Their dumplings were dam good 👍 😋 👌 And this place is the only one checked the vaccine pass very accurately. They asked ID to compare check. Very trustable.

At least 35 craft beer taps with no need for nervousness in asking to try a few samples before deciding. As for the dumplings, before visiting we thought it sounded like a weird gimmick but they were pretty good and full sized and made more sense once we saw the dumpling 'shack' inside. Cheeseburger was also good. Loved being able to sit outside at night under the heat lamps as it had a nice atmosphere with the strings of lights.

Quick to find us a table (less then an hour when super busy). Followed all the covid restrictions thoroughly which was very reassuring. The food was delicious and the variety of beer is awesome. Great night out.

Love love love. You’ve got to try the dark & stormy cider- an absolute must. Also dumpling deal on a Monday night is a fave! Love a bargain & they’re so yum! Ambience is always super chill too.

Have been here a few times. In terms of service quality, it's a mixed bag, quite inconsistent. Might be ace, or sub-par, just depends on the staff working on the day. The food is average, burger and chips fare. The range of beers is really good and the ciders aren't bad either.

Not really my go to place. I don't drink beer and I'm not a big fan of dumplings althou my friends all say they're great. Service ok but we got kicked off our table 15mins early to make room for another party.

The staff were amazing......We booked a table on 30th January - the restaurant was super busy with queues to enter, unfortunately they didn't have any record of my booking. They could've left it there and turned us away - as we were holding up others waiting to enter, but they didn't. The staff were amazing! They apologised and did their best to find us a table. Despite a huge queue, they didn't fluster and gave us exceptional service. Once they found us a table they provided some free drinks to apologise for the confusion. The food was fantastic, the service was awesome, the beer was brilliant. Exceptional service - when you can turn a moment of confusion in to a real positive. Thanks to the restaurant and staff for your care and service.

Been wanting to check this place out since I moved to Tauranga, but after tonight I won't be in a hurry to go back! Both my Friend and I have a background in Hospitality so we know the ins & outs but & we were both appalled by the waitress' attitude that "greeted" us - she was downright rude! The place wasn't overly busy but we had to ask if we could even order a drink so ordered food as well just in case. After waiting nearly 45mins after we finished our 1st drink & had a table full of uncleared dishes we decided to flag a 2nd drink (something we never do) and leave. The 3 starts are for the Mushroom dumplings, calamari & fejoa G&T which were all delicious, unfortunately it was the lack of Customer service that left the bad taste.

Rising Tide is a stand out eatery in the Bay. Amazing beers, brilliant staff and the dumplings are delicious. In a time where Covid puts a dampener on interactions and masks are the norm for everyone, the rising tide staff ‘rise’ (sorry about the pun) to the task of making you feel welcomed and looked after. Cheers Lauren 😊 On a busy night you might have to wait, but that means you have the time to enjoy a couple of the amazing brews.

The food is so average and greasy. Get excited to go everytime and then I get disappointed. The staff are really nice though and they have some great drinks

Great selection of beers and ciders on tap. Love a place where you can grab multiple different sours. The curly fries are off the hook. Dumplings also pretty great. Service can be slightly inconsistent but mostly because of huge crowds. We’ve been delivered wrong food a few times, waited for a long time etc. Does not diminish a really cool place, popular for a reason.

What we enjoyed about this place were the pork dumplings and the beer. The dumplings actually seemed too big at first, but they turned out to be very tasty. There was a nice selection of craft beers on tap and we enjoyed the ones we chose. What we didn’t like about this place was the noise. It was a cold day so we sat inside, and every couple of minutes a loud compressor would run. It was really annoying because it would be on for awhile, then finally stop and just when we’d start to relax, it would start up again. It really set us on edge, and to make it worse they were also playing music a bit too loud. And for some reason they had a TV on with no sound, which was visually distracting. I don’t know if they run this compressor all the time or if we just happened to pick the wrong day to come here, but it ruined an otherwise nice atmosphere and a nice meal. Incidentally, the service wasn't friendly, but I suspect they were also on edge because of the unpleasant noise. We thought we might come back and sit outside, but with so many hard surfaces it was also pretty loud even though there were only a few people talking. We never returned.

