N.Nice modern hotel, accessible parking, clean, modern and functional room. But...we had a studio room and it appears that all studio rooms in this hotel have timber boards across 75% of the windows - apparently to protect the privacy of the neighbouring residents. The outcome is that the room is a bit like a cave. We were really disappointed - a room with no view of anything but timber boards and a bit of sky. The room itself was good, as was the hotel, but not a great place to relax and enjoy the outlook.
m.Stayed 2 nights this week. Nice new feeling hotel...only about 5 years old. Staff, cleanliness, comfort, noise and food, all excellent. The only comment would be the dinner menu could have a little more choice. Nice house wines. High class for a provincial hotel. 4 star plus easily.

D.Have to say best meal I have had. Chilli prawns were a taste sensation. I rarely order steak as I cook it pretty well but I did, and it left my cooking as ordinary. Cooked perfectly so tender. So delicious. Service also was really great. Thank you for the best meal.

u.Nice looking and welcoming place to stay. I had a late check in at 11pm as I drove down from bay of plenty the young guy that helped me check in was very friendly and welcoming great work from him, I had heard good things through word of mouth and booked through Expedia, I stayed for 2 nights in a back room on the first floor (nothing too flash or expensive) the bed and pillows are great and the room was a decent size. I am going to try the breakfast buffet in the morning because it smelt so good on my way out the first day I was here. Anyone asking I would recommend staying here I was happy with my experience.

M.Excellent hotel, clean, modern, great front office staff as expected with Novotel's that we have stayed across the world. Has a good little office nook also which is great when you need to work. The only downside was the terrible bar service from one young lady in the evening. No greeting, no smile and felt like we were doing her a disservice by asking for a drink. Another young lady later on was lovely. She was learning the ropes so was quite nervous but was very friendly and doing a great job.
L.Wonderful 4 night stay here. Always like the Novotel brand. Exceptionally clean, modern decor, upgraded us for free, plentiful toiletries and tea/coffee etc. Front of house and restaurant staff very good. Restaurant had a good breakfast buffet. No complaints at all.

P.Hotel was great, staff were friendly. Only reason its not getting 5 stars is because I ordered room service and the food was way under par for the price. Ordered a margarita pizza received a chared pita bread with very little cheese that was falling apart.

G.Room is nice however there are a couple of things that need improvement -
The curtains don’t stay at the edge of the wall so in the morning the room fills with light while you are still trying to sleep.
The sound proofing is not great - can hear the kids in the next door room.
The bed is on wheels so any movement and you are sliding across the room.
Not sure I’d stay here again.
R.Was there for a business meeting and overnight stay. The room was very tidy and laid out nicely. The bed was very nice to sleep in, to the point of a good night's sleep. The bathroom was well set up and great pressure in the shower. We had both dinner and breakfast. Both meals were very well priced and well presented. My 21 year aged fillet was melt in the mouth and the accompanying vegetables were seasonal and delicious. Dessert was Panna Cotta and very nice. Breakfast was the typical continental and cooked breakfast. Very good tasting brekky. One small complaint was the temp of the room upon arrival. The air con was on and set at 18deg cooling when during winter a good temp is 21deg warming. I will be recommending for future stays and suggested stays in New Plymouth.
P.Very comfortable rooms and relaxing atmosphere. Good breakfast. Nice - friendly staff. Ample of parking. Very fast check in and check out. Would definitely like to recommend to friends and love to visit again.
S.Recently opened hotel - very new. Pity the gym facility is bit small - one of the workout machines is broken and sauna room is out of service. But the hotel room is awesome - the bed is so comfy and room facility is top standard. We enjoyed the stay there.
S.We had the bookings for 2 nights, done over the phone.. when we landed there after 5 hours drive, they have got us booked for the next two days by mistake from thier end.. they then arranged for us to stay at a motel for that night and then we had to come baxk next day.. In my opinion that was not a good experince when you have booked for a good stay sepnding ur money and looking forward for a comfortable stay.
Everything else was Ok.. but left a bit of bad taste.

