone as a dessert, with fresh berry tastes reigning supreme. A relaxing midweek treat.

Won 2 movie tickets during a facebook competition. Drinks brought during movie. So much to offer their customers. Definitely a go-to for that special, well presented, special meal.

A really great idea having the restaurant and cinema together as one. We enjoyed the beef cheek main and the comfy seating in the cinema. The staff were friendly and helpful too. The restaurant was a bit lacking in ambience and the starter and dessert weren't thrilling, but overall we would go back.

Probably not the right place to review the actual film. But Holy moly please go see the The Rescue, the national geographic documentary about the Thai soccer team, 12 boys & their couch rescued from the cave in 2018. The most emotional inspirational film I've ever seen. Thank you screening room for showing.

What a lovely theatre and the seats are so comfortable. Had coffees afterwards though the option was to have it brought in to us. Staff found a spot for us to sit even though every table was fully reserved. Love the staff, outdoor sitting, actor and actress bathrooms. Perfect for a treat. Great food and drinks too.

This place is a little hidden gem. The cinema is beautiful, comfy, spacious and so clean and tidy. I will never go to any other one again in the area. The staff we absolutely lovely and so so helpful and caring. Absolutely loved my experience here and the food looks amazing too.

Visited recently for dinner, ordered rump steak, Moroccan lamb, skillet pudding & creme brûlée between two of us. Food was delicious and service was excellent, they even honoured an expired gift card because of COVID lockdown. Would definitely recommend Screening Room and will be back!

EXCEPTIONAL!!!! The Screening Room offers gourmet dining, which is not only beautifully represented but taste is out of this world!!! Lemon Meringue cheesecake should definitely entice its absolutely divine (and addictive 🤣🤣) Dinner here is an experience you absolutely must have... beautifully presented quality food, staff are very attentive and clearly understand Service with excellence!!! Atmosphere is fabulous, gentle soft music which is pleasant, easy on the ear & allows you to truly engage with whomever your dining with. Awesome place, have a drink and a bite to eat before seeing a movie! We went in on a Sunday, was nice and quiet to have a chat, but good music too. For two people we got four small/medium size tapas style dishes. Very nice food and drink!! Just the right amount.

I just have to update my already 5 star review from a few years ago to say how AMAZING The Screening Room is. I have a couple of allergies which makes dinning out very tricky, but the staff and chef were so accommodating that I had the best dinner out in years!! Our waiter the America guy is a hoot, a great guy (as I'm sure are all the staff there). The ambiance and decor is on point. I will be back, I will be bringing friends and family. I highly recommend the screening room for a wonderful night out that's not too hard on the pocket.

It's not an easy undertaking catering for a 28 person Xmas party - dietary requirements and all, but the team at The Screening Room went over and above for us. We had chicken lemongrass sliders on charcoal buns, prawn salad, roti, arancini balls and the crispy lamb was to die for. And the dessert was out of this world! With a fantastic wine and beer selection and Christmas crackers on the tables - the team ensured we had a fabulous end of year lunch. Would HIGHLY recommend. And their comms were on point too. Thank you to the cooks, the wait-staff, Travis and Jon for all the planning in the lead up. Thanks for looking after us with a delicious meal. That KJ is a real star too!