The dumplings and steam buns were Great but the service was a bit slow and the waiter never brought back our cutlery or napkins after saying he was going to. Also didn't like the people on the balcony who were vaping while we were eating out dinner.. not sure what the policy is but plenty of others were going out onto the grass..

The menus have changed and I'm not impressed . The dumplings used to be awesome but sadly no more . Plenty of good beers but finding a seat to sit at is your next problem as they let people book out all the tables .

Pretty good food and very reasonable prices. Also if you are there from 16:00 to 18:00, it is happy hour meaning you'll save a dollar on certain beers. A very decent selection of beers for sure.

Great food and service is great. One thing I liked was the fact we could order on the app and avoid the queues. Went there for my daughters 16th birthday with some of her friends. They allow under control 18’s til 9:30 then out. The dumplings are something else and there steamed pork buns mmmm. A must go.

Large selection of beer on tap they brew, lots of variations and flavors to pick from along with a bunch of guest brews that changes once in a while. They have live music and plenty of seating but it also gets full quickly. The food was really good and pretty different from typical pub food.

Such an amazing place. We’ve just eaten at Level 2 and they were so lovely, so accomodating and attentive with our orders and constant “can we please get …”. The staff are so friendly and lovely. Can not fault this place at all.

It's a special combination with dumplings and beer! If you want to try different kind of beer, you may order a tray with five small cup of beer. The environment is suit for gathering with friends and families.

Good food really good as well as interesting beers. The young waiters have room for improvement. long waits at table being pointed to a table and not taken to the table just little things. That young new staff learn with time. I will go back there I like the food and their beers

Good burger, great beer, "eh" dumplings. I've seen "Johneys" dumplings around at a few food markets and such and expected more. Really quite flavourless and pricey, and each flavour are set to only being steamed/fried, which is quite disappointing. Burger was delicious, fresh ingredients, no complaints. Great beer, poured brilliantly. I'd likely go back but will skip the dumplings next time!

Always good to go to rising tide but you kind of have to book in advance or hope and pray that when you turn up there is a spot for you. Because it does fill quickly. But always really good food and drink. Love you guys.

We go to rising tide very often because the dumplings are amazing. But I wouldn't be writing this review if not for the absolutely amazing service we received on our last visit. Katie (apologies if spelling is wrong) was so lovely when we were there for lunch. She made sure our dog was happy by bringing out a water bowl, she was friendly and smiley and had fantastic recommendations. Made an already good experience great. Thank you Katie!

Great venue for great beer and great food. We ordered beer over the counter so that was good experience. Our food was ordered but some got lost in the busyness. Our waitress tried, in the end I engaged with the kitchen staff to see what had happened. Sorted in the end, so not perfect experience but I'm sure on another day it could flow smoothly and be top notch afternoon out. - Updated review. Hmmmmm venue had same vibe which is friendly and upbeat. I feel I've advanced on the quality craft beer scene so Mount Brewing co have taken a hit, their beers are good not great. They kind of bang out their beers, missing the mark on quality. Reflected on their per litre pricing (flows through on the taste, sorry guys)

