D.Really delicious meals and entrée. 2 adults & 1 child. We got the specials board of deserts the cookie monster & chocolate brownie which sold out really quickly. Have been to both matamata & morrinsville bars and will definitely be back again. Was pretty busy when we came in on Friday night and all our meals & drinks were perfect. Keep up the good work team.

Sticky chicken with coconut rice is such a great value and taste.
J.We stopped here for a drink and afternoon tea. The staff were friendly and welcoming as well very efficient. We ordered a couple of sides and the portions were very generous. Interesting memorabilia on the wall celebrating Matamata's sports history.

Lovely young staff served us. Very friendly and awesome atmosphere. Music was great mood setter. Nice spontaneous visit. Will be back to try another dish. Sticky crispy chicken and the jelly tip cheesecake were awesome. As was the mozzarella and bacon bread starter. Yum!!

B.We stopped in Matamata for lunch on the drive down to Napier. We parked nearby and decided to stop here.
The menu was fairly sized and had nice options. The server was very friendly. After getting our orders we were able to admire the decor of the bar including the kayak on the roof that went to the outside area.
the food was quite nice. Tasty and well cooked. I had the Buddha bowl and that was really tasty particularly the coconut rice which actually tasted like coconut. The chowder was on the salty side though. It was quite a nice place for a fairly chill lunch before heading out again.

T.Just wanted to say thanks to the guys at Redoubt Bar & Eatery ❤ We had the best dining experience I have ever had. Compliments to the chefs. I feel relaxed and satisfied after having a scotch fillet perfectly cooked and my sticky date pudding. No photos of the mains cause I was starving🤣🤣🤣

C.Restaurant uniquely added with a feel of Hobbiton. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic. You can both enjoy good food and warm atmosphere here. Food pricing is average and wont cost an arm and leg. Highly recommended restaurant when in town. Located across Matamata isite so it's relatively easy to spot.
S.Excellent food with fast and friendly service! We stopped here for lunch before our Hobbiton tour and were were glad we did! Waiter recommended the Pork Belly Boa Buns and they were excellent, highly recommend them! Fun little pub near Hobbiton! Highly recommend stopping by if your in the area!
C.Nice lively bar and restaurant on Matamata’s main strip. Was crowded on Friday night but a lovely vibe, a menu that looked great and food that tasted lovely. We tried the NZ Fillet Steak and Lamb and they did not disappoint! Warm and friendly service as well and it was a recommendation that I’m glad we took.

L.Cute spot right in the middle of town. Indoor and outdoor seating, homey decor, friendly service. Cocktails, wine, liquor, and tap beers available. Their appetizer bread crisps are mouth watering. I went during dinner time and ordered the lamb dish. The lamb itself was delicious, but those vegetables stole the show! They could be a dish onto themselves. I've never been taken aback by what was supposed to be the "side dish" before. Lol A+

H.A great place to have dinner. Excellent food is available, very very friendly staff and prices are very low. There is a hobbit house nearby. Food ranges from a tasty Pizza to self made tagliatella. The creme brulet is really great. A clear recommendation.

H.Stunning. Just wow. The staff are amazing so friendly so attentive at the right time yet do not hover. Very genuine and real, was amazing from booking, walking in, starter, meal to dessert and choice of drinks were excellent. Very impressed. The atmosphere here is excellent so fun vibrant and such a gorgeous place too. This wasn't just a Saturday night meal it was an experience. We'll be back. With family, with friends anyone who will travel there with me. Thanks guys!

P.I booked a table for two, door man/waiter remembered our names off by heart from the booking and sat us down. He also addressed us by our names throughout the night so it looked good on my end being the first dinner date for us two lol. Service was fast and good. The waiter also had a good sense of humour 👍. I like large meals and the Burger definitely filled me up. Love the interior of the Redoubt aswell. Thanks 👍

S.This bar in Matamata is a very cosy place inside. We only had drinks there but they have a good menu as we have tried their food at their Morrinsville branch. The staff are exceptionally friendly and ask your names and introduce themselves as you come in. The decor is fairly hobbity for Matamata so in line with the theme of the town. There is an outside area for warm days and a nice warm bar area for colder days. All up, worth a visit!

D.Walked in here while driving by and could not have been better. Great beer, great food. We had the burger which was huge and really good. Plus the meat pie which was also awesome. In addition the service was really outstanding!
M.Although I have only been here a few times, those experiences were great. The staff were really friendly and on my birthday a little while ago they put the song up on the T.V. and wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate on my plate. The staff actually seem to look like they enjoy working there unlike some other places I have been to.
C.We were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled into this restaurant. The walls were filled with memorabilia from newspaper cuttings of famous/infamous historical events, movies especially from Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, and famous personalities.
I wanted Sauron's Fury (Pepperoni Pizza), but decided to try the Braised Ox Cheek & Red Wine Pie, which was delicious and really impressed me as I don't usually like pies.
The curly fries were not what we expected. It could have been made more crispy, and the oil temperature could have been higher to avoid the curly fries from becoming too oily.
Overall, a pleasant dining experience that was made complete with the excellent service.

S.Went in for a late afternoon lunch. We were promptly welcomed in a very friendly manner. The staff were fantastic. We had a pasta dish and a chicken dish. Both outstanding. We sat there quite surprised to be enjoying such a high quality meal with great presentation after our day of driving. Loved it - will definitely go there anytime I’m near Matamata !

D.OMG Burger wasn't on the lunch menu, but they made it for me anyway. So glad they did, because it was awesome. The meat is very high quality, and the natural ingredients like beets and arugula made me feel less guilty about what I was eating :) my wife had the lamb and falafel naan wrap, and that was super tasty as well. The onion rings that came with my burger were probably the best I've ever had.

J.Great spot for a drink and something to eat. I was recently in matamata and dined there with a group. Good selection of monteith beers and good pub menu but done well. The ir beef burger was filling and full of flavour.

m.This is a real 'feel good' place. We went for dinner quite late as we were traveling through. They made a couple of mistakes and had technical issues but the genuine intention for high standards were there without a doubt. They corrected the issues and waved half of the bill. I would go back for sure.

M.I have nothing but admiration and praise for the young staff at the Redoubt Bar who tended to us yesterday. My brother and I walked in with our mother, who had had a bad fall where she had smashed her face and broke her wrist. She literally looked like she'd had a round with Joseph Parker. She had just come out of Auckland hospital and we were en route to Tauranga. Immediately your staff cleared the aisle of stools, brought a padded chair and a cushion for her and tended to us so earnestly. As mum was queasy all she wanted was toast and the little platter that arrived for her was beautiful. Our lunch was great, and well needed after the night in hospital. THANK YOU for your outstanding care, hospitality and the dignity you showed us. It meant a heck of a lot to us after the previous few days of turbulence we had endured. You guys ROCK:-)

J.We got the arincini and the Smeagol pizza and both were very good but service was pretty bad. We would even try to wave people down and couldn't get anyone to come over and we were ready for our check and noone checked on us for at least a half hour. With all drinks empty I ended up getting really mad and going to the register myself to check out.

T.I love Matamata Redoubt Bar and Eatery! Mean feed and mean service. There was one bad experience when I went with another 9 family members. We waitied 30 minutes to order and 1hr and 20 minutes to finally recieve our food. My 5 yr/o cousin was starving and had ordered a kids meal which was bought out 8 minutes after all our food had came out. We came in at 1900 and left at 2145. Eventhough this happened I still really love our Redoubt☺
