One of the best plant based restaurants I've ever been too. All the dished pictured were outstanding. I'm a carnivore and didn't miss the meat. If you're in nelson and a vegan, this is a must-do. Slightly odd covid one way system inside. Lovely courtyard. Accepts dogs outside. Please 👍me and follow. X

The overall vibe was really good, but the food was rather bland. I got a mushroom and vege stack main and the only tasty part was the sauce, the patties were dry and had little flavour also not enough mushrooms in the dish. Cute place but probably won't go back

OMG the food here is AMAZING! We’ve been once before and we couldn’t wait to come back. When we came to Nelson last week on a public holiday they were closed and we were pretty distraught but we came back through on our way back up to Auckland and it was totally worth the wait. I had the Buddha bowl which was absolutely to die for. Things dreams are made of. My partner had the Jungle salad which had feta in it that we both swore could not possibly be vegan as it tasted to much like normal dairy feta. Only thing we didn’t like was the size of the wooden forks. They were so small and the food was sooo good they couldn’t shovel enough in at a time so next time we will bring our own reusables 😁 love your work guys! Can’t wait to come back next time we visit the South Island.

The BEST VEGAN meal I’ve ever had, I am a foodie that’s just moved from Wellington and have worked in hospitality for 15 years! and I can say the food here is incredible! Super tasty, big portions, over all just delicious! The team were warm and welcoming. happy that they are all inclusive and able to still operate under traffic light system. It’s nice to eat somewhere where they accept you for who you are. If you’re looking for somewhere to see smiley faces and eat delicious food 10000% recommend coming here! Go show some support and leave feeling full !

This place is fantastic! Best vegan food in Nelson and they are doing a fantastic job making all customers feel welcome during the pandemic. The staff are amazing, the food is great and the vibes are even better. Can’t say enough good things about this place!!

What a beautiful place! A jungle grew in neat little pots forming a fairy-like canopy across the ceiling. The food came quickly, takeaways only for now, which we enjoyed at the funky outdoor seating areas. The place was super busy and it's obvious why, the food is amazing! ALL VEGAN, GF options too!

Great, casual vegan cafe with a nice vibe and very welcoming staff. I spent the week trying out the menu and my highlight was the tumeric crepe, which is on the brunch menu (11am - 2:30pm) but this should definitely be on the evening menu too!

Fave place to eat, food is always amazing, staff are so so lovely. Such a nice vibe, from someone who has bad anxiety getting food out of home, i feel so comfortable going in knowing it’s going to be an awesome experience everytime. Being Gluten Free aswell they have heaps of delish options and cater so well to any other allergies, i love being able to come here knowing the staff can tell me what ingredients are in things so i don’t have to worry. Couldn’t recommend more, this place is fab!!

This funky place has some of the best eats in the south Island. This is one of those vegan places that gets a little creative with their food and they make the food here look as good as it tastes!

My new favorite restaurant of all time! Only problem was it was too busy to get a table. Luckily managed to get a spot by the fire. Staff were really friendly. Vegan food was the real deal too. Will definitely be back.

Really good vegetarian food, great attitude and atmosphere. You can really feel how the staff tries to brighten your day here the food is as happy as the ambiance. Today's special salad was a bit bland though the breakfast hash was really yummy. Fried potatoes were really good.

Relaxing ambience, great food, music, and friendly staff (: the staff were very welcoming when I visited on my own. Creative vegan food too. The burger with marinated jackfruit and hoisin tofu was good, though I expected thicker tofu with a richer hoisin taste. Thoroughly enjoyed the Nelson Jazz Club jam session 😎

Best vegetarian food in New Zealand! We got a fresh Sammie the Swan, a winter Hashcake, a beetroot soup and a red velvet coffee. It was well flavored other than needing a bit of salt... but I salt everything. Staff was very friendly

This place is incredible. The food is absolutely delicious. Had the 'Stacked As' dish. Probably the best meal I've had in NZ yet. Also tried the Blueberry and Fennel soda, was unique and refreshing! Wish I were in Nelson longer, to try their Summer menu.

Sit outside if you can in the cute beer garden. Good menu and food was lush. Nice beers on tap too!

This place is cuteness overload! The staff are so welcoming and nothings a problem. Be prepared to feel like a member of the family dining here. The meals are great and everything is vegan...don't hold back, bring your appetite in spades. You won't be disappointed.

Great food, especially if your looking for a vegan option, even if you're not vegan, their "meats" will make you think twice if it's real or not. Great vibe & music with good friendly service.