The short: Good - Nice bar food / snacks, fast service. Average Prices Bad - Industrial and scattered decor, parking The Long: My wife and I were told about this place a while back, and we finally decided to try it out. Immediately, parking can be an issue during peak time as it's location is surrounded by many of the companies operating on the edge of the port near Mount Maunganui (Partial industrial zone), meaning the customers line the street up and down in the only legal places they can park. Again this was Friday night, around 7pm so peak time. Upon entering you are presented with an outdoor seating area which stretches the length of the entrance, narrow but long, with sufficient heating during cold nights and a good shielding against nasty winds. Inside has a scatter gun approach to seating, with a few half walls preventing a smooth transition from one side of the restaurant to the other ... and a couple of dog leg corners from table to bathrooms. Ordering is done 1 of 2 ways. The more traditional talk to the server and order from menu ... or a groovy system of download an app for your smart device, setup a payment method and account (roughly 5 minutes work), and you can enter your table number, order straight from the app and have it arrive at your table. Very cool for those of us who are no terribly afraid of technology. The tech systems in place for ordering at Rising Tide that is similar to those of an Izakaya of Japan. So my wife and I were right at home. Though you can order in the more traditional sense of talking to a waitress / waiter, I would recommend getting a tech savvy friend to show you the ropes with the app, as it adds a new dimension that many New Zealanders would not be used to. But once you know it, it is really enjoyable. The food is fairly standard for the most part. A basic selection of bar snacks, tapas and burgers ... however a minimal wait time from order to arrival, and it is presented nicely. They have a working brewery on site, and the craft beers they offer are enjoyable and cater for a variety of different tastes. My wife was happy with the wine selection ... more reds would be nice ... but that's getting a little too picky. Price was a reasonable 'middle of the road' ... exactly what you would expect, meaning we were satisfied with the price we paid for the service and food we received. Considering the above I was happy to give Rising Tide a 4 star. It looses a point based on appearance and cluttered table placement, and even though the food (excluding Burgers), would fall under the category of tapas only, the app ordering system adds a different kind of flavor. Service was fast and friendly! Check it out when you can!

Great range of beers and I was there on a Monday and they had several beers for 5 bucks a pint! Good menu, enjoyed having dumplings at a brew pub where they wouldn't normally be on the menu. If in the area its definitely worth a visit.

M U S T - S T O P W A T E R I N G H O LE Miss you so baaaaad!! Easily one of my top regrets moving away from sunny Tauranga/the Mount is not being down the road from this place. Ample outdoor seating, less inside, but in either instance booking ahead is recommended for a sit-down meal as they are always busy. The entire menu is 🔥🔥🔥 as is the brewed in-house beer by Mount Brewing Co (easily the best-value craft spot I've been to in NZ). They also have several rotating guest taps and house cider and pink G&T on tap! Highly recommend the dumplings (any of them) cooked in-house by the crew of Johnney's Dumplings, with a side of curly fries of course. Always a good vibe, entire crew are awesome, live music is often hosted outside and always worth being around for. Every time I visit TGA, I visit the Tide 🍻 See you soon!! Cheers, D.

Overall enjoyed our visit here. Really awkward way of ordering food and finding a table, nobody came and greeted us or even told us how it worked. Would be better to have waitstaff get a table for us and come to order food, or at least have signs to explain what to do! Service was great after I had gone up to order though, which made the visit more enjoyable. Food wise, both types of vegetarian dumplings were disappointing, quite dry filling and taste wasn't what I was expecting. The rest of the food was pretty good, would reccomend the Mediterranean salad, Falafel bites, pork bun and pork dumplings! The cocktails are also delicious!

The dumplings are a must get. The chilli oil is heaven and the staff are friendly. The food is so good but cheap too! They don't have parking so it is a bit of a headache to try find parking on the road but definitely worth it. I do wish they had more vegan and gluten free options.

Nice place to relax and hang out with friends. They have a nice outside area as well. The selection of beers is amazing, and can also be bought as takeaway. The only thing better are the dumplings. We will definitely be coming back again!

Great selection of beers on tap. The food was also great. There is an open grass area next door which is great for the kids to play on.

This has become our go-to spot for food and drinks at The Mount. It's got a groovy, laid-back industrial vibe to it. They usually have some sort of live music on the weekends. There's a huge selection of craft beers to choose from. And then there's Johnny's Dumplings as well... OMG, their pork and prawn dumplings are the bomb. Try it... chances are you'll love it!

