I have had the best dinning experience at the Good Home last Friday thanks to the wonderful staff Kim. I walked in around 4:20pm and was hoping I can have an early meal sorted before picking up my daughter finishes her ballet class at 5pm. Kim politely told me dinner starts at 5 but she was willing to talk to the kitchen for me so I could sit down and eat. Swiftly she got back to me and got a table for me & my son. And I have my order in right the way. While waiting for my food (Surf & Turf sticks) , my 5 yrs-old needed the toilet(typical!) so we went & when we came back Kim was there looking after my food. She was there making sure my prawns weren’t overlooked on the hot stone. She’s just so wonderful! And she is aware I had to eat quickly and she’s always there ready for help. When I finished she said “ now you still got time to pick up your daughter :) ” What can I say!? Food at Good Home was as great as usual but the experience with Kim’s amazing service has definitely brought the dining experience to next level. Thank you Kim & Good Home!

Went with a group of friends for dinner tonight and was served by a lovely lady called Kim, who is an absolute credit to your establishment. Fantastic service and a really lovely personalised service. We mainly ordered steaks, which were delicious, only niggle was that the garlic mash was a bit dry.

Been here for lunch and the food was good. Sitting outside with the good weather was a bonus. Tried their wings, caesar salad and chicken pizza and we enjoyed it. The staff Kim was so friendly and made the over all experience even better. Would definitely visit again.

Pizza here is great, they have a good range of platters and bar food. A reasonable range of beer and liquor, I'd go somewhere else for cocktails. Stonegrilled food is served here, high quality meat from local butchers. Rate that highly. Amazing venue, good outdoor areas on both sides with access to a rooftop bar at the front. Cozy inside the bar. Outdoor seating can be uncomfortable if you're there for a while. I like this bar, it has a relaxing vibe.

THE GOOD HOMES is my favorite spot for a good bar&grill meals. Nothing but good vibes AT The Good Homes. Very tidy and very clean. The menu and variety of daily specials is awesome. The Steak selection is next level, along with the selection of sides and sauces that complements the whole dish😁. Well done to the team at The Good Homes with their family and friends service😊😀.

Reasonable place for drinks and meals. The prawns dished out were not the best... But they tried as they were not on the menu. Lot of the mains looked pretty ordinary and tasted ordinary too. Ok to visit once. Need to lift up the hand in terms of freshness of food.

A great outdoor patio, fantastic portion sizes (except the tiramisu and veggie stone plate), great pricing on the burgers and the fish and chips! The stone grille items were a wee bit expensive, as well as the desserts (the churros were worth it though, the tiramisu was not).

Hands down the best feed we have had in the last 4 nights. Great staff. Great space. Great specials. If we had have eaten here on our first night we would have just eaten here every night. High value for money, really recommend. Make sure you book to avoid disappointment as it gets busy. Walking past on the other nights the good home has always been pumping. Music upstairs may be a bit loud but downstairs was nice and quiet. Stop reading and just go get a feed!

Despite the construction going on we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. We had the mussels in wine cream sauce to start with. She had a pinot gris and I had sauvignon blanc. The mussels were great and the server offered us extra bread for the sauce which was really moorish. I went with the lamb back strap. Delicious. Perfectly cooked and loved the beetroot with edamame spread around the plate. She had the duck risotto. She enjoyed it and took some home. Banana fritters for dessert for me while Miss chose the lava cake. Blown away with both and packed up some for home because of the generous servings so far. Service was excellent, food stands up under scrutiny and so at the end of the day the construction didn't matter. Well priced and worth it.

Great pub style restaurant in the heart of New Plymouth. Very generous portions, family friendly and great service. Wait staff were knowledgeable, regular and friendly. Food came relatively quickly despite the restaurant being very busy. We had the squid and baby back ribs as starters which were massive. We all ordered 300g rib eye steaks. They came with two good sides and a cauldron of sauce. If you are looking for a place that caters for a variety of tastes, I definitely recommend The Good Home. Will happily visit again. P.S. Great food and good location - only disappointment was on arrival it stated please wait to be seated and we stood and waited for five minutes - not a good start to our experience. They were busy and struggled to keep up so if you are in a hurry don’t go on a Friday night. Generally though worth the visit for the superb food

Called to book a table on our journey to New Plymouth on Tuesday 20th April, despite booked out said they would put 2 tables together to accommodate our group of 6. We were not disappointed. Lovely ambience, attentive staff and delicious food! Pull apart bread was delicious, mussel and clam dish had those that ate it licking their lips. Cocktails yummy. An enjoyable night for all of us. Would love to come back!

Fantastic place to take friends. For meals their stone grill meals are excellent for couples. The service is bery friendly and polite. The eating area is away from the bar and games room. It also has an upstairs area for eating and drinking and views.