The mushrooms were GREAT :) went here with my girlfriend and the atmosphere was really lovely. The staff are all very kind and offer high quality customer service. The menu is extensive and each item is clearly made with a lot of love and attention to detail. The drinks are delicious and the overall environment is top notch. 10/10 recommend to everyone who visits Nelson.

Must visit when you’re in Nelson! 🌱 The food was delicious and we loved the vibe. All food ingredients are 100% vegan. The drinks are still in transition but mostly vegan already. Love that they’re using reusable metal straws and paper straws only! The staff and service are great and they all seem very passionate about their work - great energy. We had the Quesadilla and the Black bean falafel burger and they were both amazing! My partner isn’t vegan & he loved it too.

Highly palatable, mouth watering, indulgent fare. We had the sunfed noodles, chickpea fingers, and the ‘BLT’. What a treat - highly satisfied and left craving for more. Service and restaurant are top notch too. Highly recommended for everyone. Finally a vegan restaurant who know where it’s at.

It is just right place for the vegetarian, having a real burger made of 100% vege + lavender tea in the court, watching the whole piece of creative graffiti wall sometimes, all made me get into the real relaxed level

We were lucky to get a table for lunch and it was totally worth it. Greek salad bowls were awesome with very fresh produce and good serving quantity. Pancakes were great so was the bagel (one of the best pesto I've tasted). Staff is very kind and efficient. We were served in no time despite a packed restaurant. I love the menus in old records pockets! Brings a nice touch to the already cosy atmosphere.

This is a must if you visit Nelson or are a local Nelsonian. Vegan and vegetarian options are a delight for the palat. Share a platter or grab an unctuous burger with the best fries ever. Really nice atmosphere and the drinks are fabulous. A little pricey but well worth it. Tucked away so make sure you jot down directions.

I need to set the record straight. Last night I ordered the quesadilla after a long day of bicycling. It was spicy, nourishing, crispy, hot, with a wonderful red sauce in there. Thank you to the welcoming wait staff and the loving chefs.

This place is a must visit and see Cafe, Bar and restaurant, it is so retro and sixties hippie style inside and out side in front and the out back courtyard. Lovely and friendly staff, good menu, well setup bar, menu and drinks availability. Go in, eat, drink and be merry, and take the time to really look carefully as you will keep on finding more and more different things which will take a while, great stop.

Beautiful, huge portions of quality vegan food. I dont always eat vegan but recommend this to everyone. I really adored the food here - really impressed with the service, flavours and presentation. Visited having looked in lots of 'samey' restaurants and chose it because of the lively atmosphere and appetising menu. Delivered on both fronts. Food was wonderful and the place was really energetic and exciting. Nice drinks and friendly service too. Apparently it is the only vegan restaurant in North of South Island. Some people will be put off by vegan rag. You are a fool of you are. The flavours in the food are fantastic. As good as anywhere we have eaten in NZ in 3weeks. Thanks to the staff. Nice one!

Amazing fresh food (we had the yum soup and cheesecake / brownie) and all vegan and mostly gluten free as well! Service lovely and fast, ambiance relaxed and overall style really cool. It's so refreshing to have a vegan restaurant in this small town. The portions are large and delicious. I go almost every week, and I've tried nearly the whole menu. So so good!

I woke up today with a huge hangover thought i wouldn't make it through the day but i got the breakfast stack that could rival any hangover feast you could think of +IT'S HEALTHY and the bloody Mary's are killer good man. I also daresay that these guys probably do the best coffee in town. would absolutely recommend getting a feast here to feel healthy and great to Kickstart your day after a big night out 💛

I had a meal here with about a dozen or so friends. I'm not vegan, so I'm not their ideal customer. My vegan and vegetarian friends really enjoyed the food here. And we all found the service to be very good. I particularly liked the menus which were built from old LP covers.

The place looks nice, lots of plants hanging from the ceiling make you feel you are somewhere in the park, lovely. Outside area full of wall painting and colourful pictures make the area nice together with tasty food. Not too sure about their selection of drinks... Personally I'm not a big fan of beer cans. The service is nice a 4 stars overall cos the young staff really deserve it. Will be back

I'm a part time vegetarian and this place creates really tasty vegan food. Happy feel to this venue.

This is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. All the dishes are vegetarian with many options for ordering dishes vegan or gluten free. All the dishes I tried very first class. My favourite is the Burger with home made chunky chips. It is better than any meet burger I've ever had. The stuff is friendly and they often have local life acts playing on the weekends. The drinks range from classics like lemonade to vine and beer and home made fruit smoothies. The prices are really good so are the sizes of the dishes.