S.Wow I was blown away with this Hotel. It's very different from other Novotel I have stayed at. And I have to say it's a very boutique and cute hotel. But it's not haha. Hard to explain I recommend going .
Room.
I had a king room facing the road. No issues at all. The sound was not loud . The curtains are excellent for privacy and the room is so large you could fit another king bed in it. I was impressed. Also this was the best shower pressure I have had in a hotel and also drain system. No flooding . Was great. Cleaning of the room and service of the room was great and excellent very high standards also loved the cards they left in room to tell you who cleaned the room. Bed was very comfortable.
The restaurant was excellent the service and the product the offer for New Plymouth was also good. Meals also large. Breakfast buffet was very good as well.
Carparking and access to hotel was also easy not a Hassel only thing is . Don't park to close to the elevator . It is very tight.
Only thing I found interesting is that Housekeeping did know what I was saying or they really meant that they don't have shavers or shaving kits. Was interesting.
Getting into hotel can be tricky if you are not coming from the North . I would recommend if you come from the city you should go past McDonald's through the intersection and go the back way around to get in as the highway only gives you seconds to cross 3 lanes.
But other then that excellent stay and worth the time. Will return. Thanks Novotel .

T.The staff were very friendly and their advice of what to see was excellent. The rooms are that of any hotel. The gym is small but practical. The steam room was also small but very nice. The adjoining restaurant was aesthetically not to my taste, however, the food was delightful; possibly the best steak I've had in my life! A little far from the middle of New Plymouth but not an unreasonable walk. All and all not a bad place to stay
S.This is a great Novotel, still fairly new, rooms are tidy and comfortable. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which is great for families or friends. The room has a very well equipped kitchen compared to other hotels, also has a washing machine.
Staff were all very friendly and polite, the restaurant and bar are pretty good. Easy self car parking on site, although this did get full a couple of times but there is on street parking and the option to use the car park next door after hours.
I would definitely recommend this hotel, it is conveniently located, close to town and main roads, the one way system isn't a problem, it is so easy to go around the block if you muck it up.

S.Great service, we stayed on a Saturday & the bar was very busy so pretty noisy.. though you could not hear it from your room, we ordered room service from the restaurant & it was quick & delicious. Would suggest maybe including handwash in the bathroom, unless it was there & i missed it.

T.Had a good experience at this hotel. Good Happy Hour drinks. I am accor member and booked the room from their website. Few days after my stay I checked my account for how much points I earned for my stay but couldn't see any points added. I waited 1-2 more days than called the hotel in response i was told by the person who answered that he will call me after 2 pm. Its 11.45 pm of day after and I have neither received a phone call or points.....
M.Excellent service, Great 2 bedroom apartment in the hotel. Very spacious lounge. Love the bathroom and shower room. All queen size bed.
The location is closed to everywhere with walking distance. Very recommended when you visit New Plymouth.

G.Stayed in room 134 with view to the road. Check in was fast and when entering the room, I was happy to see that it was quite a large room. Being opened in 2016, the hotel still seems quite new. The room had a multi colored and multi pattern carpet and light walls. The room had a small desk and chair, to comfortable chairs and a small table and the bed of course. The bed was comfortable but I would have enjoyed a thicker duvet but that is just because that is what I’m used to. There were a TV mounted on the wall with quite a few channels and quite a bit of places to plug in to charge – but it would have been good with international sockets. I got Wi-Fi access with a given password and the Wi-Fi connection was good around the hotel. The download speed was quite good, but the upload speed was very slow in my opinion.
There was also a small minibar with water, coke, beer and wine (a Coke was 4 NZD) and a drawer with some snack. The wardrobe included a good iron and ironing board, a small safe and some hangers. I would have appreciated more hangers. The temperature in the room was controlled by aircon and worked fine and lighting in the room was great.
The bathroom was also very nice with dark tiles on the floor and big mirror. The shower area was large and there were the standard amenities of shampoo, shower gel, lotion etc.
Breakfast area was in the restaurant and the selection of food was very good. Eggs, bacon, bread, cereal, good coffee etc. It is a bit strange that windows were open so that small birds could fly in and out of the restaurant. There was a lounge in the reception area that had various seating and it was a good place to meet and work a bit. There is a small gym and a sauna on the ground floor.
Location of the hotel is OK. I’m OK with walking and it took about 10 minutes to reach the middle of Devon street where most restaurants are located.
All in all: a quite a nice hotel that would have been perfect if it was located in the middle of town.

