Food: Fresh. Local. Seasonal. Modern and creative flavour combinations that showcase the hero ingredient perfectly. Service: Inviting. Knowledgeable. Polished. The team strike just the right balance of personable and professional. We felt relaxed and attended to at all the right moments. Brick Eatery has easily shot to top of my favourite spots to dine in Aotearoa.

Cannot recommend this place enough, every dish we tried was exceptional. Scandinavian inspired food with delicious umami flavours in abundance. And the care the staff put into making sure we were well looked after with excellent wine pairings was the cherry on top!

Where to start with this amazing restaurant… The service was incredible, hands down the best dining experience I’ve had compared to many of the top restaurants in NZ. The food was on another level, we ordered most of the menu with a table of 10. Our favourites were the Ox tongue and the Grilled Mushroom. INCREDIBLE! For a new restaurant these guys know exactly what they’re doing- do yourself a favour and visit the best restaurant in Nelson!

This cafe is beautiful even on a rainy weather, when we went for breakfast. Service is top notch. Food is great and good amount of serving as we were quite full without needing to order sides. I would definitely come back maybe for lunch or dinner.

First visit today: wow! All around top experience from a welcoming reception, great setting, scenic outside seating, exciting menu, warm & professional service, owner‘s attentive presence. Food was excellent and a true delicious difference from the usual fair in the region. Great to read the commitment to sourcing local - just the wine list is not a reflection of this! 😉 Still happy to give the 5 stars - great experience Shaun & team, well done & keep it up. Brick Eatery is our new go to, their staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxing! Each time we have been, the chef has made a personalised dessert to my food allergies and they’ve been incredible each time! An added bonus is that it is a dog friendly restaurant 👏🏼

What is not to like! Amazing view, amazing staff, amazing food! The entire experience was just absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend their outdoor seating if the weather is nice. Great vegetarian options as well.

First chance to visit this restaurant under a new management team and we were really impressed. Lovely setting and decor but more importantly really fresh imaginative food with a very attentive friendly service . Highly recommend it . We will be back .

Great brunch spot, nostalgic baked eggs really won the morning. Both left feeling warmed by both food and hospitality.

Have had the pleasure of dining here a few times and the standard is always superb. The food is so tasty showcasing local ingredients and the smoky potatoes are a delightful surprise. Staff are passionate about what they do and it shines through their work. Great location - especially in the sunshine. Will keep coming back!

Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. It was a great experience to have the menu explained to us by the wonderful head waiter Shane and the food was DEVINE. It is great to see such passion in the food industry in these trying times. This restaurant is a must do if you are a foodie and in Nelson. Food and service 5 star

Great food and great service featuring fresh gourmet flavours that do not disappoint. Dishes that can be shared. Our waiter was well informed and was skilled at guiding us to the perfect meal. Delightful and welcoming atmosphere.

Incredible food, drinks and service! Amazing options for all sorts of dietary needs. The food is special and really shows off the chefs culture and love for food. I can’t wait to go back!

Literally sitting down eating here as I type this review. The food is amazing! The ox tongue was melt in your mouth umami goodness, sourdough bread was perfectly soft and the paired cultured butter was rich and creamy ♥️ The woodfire potatoes were super tasty. I kept marveling how good it was since they were served whole but it the inside tasted well seasoned as well. And lastly, the scotch fillet was incredible! Cooked perfectly and was juicy and really delicious with a perfect crust. It was perfection paired with the house mustard and master stock jus. Definitely a must try in Nelson! It made my tastebuds dance with joy!

Stunning!! Exciting, fresh and vibrant. Dishes I haven't heard of before, fantastic presentation and out of this world flavor, cant wait to go back! The staff were wonderfully knowledgeable and friendly. The view and atmosphere simply the icing on the cake!! Get down there!

The best meal we have had in Nelson. Nothing at all boring on the menu. Options for vegans and vegetarians easy. And wow! Delicious food. You will not be disappointed!

What an amazing place!!!! We dined here for dinner 2 nights in a row while in Nelson for 2 nights as well as breakfast, and everything just amazing!!! Awesome atmosphere, great food and absolutely outstanding service from Shane and the team. They could certainly teach the north islanders a thing or two on customer service!!!! Highly recommend to all!!!

Absolutely beautiful setting with fantastic staff and incredible food! A higher price point for Nelson but worth every dollar and then some. We look forward to returning again and again. I truly can’t fault anything about this little gem.

You must do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Monaco. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best breakfast ever. Highly recommend!

What a beautiful setting, with a delicious lunch of house -made pastrami on rye and great coffee. A walk in with the grubby dog (he'd rolled in mud) and sweaty gym clothes. Had dinner recently at Brick Eatery. Cannot rave about it enough. The meals were outstanding, the cocktails amazing and I don't even know where to start with the actual service, Shane made our night. This place is a must to visit. Not just the once either. We will be going again and again. Well done team.

So good for Nelson! The food was outstanding, attentive service and a picturesque setting. One of the best wine lists we've seen, their cocktail menu is innovative and their ingredients were all fresh and of an extremely high standard. Hint - definitely try their potatoes!

Outstanding service and the food was made with great care by someone who understood the ingredients and how they could be at their best. I had the coconut creamy greens on crispy sweet potato rosti. Toasted puffed wild rice on top and sweet cherry tomatoes on the side. You couldn’t improve on perfection and yes we were ‘joyfully nourished’, thank you for asking. We will be back.

Myself and my other half visited Brick eatery on the 26th Dec for lunch and stayed on for 4 more hours happily enjoying the beautiful food, drinks and fun from the lovely team here! Amazing find on the waterfront of Monaco in Nelson. A world class menu, amazing service and modern clean fresh atmosphere. Plus a great outdoor dining, bar and fire. Just perfect !

The Brick Eatery gives every other restaurant in Nelson a run for their money. If you want to experience amazing food, in an amazing setting whilst receiving amazing service then this is the place to go. Shaun and his team are exemplary hosts and his chefs do an incredible job of showcasing local produce in tasty innovative ways.

Wow what an amazing restaurant, trying to do something different and doing it brilliantly. Well worth a visit. Please try it you won’t be disappointed.

OMG! The food is sooo good! Everything we've ordered were cooked into perfection! And the Ox tongue.. Just... 🤤 Wonderful and friendly staff. A must visit to have good kai when in Nelson.