Nice place, excellente burguers and beers, just mess up and forgot my son's burguer. They give him a complementary coke to say sorry. I tried to book a table for my family because we alredy went there and it was too full unfortubatly i was inform they dont book table for less them 4 people. A part from that great place

Great food and atmosphere. Siu mai was cold in the middle but suspect poor chef was overloaded. Still tasty. Veges are a must have.

The lamb dumplings were good. Larger than expected, nice and crunchy. Visited under L2 Covid and they adhered to all the rules.

Went for a farewell for a colleague from work, everyone enjoyed their meals and had a great time. Looking forward to going again.

We came from Canada to visit our daughter and son-in-law in Papamoa, and stopped here after a day trekking around Rotorua and Waimangu Volcanic Valley. Our daughter had heard of this place and was looking forward to giving it a try. The atmosphere was very welcoming and seemed quite family friendly. We tried a variety of their specialty dumplings, salads and pork buns, and it was all delicious and well presented. They are a craft brewery as well and the types of beer on tap seems endless, with a good cocktail selection as well. Would highly recommend for casual dining or just meeting with friends for a drink or two. Will be returning!

A great place to eat and drink. Deep fried dumplings and lots of freshly brewed IPAs and APAs were all excellent. A nice space, lots of seating in and out (overlooking a small park) and very friendly efficient staff.

Quite disappointed for my first visit. Food was okay, one set of dumplings was good, the other lacked flavour and our side plates were dirty. Table was sticky. Please clean them! Service wasnt good. Had waitresses leaning over us while we were still eating to clear parts of the table. Have never experienced that before and I work in hospitality and have done for a long time. Over all just not the best experience and dont think I'd go back unless I was just having a beer.

Onion rings are to die for, recommend dipping in aioli. Bonus is being able to get takeaway bottles of the beers & ciders for home.

This place is cool. Ridiculous selection of craft beers, fresh and tasty dumplings. Only a couple of things would make this better: a tasting platter of dumplings so you can try them all and .. develop a sweet dumpling, ie. apple crumble to go with the cider. Then I would move in.

It's a popular place, so quite busy. I wasn't a massive fan of the dumplings, I found them quite heavy and over salted. Didn't think the mushroom filled or vegetarian dumplings were very tasty or balanced.

Dumplings are amazing. We were there over level 2. And staff were very clear about ordering system didnt affect our experience at all 😀

Great place, went on a Friday night was busy but the staff are very good and waiting times are very low. I tried the dumplings, fries and a few (many) of the local beers. Would high recommend that if you are in town you make the trip out there.

A sushi lover's dream -- all-you-can-eat for a price you just can't beat! The menu offers an incredible variety of sushi rolls, with combinations that are creative and flavorful. From the very complex to the very basic, the fresh sashimi is a great way to go if you prefer more simple and delicate flavors. Having side options of soups and salads is also nice before or in between the sushi courses.

Here to enjoy a birthday with family. Booked for 12 and got pushed aside for a newer booking of 20. we have been pushed into the corner because we are the inconvenience. The table is sticky and flimsy. Seriously get some cleaner on that. They ended up giving us free sample trays for the pathetic table and i admit the cider and dumplings were top notch. They did the best they could but just give us a heads up if you change someone elses plan.

As they dont sell the three mushroom or siu mai dumplings at our place in town, I make a special trip to the rising tide to get them. They are delish. A little bit of a disappointment when I get home to find my siu mai had been replaced with pork and prawn dumplings which I do not like due to prawns. I will still go back for more but I will be checking my packaged order before I leave.

Food was nice. My partner enjoyed the cider. The venue crowded to the point of uncomfortable and cold as they have to utilise the outdoor area. More a warm weather venue

If you're in it just for the dumplings then this is the place for you. Wafer thin wrapper with a tasty filling. I've tasted many dumplings from a lot of restaurants and eateries before but these will rate at the top.
