M.Arrived near closing time (at 2 and they close at 2:30) but there was no problem at all.
The waitress was very kind. The service was quick . Very well presented and juicy and tasty.
Ordered Classic BEEF Onion Dumplings (12) , Jumbo Crispy Spring Roll BBQ Pork (1) , PAN-FRIED DUMPLINGS Juicy Pork w Cabbage (12) , a ginger beer $42,47.
N.Always delicious! They've got a large variety of pan-fried, steamed, and wonton dumplings. Vegan available. Great sauce variety. The atmosphere is casual and modern, great for a quick stop or a nice dinner. It seems popular for takeaway too.
J.I work nearby and chose to come here often for lunch. The service is always awesome, the atmosphere is lovely, the prices are affordable, and most importantly the dumplings are always fresh, hot and beyond delicious. Jay's is the talk of town. Every local I know who has been loves Jay's Dumplings. Whenever someone new moves to Nelson, I make sure their introduction to local highlights includes Jay's
B.I ordered this via door dash and was surprised how quickly it came. My order was piping hot and super fresh. The crispy bottoms were phenomenal. I am so blessed that you have vegan options! Would love to see more vegan flavors available
J.The BBQ bao bun could have had more filling (would skip this next time) but the pan fried dumplings were very good, soft on top with a crispy base. Juicy filling (had prawn and garlic chive). Nice welcoming staff during lunch on 22/02.

T.Hands down the BEST dumplings in town. Staff are absolutely lovely and the atmosphere is great. DeliverEasy are also only an app download away to cover your delivery if needed. I just wish they had a bigger building to house more customers as it can be a little crampy; nonetheless, I highly recommend this place.

D.A cool, stylish place to get some scrumptious dumplings. In the open storefront is a bench and four stools looking out on the street, offering a cool breeze and the occasional people watching opportunity.
There’s a little wait since the dumplings are made from scratch. I had the Chicken with Carrot, Sweet Corn and Peas Steamed dumplings. They were a little spicy for my taste but delicious nonetheless.
The relaxed ambiance and friendly servers, along with the tasty dumplings, make this place a treat!

This place has changed quite a lot since my last review, the pork dumplings weren't great (the pork tasted super cheap/not great) this time around and the person who served me had her mask underneath her nose the whole time (which to be fair seems to be the standard way to wear it in Nelson but still isn't appropriate - either wear a mask correctly or don't wear it at all!).
Really great dumplings, generous servings and great service. If you're looking for a cheap but tasty meal, this is the place!

H.Had a quick trip to Nelson and found this cosy place, the staffs were very friendly and the food was way over expectation! the dumplings were so authentic and tasty I couldn't believe I can have this delicacy in such a small town, it should be in Auckland!
We ended up so full but still bought some extra to takeaway. will definitely come back on my next trip to the south island.

W.The pork, prawn and chive dumplings are flavorful, with a good amount of chives. The pan fried version is best for eating in, as they turn soggy when they are takeaway. The bbq pork steamed buns were delicious, with the sauce tasting just like the ones I grew up eating. Recommended if you're craving dumplings or baos when you're in Nelson!
A.Fresh handmade dumplings and definitely legit authentic. Chives and egg dumplings super well made and with super fresh chives. Pork and sauerkraut is something I have not seen outside of China and worth a shot if you are unsure what to get (boiled is the authentic way!) We just had this as a snack but wished I could keep eating, all other dishes, beef noodles etc I could see looked too quality too. Great friendly staff

M.We were the only ones in the restaurant on a Wednesday night, and pleasantly surprised! Pork and cabbage dumplings, beef and onion dumplings, and one order of the scallion and oil noodles. We got the dumplings pan fried. While it sounds simple, the food was super tasty and even better with the chile sauce/rice vinegar/soy sauce combo (not you’re regular supermarket condiments either, much better!). They are a new restaurant but highly recommend and will be back!

K.We had dinner at Jay's last night, the dumplings were delicious, as were the "new" dishes. We had the pork and Chinese cabbage dumplings and the chive and egg which were yummy! We also had the scallion oil noodles, the kung pao chicken, and the broccoli and (I think) pork dish. Everything was very tasty and the service was great too.
J.If you want to try authentic Chinese food, must visit this place. Good range of food selection with generous portion size. Twice cooked pork was epic. Staff is very friendly, helped me out to make up my mind easily. Will visit again for sure.