Amazing service and all of the staff went above and beyond! We had a whanau birthday party tonight, children and all... they really looked after us and gave it a homely atmosphere. Food was on point and we look forward to dining there again. 5 Star service tonight!

The rooftop bar was full so we sat downstairs inside. Service was good and the hand cut chips were tasty and I have to say the gravy was so good and a great touch! Also served with tomato sauce and Aioli. Only down side was the doors were open and we realised we were right by the designated smoking area which is not fun for non-smokers so check that first. Unbooked dinner experience on Saturday 7th November 2020: Front of house was excellent. They were obviously very busy but the gentleman who met us went out of his way to find us suitable seating for a meal. Great pub grub - Service was very friendly & timely and the food was great. Very tasty and well priced. Definitely recommend. Apologies for not having the name of the indian man who met us at the door, but he was exceptional.

We were over in the Naki for the LAB concert and had a great experience here. The staff were great and unfortunately I can't remember her name, but the lovely woman that looked after us was awesome. Food was fantastic and look forward to coming back again. Great work team.

Went out on a date night for the first time in forever since we had kids and treated ourselves to the ultimate platter. Absolutely delicious, the mussels and chilli squid were standouts but everything was moreish. Totally worth it. Food came quick and the staff were great. Highly recommended.

Having not been to the Good Home since the beginning of the year and having been a number of times last year, we were very disappointed with the service. Our steaks were awesome but the salad was lacking flavour. We also had to go looking for salt and pepper for our table and these were found on a table with a cleaning cloth which made us feel uncomfortable. Then we waited, and waited, and waited for our dessert order to be taken but no one came. In the end we left without having a dessert which means that was four sales lost. Whilst accepting Covid restrictions are having an impact' the area we sat in was cluttered and untidy. Overall a very disappointing experience especially considering we have had such great meals in the past.

The food here was delicious, everything that we ordered was cooked perfectly, would recommend the bacon burger and ribs. This place is also dog friendly or pet allowed, they give out a free puppacino.

Strolling the coastal Walkway and feel peckish and thirsty? .I suggest taking the tunnel near the wind wand and walk across the park to this awesome eatery. Friendly staff and choice of dining areas. Currently under Reno but don’t let that deter you. Outdoor dining and in-house a menu with variety. Order a steak in your choice of cut on display The daily menu is full of variety and delivers in abundance. Highly recommend chick tacos at $14 will feed two. The fries are the best ever home made with crunchy bits- yummy.

My friends and I have been coming here almost every week for the past year. I personally think It’s one of the best restaurants if not the best restaurant in NP. Free wifi, great location, chilled atmosphere, nice outdoor areas and just a really good environment to be in. All staff are so friendly, genuine and well trained. They’re very attentive and have an eye for detail. There’s been cases where we have had tables of 10+ and the manager can take all of our orders with out even writing anything down. They notice if we need extra cutlery or drinks and always ask how everything’s going. Plenty of food options with really great deals, tastes amazing and perfect potion sizes. Over all a really comfortable place, great food and lovely staff!

A lively yet homely restaurant that appeals to all. Great atmosphere and a well-thought-out layout makes it work well. Customers of all ages, many of them regulars it seems. Very child friendly for the Tuesday afternoon we visited. Toys and colouring provided for our two year old. The bowl of chips was epic-huge with the most delicious gravy I've had in ages! Great value. There are different seating areas all around for whatever vibe suits you including outdoor areas. I'll be back!

My first experience of stonegrill. We ordered the stonegrill platter, so the meat was brought to the table on a sizzling stone slab for us to cook to our liking, accompanied by generous sides of chips and salad. All of it was excellent. Service was attentive.

We visited a few weeks back. We were with family. The place was inviting and cosy. We were a party of 9. The food was 50/50. The chicken wings and frys were awesome. The pizzas were not so great. We ordered a chicken pizza and a veg pizza. There was barely any chicken on the pizza and the veg pizza was tough to chew. Needed more staff. 2nd/3rd visit- Was pleasantly surprised on our subsequent visits. We were pleased with our order. Atmosphere always cosy and welcoming. Friendly staff. Very busy establishment.

On holiday from Auckland. Excellent ambiance. Great food and service except for the smashed avocado which was a paste with a few blocks of feta cheese. When I said I was disappointed, I was told that it was avocado that is made to use as a paste for the Mexican pizza and that other people have also complained! I guess it's something that they are not going to make a effort to fix. I think it should be removed from the menu.

In any case you should know your stock levels before taking someones order, its embarrassing for you to have to come back to us after an order is placed for multiple orders to then have to establish alternatives, let alone annoying to the customer.

Stone grill is the specialty of the house although plenty of other selections are available. Decor is deliberately varied as per the 'home' theme with the multiple spaces providing both indoor and outdoor options. Service is typical of a bistro style establishment and pricing a little high in my view but tempered by heavily discounted daily specials.
