Definitely a good value. The food is not exceptional, but for the lunch price it’s certainly not disappointing. Full selection of fried foods, some soups, and a cold food bar with some salads, seafood and sushi. Desert bar with sweets and ice cream. A great place if you are hungry and not looking for anything memorable. The staff were really kind and it was really quiet when we visited (1pm).

Really have nothing to complain. This price you can't get a bowl of salad in an average Auckland restaurant. The Crispy Roasted Pork Belly, is absolutely devine! I'm not sure many Auckland restaurants could beat it here. The selection of desert is amazing. They even have Creme Brulee. I thought only Cordis have such things. Well, it would be better if they put a chocolate fountain in the centre but hey, less than 30 bucks! Very friendly staff here. Definitely for visitors and locals.

It was our first time going here after hearing very good things from friends and family. We rang ahead to check how busy they were and we were able to go in within 10mins of ringing (they reserved us a table). Smorgasbord/buffet style. All the food was awesome, they had a range of Chinese (sweet and sour pork, fried rice, chow mein etc), Fried foods (chips, spring rolls, nuggets, fish bites etc), PORK BELLY, soups, salads, sushi and best of all... OYSTERS in their shell!!!! 😋👌 Desserts were great too and they even had Creme Brule which was another first for me... Pricing per head was worth it, and overall experience was great so we will definitely be back again

Was a great buffet meal. 30 of us for a family reunion. Oysters/prawns/Crispy pork belly, just to name a few delicious items and buffet dessert too. Very reasonable at $28 a head. Children pay their age.

Had to pay in advance. I would expect to pay in advance in a takeaway or food court, but it's first I have come across for a fully licensed restaurant. This effectively means if I need more drinks, I will have to approach the cashier each time I need a drink. It simply ruin the enjoyment of having a relaxed meal.

Overall what I’d expect as an American going to a buffet- although there were a few alternative dishes like cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes, for example. Oysters, prawns and shrimp on the buffet were decent; the beef plus the chicken with broccoli were good.

Tasty and a reasonable wide variety to select from makes this a must visit eating place. Staff were friendly and atmosphere quiet but friendky and welcoming. Yum yum yum.

We had a lovely buffet lunch with great friends there today. Staff were excellent and food was well presented and delicious. Premises were spotless. We will be back.

I absolutely love Sun World, super cheap, food is always fresh, all the years ive been going there, ive never had a bad experience.. highly recommended, wish we had a Sun World in Hawera.. would be great!! 😁👍

One of the few places to get Chinese food in New Plymouth. We had a buffet of OK quality, reasonable variety ( surprisingly no roast meats or veges). The pictures don't really reflect the food - it was just dumped on a plate rather than beautifully placed.

Really good for its price (29 for adult). well i mean 29 dollar per adult buffet i don't expect the food to be so good, the hot food is mostly made up of fried food expect the chicken and beef in gravy.

It was pretty good. I mean food was topped up regularly. I didn't like the fact that the restaurant was empty but people kept getting their seats next to us. Its like the owners wanted to keep one area dirty. I mean good idea but i would have preferred space. I might go back as it was worth the money.

Awesome buffet. Mean if u like prawns on everything like I do. Mussels not the best but chowder was great with extra extra prawns. And the creme brulee is wonderful. I ate 5 of the and was a happy full man.

Hubby and I were in New Plymouth for thee weekend and were looking for a buffet restaurant...stumbled across this place on Friday evening. Was ok...plenty of tables..it was actually very quiet. Food wasnt the greatest...but staff were very friendly.

Beautiful service easy to find and eat as much as you want. Careful can over eat! But salads, seafood, hot foods asian based. Very enjoyable. Good for place to celebrate birthdays or any event.

Pleasantly surprising. Nice variety of food and fresh. Not too expensive. Only 4 stars as its advertised as having oysters but there was none on the night I was there.

Love this place, meals I choose for myself are lovely and light, food isn't over tasty, as in drowned in sauces, salt etc, you have the choice to do that yourself, their desserts are the same, not heavy, i always leave contented and happy, thankyou Sunworld N/P😊

Great food! lots of variety with the all you can eat smorgasbord so you can really fill your belly up. We have gone here many of times before and its always keeping the same standard. I have noticed in the odd occasion of the food maybe having a little too much seasoning but i know when we go next time it should taste better. My family loves coming here as its not just a set meal there is a variety of choices. reasonable price too. We always go just after they open as this place tends to fill up pretty fast which is great

Best place your birthday meal is free with 3 other people. You can hear very person who is talking to you. Without the noise cars going pass the restaurant. I have been there many times before and I love very moment. And love been with the people came with me that time. We laughed, happy, smiles on our faces, with the good time we are having at the Sun World Chinese Restaurant very time we go to the restaurant. And we go feeling good with our self's. Happy New year for 2020.

If you want a buffet feast with the best of kiwi Chinese takeaways then this is for you. It's got the classics your local does but done super well. It's cheap as chips the staff were amazingly accommodating and we had the best time. I'm a first time visitor but obviously the locals know! The dessert bar had creme brulee and it was delicious. It also had a ice cream station and full selection. TOP NOTCH!

Went here tonight for an 85th birthday celebration & as usual, the selection & taste of food was outstanding, the atmosphere was bright & welcoming plus the staff were so nice! Friendly, helpful & efficient. Sun World is definitely the best value smorgasbord restaurant in New Plymouth - very highly recommended!! 😊😊

Sun World, best place to have a meals. Have nice meal with your family and friends. The food are soooo good to eat. It quiet place you don't hear the cars going pass the restaurant. You can enjoy your meals not having the sound of cars going back and forth in front of the restaurant front.

If your looking for a cheap all you can eat, this is the place, foods very good for the price can't complain.

Pretty good food however there was a shortage in plates so I had to wait in line while they washed the plates but overall good food.

We had My Mums 80th here. We had a lunch. It was affordable, yummy and great service. Would go again.

You eat free on your birthday if 2 or more people spend $20 or more you get dinner on the house. Bar prices are reasonable. Pretty affordable good eating. Staff are help and friendly. Homely atmosphere

Lovely place to dine. Not the best most glamourous food any more. Starting to turn into a fish n chip smorgasbord takeaway shop. They dont seem impressed we rather drink water. Very clean place buy prefer if they turned on the heat pump. Last time we dined there it was freezing cold. So we won't return unless its a hot day.

Food wad great tonight may have been due to it being free as it's my birthday tomorrow lol. Only one minor complaint too much Raspberry in my Raspberry coke. Tasted too sweet

I love Sunworld buffet. We had our wedding reception here in the old venue and loved it. And we are regulars to the new venue. Huge range of great food to suit young and old and everyone in between. I especially enjoy the new edition of Kimchi! Yum! 5 stars ✨

Dined here for fhe first time two weeks ago as we love dining Asian buffets..greeted warmly and given a great window table..very good food selection and enjoyed our evening there..look forward to returning next week..will make it our regular go to.

Nice spread of foods hot and cold reasonable variety similar to a nice Chinese takeaway meal but with extra salads. Tea and coffee to finish. Good desserts too. Very tidy.
