Very genuine Italian restaurant. Ordered arancini balls and garlic sourdough bread very very tasty. Portion size was three pieces each. Mains was spinach ravioli and chicken fettuccine. Desert was a chocolate tart. Restaurants with few but select mains do a good job with the taste I guess. Good service and very tidy. Parking available outside free after six on weekdays.

This place is fabulous! As a party of 6 we shared the garlic bread sourdough (that butter was incredible), the arancini balls, the bruchetta and the calamari- all excellent! I had the sage butter ravioli which was rich but delicious! The others in our party raved about the lamb rack, the fish and the lasagna. The gnocchi was also good apparently, but also very rich. Desserts were all excellent, in particular the lemoncello tart & the homemade lemoncello liqueur was incredible! Loved the sign on the bathroom door too 😊. Staff were friendly and attentive, no complaints from me! Would return next time I'm in Napier.

Thanks for the awesome meal tonight! It was our first child free night in quite awhile, and we both really enjoyed our dishes. Last time we came was when you were still in Emerson St - the Seafood fettuccine was just as great tonight as I remembered it!

Our family went for dinner here tonight. We all loved it! The food was very fresh and super delicious. Chianti was supurb, and I loved the tiramisu. I would happily recommend Trattoria alla Toscana to everyone. Thank you for the lovely experience.

OMG the foods get is amazing. The service we received here is by far the best in town. I would give 6 stars of I could.

This would be greatest restaurant we have been to starting with a little touch of a strawberry in the glass the bubbles my wife really enjoyed. The Tuscan Chicken Pate and my Arancini as entrees were delicious but the Beef Eye Fillet was outstanding with presentation as well as flavours could not be faulted. Many thanks. We will definitely be back.

It was our Suvic social club diner at Toscana. All of us couldn't find any thing to complain about. Perfect describes our night out here. The meal was exquisite. Definitely will return.

Great service, non intrusive yet attentive. Nice atmosphere and food as close to Italian you will find in hawkes bay ( I am Italian). However, prices are over what the place's point should really be. In essence, go for it if you want a dinner with difference, but don't expect the excellence their pricing might suggest.

Absolutely amazing venue! Was a rushed decision to eat here, we were not particularly looking the part for such dining but were made to feel completely welcome and comfortable. Service was top notch, food and wine beautifully presented and beyond delicious. So satisfying and filling we couldn't even think about dessert so will definitely be back to rectify that. Thank you so much, very happy diners.

I'm going to start this by saying that this place has the BEST GNOCCHI in New Zealand! Fact. Relaxed adult atmosphere with a selection of imported Italian wines, local wines, beers, and cider. Enticing selections all around with an AUTHENTIC Italian taste. A lot of places claim to be "Italian" but Trattoria really means it. The owner has brought a little piece of Italy down to Hawke's Bay. The service is friendly and the food is a home run. You really can't go wrong. The dessert options are a fantastic finish to your night. I cannot recommend this place enough. Real Italian, really damn good.

Visited this restaurant with my wife two or so weeks ago. Lovely atmosphere, gracious hosts, and delicious food. Understated Italian bliss, scrumptious food and brilliant wine to match. Will be returning. The only thing missing was some Italian music over the speakers.

Awesome home-made Italian food, made by Italian chefs. The pasta is divine, tiramisu is extraordinary. Unfortunately they don't have pizza. It's slightly expensive, but worth it because of the delicious food and friendly staff.

Fantastic food, quite outstanding. Lasagna was incredibly tasty, with a rich bechamal sauce. Creme Brulee was perfect, a thick slightly browned crust covering a velvet smooth vanilla custard that literally melted away in your mouth. Don't go past this restaurant, you won't find better. Bookings essential.

Lovely atmosphere, the rice balls were sooo good! I get the impression they don't serve spirits very often though. Food was delicious and presentation was beautiful. A really nice place if you feel like being a bit fancy. 😊

Last night we were wondering through Napier and saw this place. Popped in for dessert and a wine. And we were wowed! Pleasant greeting, and quickly shown a table, while browsing the owner came over and had a chat about his menu and dessert wine options. We ordered and first came the wines in the cutest glasses, then the beautifully presented dessert that tasted as they looked. Highly recommended this place, we will come back.

Food was nice. Would have liked our garlic bread before the entrees. Took about 45 minutes to get our mains. Dessert came out quickly. But they were busy!

Authentic Italian food with genuine,friendly hosts in an unpretentious,homey setting. This is the best Italian meal I've had since I lived in Melbourne decades ago! We all enjoyed an absolutely fantastic meal. My gnocchi was the best I have ever eaten. This restaurant is well worth the price and we'll definitely be back. Highly recommended !

Just loved the food and owners sense of humour.

Family dinner on a Friday night. Superb meal and service. The owner claimed the steak is the best in nz and that is a big claim but he might well be right. It was a superb steak. The others had ravioli and gnocchi and fettuccine and all excellent. Been here a few time and if you want italian in napier this is the place to come.

In my experience, good Italian resturants are hard to come by in NZ. Trattoria is a welcome exception. I would say that the liver pate is the best I've ever had and the steak was amazing. Overall the food was top notch and this place is probably my new favorite resturant in Napier. The chefs clearly know their craft. We will be back.

