Reviews of The Swedish Bakery & Cafe

My most favorite bakery in town. I named this bakery is "Happiness Bakery". It's not only about trying many kinds of tasty pastries but also the taste of happy, joys and happiness that baker has put into them.
L.
Beautiful little bakery with an amazing variety of bread & pastries and very friendly staff. As I couldn't decide what to get I had an apple pie slice with hot chocolate today and will go back tomorrow to try one of the rolls.
Update : the brie roll was very yummy and the almond croissant was just amazingly delicious - a must have if you love marzipan.
A.
Fantastic bakery with lots of Swedish goodies 🥰
W.
Really yummy almond croissant
M.
Absolutely melt in your mouth delicious. On par with, if not better than, not only European bakeries but also top bakeries in other major food cities (San Francisco comes to mind) trying their best to recreate that authentic flavor/texture. Highly recommend even if just passing through Nelson as I was.

Pastries are as close to what you get in parts of Europe as you ever get in NZ (inclusive of a smaller size). These tend to be on the sweet side.
Coffee was fine but not much space to seat.

One of the best Bakery and Coffee in New Zealand
Everything is delicious and not expensive at all
It's a place that you must be in Nelson

This is hands down the best bakery in Nelson, NZ, and possibly anywhere. If you have not heard yet, the almond croissants are probably the best you will ever have, and I think these may be possibly the best in the world. No kidding. They are so popular that if you don't go early, you will miss out on them. The baker is a wonderful Swedish lady that we befriended during our holiday there. We wanted to know who made such delectable pastries! She graciously invited us to the employee winter holiday party and we had a blast meeting them all. If you are visiting ANYWHERE remotely near Nelson, NZ, you MUST stop here in the morning and grab some delicious pastries. If you miss out on the amazing almond croissants, then you can always try some of the other scrumptious pastries there, you will not be disappointed.

I'm totally in love with that tiny place!
The ladies here are great and cheerful, the menues are balanced. The soup is awesome, and you must absolutely try the scones !
They have amazing French baguette.
A wonderful place for having lunch.
You can also bring your own cup for a take away coffee.
I totally recommend this place !

I enjoyed a fresh Sourdough bun with a wonderfully soft interior and a crunchy exterior, with a fresh croissant that was beautifully glased on the outside with a soft inside. Highly recommended.
Q.
Lovely tiny bakery. Nice soup of the day for lunch, with a choice of tartes, filled croissants and pastries. And as a French, without doubt the best bread I have had in NZ so far.
Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.

March, open but now it is closed ( could be moved, just not sure,)

Been past it many times now finally sampled it's delights. I had a Americano and a buttermilk and orange scone. Both the food and coffee was great. Checked out all the other food in the cabinet what an array of yummy looking delights to be had. The other good thing is the prices I thought were very reasonable. Definitely going back and this time it'll be for lunch. Highly recommend to check it out for yourself.

I reckon I can sort out a good baguette from a bad one. Staying in Nelson for a couple of weeks and came across The Swedish Bakery. The baguette was sublime. As good as any I have had from any number of world famous bakeries. Fragrant, chewy, crusty, everything one could hope for. Note: Nelson has a number of excellent bread experiences. Tozetti's on Vanguard makes an excellent rye.

This place offers the best breads and cinnamon buns you can get in Nelson! The stuff is really friendly and the owner often gave us a special price or something for free as we were regular customers during our whole stay in Nelson.
They offer two or three different breads every day and different pastries. You can also enjoy coffee drinks and chocolate truffles. If you like to sit down and enjoy a little treat the offer ranges from fresh, home made waffles with cream and jam over quiche to sandwiches or pastry.
There is also the possibillty to buy some Swedish specialities and great cheese from a local dairy farm as well as some organic juice.
D.
Nice place for lunch, and very well priced. Cinnamon buns were really good, lighter than I’ve had before but I liked them.
Q.
Best croissant I've had in months. Still warm as I'm eating it right now at 8 am, go early!
L.
The almond croissants looked kinda squashed and sad, but were the most delicious I have ever eaten. Great coffee too.
C.

I've been to France and tried pastries. This place has the best ones I've ever tried. The only bad thing is it's not close to my house. Highly recommended
