Highly recommend this place! It's one of the few restaurants that meets our standards. Staff was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the nice ambience, menu had a variety of wine and pasta choices and cutlery was clean and glassware was clear (it's one of our pet peeves). We ordered the gnocchi and spaghetti marinara. My partner and I absolutely loved it. He had to pause to nod and say "mmmm" in between bites. We capped the night off with some coffee and tiramisu which was absolutely divine! I wolfed it down before I got to take a picture. Overall, this place offered great value for money, we're more than satisfied.

Enjoyed an excellent dish of chicken mushroom fettuccine so deliciously,creamy, tasty and fulfilling it went well with a large bowl of 6 pieces of cheese and garlic pizza based bread that was so light in texture it was a perfect accompaniment to the meal. Was very satisfied with the excellent staff services very professional and efficient from beginning to end. The wait time after ordering was 30 minutes on a three quarter filled patron restaurant that is really excellent. Time passed very quickly social conversationing with family members which is a must when dining out. My eyes feasted on observing all the various varieties of desert being delivered to other diners tables and I wanted to order a dessert but my main meal alone was more than enough to sustain my hunger pangs. Excellent dining experience well worth the price affordable expenses paid will absolutely in the near future return. Must book for reservations to ensure seating availability.

So went in not really expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed there seafood and pasta dishes that absolutely blew me away with the different contrast of flavors from the tomato based seafood platter dish to the light garlic clam dish that was full of fresh seafood that decorated my plate. Hands down the best Italian restaurant I've tried so far. I give it a solid 8/10 would easily get a 9 if it had fresh handmade pasta. Three course meal for two at about $140 is very reasonable for the quality of the dishes. Highly recommended!

Great food and awesome experience. Seafood platter dish was about $45ish with decent amounts of fish, scallops, clams, squid rings, mussels and prawns which I thought was good value. Other dish was chicken risotto. Cocktails were reasonably priced and service was good (even for lockdown rules). Restaurant was very clean and the environment had a great feel to it. All in all a very positive experience. The only constructive criticism I would suggest is to print out the customers receipt before they pay but I had the price pre-worked out in my head. Will definitely be back.

Hubby wanted pasta for dinner before he ran the half marathon at the Hawkes Bay International Marathon and Portofino delivered. The staff was pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. They were very busy so there was a bit of wait. We had the cheese pizza pane for entree which was surprisingly nice. The fettuccine con pollo and spaghetti marinara were worth the wait. Overall experience was pretty good.

There is italian and then there is Portofino in Napier. Food is exceptional and authentic. We had masala amd marinara dishes that I can still taste in my head, simply superb. Service is excellent, wine choices extensive bringing local wines into the mix. This is a restaurant you can keep coming back to again and again.

Went for dinner and it was great. The service was very good, waiting staff very attentive. A little bit of a wait, but the restaurant was busy so no dramas. We had my Mother's 65th birthday here for a party of 15, the staff were absolutely excellent making sure that we were taken care of despite the fact that it was a busy Saturday night for them. The food came out in a timely fashion (and we ordered quite a bit), there are not enough words to describe how fantastic the food was. The flavours were everything that I have experienced at Portofino before, an amazing demonstration of Italian cuisine. All of our friends and family that attended remarked that the staff were wonderful, the food was out of this world and not to mention reasonably priced for the experience. Put this restaurant on your go to list when it comes to Napier as it is definitely an experience to be had, we know we will be back as soon as we can. Thank you to the staff there, you helped to make my Mother's night.

Our table of 7 really enjoyed their meal this evening. Seafood risotto was my choice and it was delicious.

Beware that when you are offered water upon arrival, you will be charged $9 for still water which comes in a bottle - make sure you ask for tap water! Otherwise, the food was typically Italian/Mediterranean. We had the salmon lemon crema pasta and pizza, both of which weren't particularly mind-blowing, but the wait staff were attentive.

Had a great evening with work mates here. We shared a couple carafes of wine and each had a pasta which were phenomenal. All of us were so happy with our meals. Our server was lovely and attentive and I definitely recommend coming here for either a nice romantic meal or a group meal. They seem to do both really well!

Somewhat perfunctory. Food isn't bad, is what you'd expect from an italian restaurant, and roughly worth the money, but nothing really stood out. Not a bad time, but unlikely to be my first pick for dining in the area or region, unless italian is the main criteria.

It's tough like their food is great but the night we went was insanely busy due to the hawkes bay marathon and they had barely any staff working. Hopefully next time they can better prepare when local events are on.

We had ousters and calamari for the entree. Calamari was great, oysters were debatable, they came out in a bowl and not in shells meaning they may have been lower grade, one also had lots of sand in it. Mains were absolutely amazing! Staff were really helpful and delightful . Location is good with a good amount of parking. Atmosphere is also good.

As a group of 6, including two kids, we were well attended. The kids have very specific tastes, easily met, although there was one instruction missed on the first instance and needed to be replaced quickly. Even the décor seemed to suit the kids, which kept them from getting anxious while waiting for the food to arrive. The drinks menu features a range from Hawkes Bay Brewing Co, one of which was a very pleasant discovery. I appreciate seeing local suppliers on the menu.

Visiting Napier for the day so stopped off for lunch here with my wife, as we enjoy dining at the Palmerston North restaurant. Wasn't disappointed. I had veal with mushrooms & seasonal vegetables, wife had the fish (Gurnard). Good Italian food,,staff are all very nice and helpful. Situated in Clive square. Easy parking and with views across the square

This is an excellent restaurant, with a large and interesting menu. We tried several dishes, and all were excellent. The one lack is their selection of beer - they have the type of beer you would expect at an Italian restaurant, but not any local beer. I would definitely go again.

My wife had the Rigatoni Portofino and enjoyed it. I ordered the Lasagna. Worst Lasagna I have ever experienced! A slab of what might have been a good pasta but drowned in 1/2 litre of red sauce. It looked like Lasagna soup. Very disappointing.

Having lived in Italy I was disappointed with all but the main course. The Bruschetta was edible but not authentic Italian . The Tiramisu was a total disaster , tasteless and badly made, not a hint of coffee in it. Our main young waitress was lovely , polite and attentive.