Prices are quite steep ($124 for shared entree and 2 mains + drinks), but excellent meal. Very tasty; as promised. Delightful atmosphere and service. Did mess up our order, though and offered to 'change it' (implying we wanted something different from what we ordered) which kind of dampened our appreciation. Been eating all over Napier for a week, and this was potentially the best meal - but not the best experience.

Great Italian restaurant which happened to be very close to our accommodation. Had a smaller menu, which meant what they prepared, they did very well. Between us we were had 4 differing items, all delicious. Had a good selection of nice wines including some great Italian Reds. The staff were very attentive and friendly. This is the best restaurant I have ever been to. Great tasting food.we had 4 people with 4 different orders and we all really enjoyed our dinner. The best experience!! Staff was very friendly and attentive. My partner and I shared two bottles of wine, both were divine. They brought us a plate of sweets at the end and fresh strawberries. 100% would recommend! Amazing food and even better service.

Very Modern Italian Cuisine. We had a beautiful time and an exceptional meal. I had the best Duck of my life and my partner had a beautiful home made ricotta and spinach ravioli. This place is a must visit!

This is the first review I have ever written; the excellence of this venue has moved me to create one. We have shied away from fine dining because of the pricing but decided to treat ourselves on our last night in Napier. Turns out, the food is incredibly reasonably priced and the quality is outstanding. The wine list is varied and delicious, and the hosts are delightfully welcoming and informative. Our waiter was able to suggest a different wine to our choice based on our preferences, and he was absolutely right. If you are in Napier and want a fantastic, authentic Italian meal, then look no further.

Lovely setting and hosts. Entree of chicken liver was stunning. Tomato and basil sauce for the gnocchi was not to my liking. Risotto could of done with another 5 minutes cooking. But overall an enjoyable experience.

We dined here last night. Excellent food but appalling service. When I ordered the fillet steak meal I asked if it was gluten free (I have coeliac disease). The owner spent the next 5 minutes causing incredible embarrassment by being rude and sarcastic about my request. Our table for 4 spent $340 for mains, desserts and drinks. I was mortified. Beware of this if you have dietary requirements prior to dining here. Hawke's Bay has much better service elsewhere.

First up, the pictures of the place on here don't do the place justice. It was better - warmer, more open and expansive and far smoother than it looks in the pictures. The staff were welcoming and gracious hosts. The food was prepared with skill that will not be recreated without genuine culinary education and practice. 10/10 will go again if they let me through the door.

Highly recommended for a delicious meal. Specializing in Italian cuisine but other meals available too. From our table of 10 everyone was very pleased with their meal, flavours were devine. Great wine selection and excellent service. Lovely decor and very friendly helpful staff. Clean well presented restaurant. We certainly will return.

We enjoy eating out at our local Italian restaurants in Auckland, but nothing compares to Tratoria! Forget about the usual garlic pizza bread, here you get fresh Sourdough bread, lightly toasted with heaps of fresh garlic and dipping oil, with olives. Mains are amazing, these guys can cook a fillet steak, tender, moist and flavoursome. Lasagne was the best ever my wife has ever had. Deserts to die for,and of course being a family run restaurant, you are welcome like your part of the family. Highly recommended when in Napier

Honestly, foods are good quality and delicious. The combination of the impressive sauce and fresh meats tastes perfect. The atmosphere in the restaurant is also nice. But better to tell customers that the sparkling water is not for free at the beginning (Yes they provide two kinds of waters). Ignoring this uncomfortable experience of the service, another visit would be considered anyway.

Excellent food and really went out of their way to accommodate our fussy 3 year old and she ate every bite! Really made us feel welcome with children and even helped to entertain them! One of the best meals of our trip.

The food and service was great as always but our small group of three felt so cold. For a Friday night the restaurant was quiet although a large group left soon after we arrived. The food was amazing! Quite expensive but well worth it. I normally don't order dessert but their options were so good I couldn't pass it up. Great service from Reza. Had such a good night. Nice cozy restaurant right on the waterfront. Gnocchi and beet salad were well done, though not out of this world. However, the tiramisu WAS out of this world. Excellent service.Great authentic Italian food. Pizza is the best you will find in Dunedin and the whole of Otago.

Average food (dry chicken breast, very small portion of Tortellini), average service, rather expensive. As Europeans we do know authentic Italian food, which cannot be compared to what we were being served tonight.

Authentic Italian cuisine with ambient atmosphere. Quite a long wait between courses tonight but the lamb rack was worth it. Was recommended a glass of ciante to go with it which was beautiful. The panna cotta was a bit too dense but had a delicate flavour. A lovely night out.

We are from Wellington and adore Napier. We first went to Trattoria alla Toscana, when it was in Tennyson St. Its a very special place for us, as my husband proposed there. Kim and Razza treated us with a lovely bottle of wine, which we opened at the wedding. We then spent some of our honeymoon in Napier and went there. We were treated like celebrities :). We had a lovely visit to Napier, for my birthday and were greeted like old friends. The food and service was outstanding. Oh the chicken masarla is divine. Highly recommend.

Lovely, Tuscan not just Italian, food. Generous garlic bread as a starter, oozing melted butter. A lasagne and a spinach and ricotta ravioli for our main (from the entrees) with lovely wine. Very pleasant indeed.