A.Great hotel. Clean and new. Room was very well thought out with USB and hdmi sockets. Only a shower in the bathroom but a good one. Decent size tv and a comfortable bed. I did not eat in the bar/restaurant but had the club sandwich on room service, it was average. Undercover car park was useful in the rain. It is tricky pulling into the hotel though as you have to cross 3 lanes of traffic. Overall very nice :)

F.Visited this property in February 2019. Convenient location and easy to get transport to and from destinations in the area. The coast/beach area was a short 15-20minute walk away. Rooms were reasonably sized, clean and comfortable but the ground floor had an odd smell in the hallway when I arrived which also lead into the room unfortunately. This wasn’t too much of an issue so it wasn’t reported. Shower was excellent and room service was prompt however it took a little while to get through to room service via the room phone. Staff at the front desk were also very friendly and assisted with all enquiries.
J.Attended a staff xmas function upstairs. Meal was average meat very well cooked and decorations on table were very nice. When the entertainment started it was far too loud. We could not hold a conversation between ourselves. The entertainment was good but very overpowering having been an entertainer myself I would suggest they make some adjustments to the volume the meal was nice but average. Was surprised there were no restrooms on the same level where we were you had to go downstairs to reach them
l.Rooms were ok, restaurant was great! Fish and the lam was really good. Lousy gym though! No mirror and no water in the gym either was broken, no comfortable place outside for smokers. Would I come back? No, but would come back to the restaurant.
S.Place should be 3 star, the baked camembert was cold. Asked to get it heated but only got it back warm, the bread that come with it was like a rock.

S.Stayed here a few times for business and pleasure (separately). Friendly and welcoming staff. Very well appointed and modern rooms. Love the rain showers here! Plenty of on-site parking. Would recommend the bar for a quiet drink after a long day.

I haven’t had one bad experience with the staff here, although I stay/dine every few weeks. However I have had many great experiences with them.

H.First of all, amazing customer service! We had an error in our bookings and a crying baby in our group but the staffs handled it professionally. Great location with many covered carpark, close to supermarkets and restaurants. Comfy rooms, clean, tidy and nice housekeeping. Highly recommended!

C.We had a family lunch at the restaurant. Really nice environment. Several people had the fish which was very nice. I had the burger which was tasty. My sister had risotto that was quite sticky.
Staff were friendly and pleasant, but really need some training. We had to go to bar and ask to order drinks. They did not bring dessert menu, I had to go and ask for it! Had a bottle of wine in ice bucket, no one offered top ups. Almost felt like we were there too long and they forgot about us sadly. Carol

J.The hotel is located around the city centre so everything is within easy reach. Food options are available around the hotel. Check in was fast and stag's are very helpful if you have requests. Rooms are clean and have large windows giving you lots of natural light.

P.Good hotel with nice rooms I can realy recommend, only the breakfast buffet is very smal and not a lot of healthy food, further, no real bread, no fresh fruitsalat, fruits from the can, no sausage products, no cheese, no salat, no fresh yogurt.
This breakfast buffet is a shame for a NOVOTEL, also the restaurant was very noisy, you cannot have a quiet dinner.

T.Sharing platter for lunch at stylish Governors Eatery & Bar at Novotel New Plymouth Hobson with my best friend was such a pleasure! Excellent choice in matching textures and flavours! Wine matched too. 😉 It was Allan Scott Wines pinot gris . Had to force myself from ordering the second glass! After all it was only lunch.

V.Very nice hotel, the employees are very nice, smily and very helpful. They gave lots of very good tips to discover the area. Bike location is free just ask the reception. The room was very comfortable and clean, just missing a nice view.
