The snapper was simply beautiful and moist in its light, crisp batter. the chips were crisp and well drained of fat. A great example of fish and chips NZ.

Out of the way but glad we found this fish and chip shop if was a pleasant surprise We got 3 nice sized fish just right amount of chips and great salad. By far the best in the mount and Tauranga area. also not fatty. Good on you guys.

Great fresh fish.. Tried two fish types and initially was a bit dubious when told only batter available, no crumbed. I was wrong .. Mags didn't just hit a home run on the meal but hit it out of the park.. Light batter, crispy with only a light oil taste A++++ Then I spotted the Ceviche/Ota ika.. wow sums that up. I'll be back.. Thanks for showing NZ still has real Fish & Chip shops

Stopped in for some White bait fritters & fish n chips, omg the fritters were thick, with perfect ratio of white bait & egg wrapped in a tasty, crispy batter, perfect seasoning, sooo yummy, will definitely be back for more!! Ange thank you for what you did for us, I honoured our arrangement. Highly recommend Mags to all!!!

These guys are great. After regularly going elsewhere for our fish and chips we just happened to try Mags and now we won't go anywhere else. Plenty of fresh fish and hot crisp chips. Quick service and all with a friendly smile.

Ive found my local Fish and Chip 🙂 Tried for the first time....Yum!!!! Generous portions of snapper, chips crisp and crunchy. You can't ask for anymore than that. Ty Mags 🙏

Tasty food, fast service, great prices, comfy chairs. Wish I had ordered sauce or that someone was at the counter so I could order it after I got my meal. Very fresh seafood, delicious! Highly recommend visiting this place! Perfect salt levels.

I'm glad I walked past the Mount F&C shop, these guys are the best, had the Fish of the day & salad ($10), the fish was Trevelly & cooked to perfection, been a couple of years since I've been here but def worth the wait. Wednesday 4 March 2020.

We visited here last week. The fish we ordered, three different types, were beautifully cooked and the marinated muscles were delicious. We will be back for more on our next visit from Cambridge. Also loved the service we received.

This was highly recommended on Facebook and I can understand why. Generous servings and the fish was beautiful - fresh and in a lovely light batter.

If looking for a decent meal of Fish and Chips, then Mags Fresh Fish is a good choice. You can the fresh fillet for your meal from their chiller display if you so choose. I recommend the Terakihi cooked in crispy batter. You won't be disappointed. Portions of Chips are very generous, and the staff are very helpful. Cooked quickly and efficiently.

Yum! Beautiful Bluenose fish n chips. Cheeseburger was prefect heaps of lovely salad, great patty n lots of cheese. Paua fritter was excellent. Highly recommend food, location n staff. Thanks

well worth 5 stars! a bit more up market than your standard "shark and taties" but really great value for money. really tasty batter on the battered sausage and the fish was lovely and fresh. loved how my meal was served on a metal tray with a sheet of baking paper... found this rather clever. nice big tables inside if you'd like to eat as a group as well.

Proper fish and chips, cooked fast (<10 mins) and service with a pretty smile. Fish is fresh, batter light & crunchy, chips soft inside but firm on the outside, so cooked at the right temperature and for the right length of time. None of those soggy heavy chips here. Great indoor seating with tables and chairs.

Just delicious 🤤 had fish and chips with salad. It was tasty and the portion was big. Definitely be back.

Chips were delicious unfortunately they had run out of potato fritters; and the fish, orange roughy, perhaps had been frozen, then defrosted before battering, was a bit too wet? Kids enjoyed chips, bread and kiwi favourite, tomato sauce, on beach.

Always have a lovely kai here.

The first stop on our trip was to get fresh fish and chips cause where we come from you just dont get fresh fish let alone great customer service so as you can imagine we were excited to get both. On our trip from Auckland to Whakatane we deliberately looked for a takeaway that looked clean, bright, fresh and neat peeps. When we got to Mt Maunganui...we found our place....the shop was clean, bright, fresh assortment of fish in the cabinet that we could choose from, great range of food off the menu but more importantly, a warm, welcoming smile from behind the counter. Mags' genuine honest approach made our visit that much more inviting....the Gurnard fish was wrapped in light seasoned batter, similar to that of Tempura... and when I bit into the soft fleshy fish it just melted in my mouth...it was absolutely divine...the chips, aioli and tartare sauce were very tasty but paled in comparison to the precision cooked Gurnard... the Eggburger was filled to the max with salad, including beetroot, and a scrumptious ever so tasty pattie and sauces to cry for...if you want real freshly cooked tasty fish n chips with traditional Maori flare, go to Mags...you will not be disappointed...and we definately will be back on our next trip...

Very very helpful with a BULK order we pre-ordered and needed ready at a particular time. All the food was ready on time and Hot when our group of 30+ sat down at Pilot Bay to eat. We highly recommed this whānau and that kai was amazing. Ngă mihi Magz. Des H Ngāti Awa 👍👍👍👍

After going fishing for the day Mags Fresh Fish cooked our fish fillets for us. Nice light batter, tasted great.

We went here because it had the best reviews. It was pretty average, a bit pricey and quite oily.

Really fresh fish with a good batter and good chips. All sauces (tartar, ketchup etc) and even lemon cost extra which is a bit annoying, but the overall cost isn’t too unreasonable.

Just had a feed of fish and chips at Maggie... ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.... the fish was big thick fillets and the chips were not fatty and not drenched in oil... totally recommended

Just excellent, excellent fish and chips - the fish of the day was gemfish, and I don't think I've ever had fish this fresh for years. Oh and such friendly, welcome staff too! No photos because we devoured it pretty instantly - do y'all have to take my word for it 😁
