The best Indian food I’ve ever had.

Excellent Indian, the best in Nelson. Very friendly staff who remember their regulars very quickly. May not have the flashest outlet but who cares it's the food that matters. The Food is consistently great, very generous portions and a great price. The vegetable Pakoras are awesome. There are flashier outlets who have just opened in Stoke and charge more and have a flash 2020 vibe about them, but if you want superior food and don't want to pay $20 a curry then this is your local!

This is my local go to for Indian, however tonight I thought I'd try the new Indian competitors in stoke. And It just reassures me East India is the best! I'm sorry I was a traitor tonight guys!!! But honestly east India curry's are awesome.i also highly recommend their naan breads (expecially the keema naan!) and I highly recommend trying their tandoori chicken.

I'm a local.. God dam best curry house in stoke for the price. Good quality consistent what more could you ask for? Thanks guys.. See you again...

So tasty and great value for money. 2 Currys and rice and 4 garlic Naan fed my family of 4. Cheaper than mcd's, and much tastier.

We tried this Indian food takeaway for the first time yesterday. The business is small, however the food is excellent. We ordered lamb saagwala, beef madras and 2 naan breads (plain and garlic). Massive portions enough for 2 meals each. Delicious sauces, thick and tasty. The saagwala was fantastic, but the madras was out of this world, easily the best madras I have eaten in New Zealand. Excellent naan bread too, I loved the fact that it was not greasy (in other establishnments the bread was dripping oil). Perfectly cooked jasmin rice. Often, when we have Indian food late in the night, we wake up with a heavy stomach and the taste of the food still in our mouth the next morning. That did not happen at all after our East India Takeaways dinner, which for me is testament to good quality ingredients and cooking oils which get changed frequently. We will definitely come back for more!

Love the food, my favourite Indian takeaways in Nelson and I've tried them all. Their English isn't great so it can be a bit hard to order but the food is amazing! Recommend the tandoori chicken, vindaloo, madras, and the naan breads are so good! Especially the cheese naan

I wish I'd discovered East India Takeaway sooner. Absolutely top notch! Genuine quality Indian food, reasonable prices and friendly, efficient service. To be fair, I've only been there once so far, but I am very impressed.

Best indian food in Nelson! Partner and I have it almost weekly (would cut back if it weren't so damn good!). Great price, delivery available, quick and friendly service.

Had one of my best meals in NZ (travelling for a month) from this very basic takeaway. (And we had eaten in some pricey restaurants too). Fancied a night in front if the tele so thought a takeaway would be a good idea. We told the chef we wanted our food madras hot, but this was met with a shrug, so we said 'Indian spicy' as we had found other Indian food in NZ pretty mild. Had chicken saag and chicken jalfrazi, both of which were cooked to perfection - really tasty and good sized portions too, I was really really impressed. It looks a bit shabby and the menu doesn't look great - but give it a try, its fabulous.

Great menu. Authentic Indian cooking. Never had a disappointing meal there.

Great tasting Indian!

Wow! We were in town for one night and got dinner from here, so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious with so much flavour, and friendly staff too :) highly recommend!
