G.Fantastic Thai experience. Had the Massaman Beef (5 hours slow cooked) and Royal Chicken Panang, both excellent. Fantastic ambience. Staff were very helpful and freindly when we rang to book and in person. Tables well spaced apart. All round was a great night out. Great Food does not get any better. Highly recommended.

B.Ordered the Crispy Chicken and Spicy Girl takeaways, The Crispy Chicken was OK at 90% full and beautiful flavours.. but the Spicey Girl was under 1/2 full. Good flavour of course. Rice was sticky and although the containers were not full they quantity was right. Had the Spicey Girl container been full the rice would have not been enough. Food was great, as was the service let down badly by serving size.

A.We ordered takeaways last night. The tofu was disgusting and tasted like my kitchen sponge. The vegetables were oily and it was mostly onions and leek. Not much choice at all with veges. So disappointed. Meal was 3/10.

C.First time ever Eaten here. Good menu .lots of Gluten free dishes. Menu explains what each dish is and the spice rating is very clear. Very reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere . Excellent waitresses. Definately return again.. Second time ever for me to give 5 stars to any where
A.I had high expectations for this restaurant seeing as it is an award winning restaurant. However I give it a 3.5. My spring rolls arrived soggy with only one small packet of sweet chilli sauce. I also think there should be 4 spring rolls instead of 3 in the entree. $8.50 for 3 is too much. The punnets of rice were small, I'm glad I had ordered a rice not knowing that the main tom yum soup includes a rice, this should be stated on the menu do people aren't paying more for rice, however I'm glad I ordered a second rice because one was not enough. Also the rice was watery and seemed old and not very hot. The soup flavour started off nice, however I was rather disappointed to only see there was mushroom and chicken inside no other veggies. As far as I know around Thailand and other nz Thai restaurants tom yum soup also has at least onion and tomato in it, some restaurants add carrot and broccoli as well but would've been nice to see it more colourful, I also noticed there's egg inside the soup which was weird please take it out. Never in my years of living in thailand and other Thai restaurants in NZ have I known egg to be inside a tomyum soup. Again the flavour was nice but the substance was not... Need to up the game. Add more variety of veggies in the soup. And definitely add more chicken it was like paying nearly $19 for liquid. To make it more value for money please make it 4 items in the appetizers not 3, make the punnets of rice larger at the same price. And add more veggies in the soup.
C.I had green curry which was tasty but very small. Entrees came out with the main meal which ment our meal got cold while we ate the Entrees. Service was good and it's an authentic looking restaurant

P.Amazing 1st time experience!! 1st Thai restaurant I've ever been to, the restuarant was well laid out, was greeted warmly, the waiter Chrissy that took our order went through the menu with us and recommended the best dishes to try for newbies. And also checked up to make sure we were okay and helped us with payment and also gave us a menu to take home highlighted with what we had tonight so the next time we order we can remember or even try something different! Wonderful idea! Everything that we ordered was delicious and did not take long at all to cook! Was a beautiful evening thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

A.Love this place. Have always received great service, even going there most buddies time of the year the service has always been excellent. Food tastes good, it would be nicer if the servings were bigger.
The outdoor area is cool touch and areas are always kept nice and clean. Prices aren't too high either and they also offer takeaways plus delivery. Plenty of parking space right outside the door.
B.The standard of presentation of the printed menu and the restaurant decor was excellent. Sadly the preparation of the meals was not up to the same standard compared to other Thai restaurants we've been to. Specifically over cooked and lacking a high standard of flavouring.
M.Whilst staying Napier, due to weather we choose to have a takeaway meal delivered. We received our meal at the time the restaurant said and it tasted divine. So when it come to dinner a few days later it was a no brainer to have Thai delivered once more and we were not disappointed. The Thai Chefs under promised and over delivered. Well done.
K.I've been wanting to visit the originals Thai Chef's for years. I worked at the New Plymouth restaurant whilst I was at high school. On Saturday my husband and I ate at the Napier restaurant. We were seated promptly and the waitresses were accommodating at first. However, we were neglected once we had ordered our entre. I had to call a waitress over to have our mains ordered. It wasn't all that busy in the restaurant when we were there but we could hear customers complaining about their takeaway orders taking too long.
I ordered a tom yum gai which was delicious but our rice paper rolls came out with a chili sauce instead of the sweet clear sauce we're used to. Our mains came out late and my coconut rice was dry - I used to make this and it was always creamy. My husband's black pepper beef was very flavourful but like the rice, was dry. We've had that dish many times in NP and in Wellington and we love it because of the sauce. We didn't bother with a dessert.
It was a disappointing visit. I expected fine authentic Thai food from the founding restaurant but instead was met with below-average takeaway shop inconsistency.

C.A neighbourhood gem. Generous portions (lots of veges and meat in the dishes) great flavour and wonderful atmosphere. Reasonable prices and friendly staff - highly recommend. Looks like it'll be good for work functions as well because they have a separate room at the back.

G.6 of us ate at this establishment and was a busy night but got in . the food was lovely the service was great.. would certainly return .We were happy to return to this place as the service is so good, friendly and helpful. I would advise checking the guide printed in the menu on how spicey (hot) the levels can be....I didnt!!!.....I ordered a "medium" which it turned out was painfully
C.Went to Thai Chef Restaurant last night. Thoroughly enjoyed the food we had, the service was excellent & yes it's not cheap BUT at the end of the day the price was worth it as we got our money's worth not just in taste but also in the whole dining out experience. Thank you Thai Chef Restaurant we will definitely be back.
P.S. I lived in Bangkok for 2 years so I know good Thai food when I have it.
M.17 April 2018. Working late, away from home. Lazy. Ordered take away from Thai Chefs for 19.00 to be delivered to my motel. Arrived bang on time. Hot. (As opposed to cold!). 3 kings fish dish fabulous flavours. Delicate yet strongly in yer taste buds, if that isn’t contradictory! So good it deserved immediate recognition by this post. Thanks a million for a fantastic meal.👍😁

Z.The only Thai restaurant offers good portion. Always go there for food, the skinny male manager is lovely but the lady seems sad everyday, no talk at all. When we walk in " A table for four please" no response.
"Can we have some water water please" She brings water to the table pours into glass but no talk
"Can we please make an order" then she arrives and stands beside the table, looks at me, and just writes down the order, grabs menus and walks away, no talk at all.
NO TALK AT ALL EVEN AFTER WE PAID THE BILL.
I was a bit shocked at the first time but now I got used to it.

No free range eggs, chicken or pork with an excuse of not easy to get in Napier. Which was a shame. The also killed (over cooked) the roti so it was not edible.