Great breakfast and lunch options. The atmosphere is great and there are nice seats out the back too. Very well decorated with hanging plants and records.

Just went for dinner and honestly, the food was absolutely amazing. Some of the best food Ive ever had. Not to mentiin great customer service, the staff were really kind and came to check if we were enjoying our meals a couple times. Would definitely recommend, and am 100% going back soon.

I would give this 6 stars if I could! Amazingly fresh ingredients, beautifully presented plates, and perfect portion sizes. The atmosphere brings it all together, and this was easily my best meal while in NZ. You don't have to be vegetarian to enjoy this place!

East St cafe and restaurant is the go to place in Nelson for veggie and Vegan food. They have such a cool atmosphere. The staff are amazing and the food is even better. They make a vegan cheese cake that's better than ANY other cheesecake I have ever had. They also book cool DJs and have great dance parties! Highly reccomended

Great choice of food, we went for 'The Stack' and the 'Hot pot of gold' which were presented amazingly and tasted even better. We left full and happy with smiles on our faces, lovely atmosphere and decor in the restaurant as well. Perfect for anyone that appreciates good, well-crafted food!

Excellent little vegan restaurant, everything I've got on the menu has been fabulous but I especially like the Kimchi Pancake and the Garbanzo Fingers. Cute decor, open all day, with a bright, vibrant little patio in the back.

Groovy restaurant with lots of space, amazing food and nice staff. The food is vegetarian, gluten free and often vegan. I am not a vegan but i really enjoyed trying the meat alternatives. This place serves wonderfully unique food, some things that stood out were: fried banana blossom, amazingly diverse flavours of cheese-cake e.g pinaple lumps and beutifull presentation. The intetior is modern and indie, it has a good drinks menu and breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and desert meals. It has wheelchair access and is just off one of the main streets so easily accessible. It has toilets, an open kitchen and both indoor and outdoor seating arrangements. It has a kuds menu and is family friendly. It really stood out because of it's unique decorations, the menus were carefully crafted into old record cases, the walls are covered in fake ivy and lights and there is eye catching color throughout the sight. I totally reccomend this as a good place to go with some friends or family to enjoy a fun and delicious night out, thank you East St Cafe for our wondeful meal!

Unreal, seriously fantastic food and 100% vegan is massive. I lived in queenstown for the last year, this restaurant would be huge there, wish this place was in more places.

A great vegetarian Cafe and Restaurant close to the inner City of Nelson. A nice and cosy place with with a very individual design! I went a few times and tried different dishes and all of it was second-to-none. My favourite was the Burger with chunky chips, which are homemade. The fresh salad is also really good too and there are different options to choose from like adding marinated tofu or falafel. The menu is not overloaded with options but still offers a reasonable variety. There is the possibility to have gluten free or vegan option for many of the dishes. The atmosphere is really nice and they often have local artists playing in the evening. The prices range from 15-21$ for a main course and the size of the dishes is appropriate. All in all a great experience!!

This is my go to Veg place in Nelson. Everyone I’ve ever been there with (all non-vegans) and myself have enjoyed the food. Love the plants growing around the place. Also transforms into a great music venue.

Food was very hood. Had the stuffed mushrooms stacked on potato mash, and the impossible burger with fries. Dessert was the perky nana, it was delicious. Bit pricey, though.

This is an amazing place.Our grandaughter is vegan and we are carnivores so we went with heavy hearts but the food was delicious,apparently the menu changes constantly and it is a fascinating setting with strange and wonderful objects.Service spot on.

Really great vegetarian food. The French fries here in New Zraland are the bomb-nothing like they are in the States. One thing they can work on is the deafening live misic. I'd say turn it down a few notches, but yeah. It's worth the cheesecake if nothing else.

Go with light hearts! What is there not to love about East St? Ok, I suppose the portions could be slightly larger, but that's nit-picking. From the menus encased in old LP covers, to the friendly waitresses, to the tunes (intro'd here to Think Twice Riddim). I became a repeat customer during my few Nelson days.

Tasteless food - stuffed mishrooms and one type of salad we had. But great coffe and friendly staff memebers. Maybe we will try again some day, but it doesn't look promising

i am not a vegan --however i went there with my daughter and granddaughter who were visiting from ch--ch and they are both vegan people --it was such a fantastic experience--the staff were just so good and friendly--the meal has inspired me to go back o m g it was so yumm
