A upper class takeaway? The food was not bad. Garlic butterfly prawn looks better than it tastes and the seafood chowder was a bit bland. No table service and you go pick up your food when ready. The venue was nice though

This place is in the perfect location, beautiful facade and amazing staff and food. I’ve come here four times already! Friday Live Music is a bonus! The singer Haylee has got beautiful voice… They also do happy hour and Pilsner is my absolute favorite. I have been enjoying everything in there and will be in the future too:) Highly recommended!!

Had very high expectations. Staffs are very friendly. Seafood chowder is good. Chips are okay. Garlic Grilled Shrimps were good. Salmon Steak had bones (No Salt) and served with very sour sauce. Very long queues due to staff shortage.

Brilliant. As a coeliac I absolutely appreciated the gluten free options and preparations they have. We had Herbie greet us this evening and he made the place! He was perfectly welcoming and wonderfully helpful. Lovely character. And how wonderful to have a restaurant support live music! We very much enjoyed listening to local artist, Alex from Kerkeri.

The guy staff (waiter) is superbly welcoming and friendly! (Felt bad didnt get his name and should have posted here). Good location. A bit away from the busy traffic. They have an area for kids to play around. Good food too!

The best of all. We went there as french tourists exactely 2 years ago. We spent 4 nights at Pahia and went 4 times at JFS. Gorgious and delicious meals with fishes of the day, smart beers, mild prices and very kind welcome. We will be back!

Nice fresh fish and really nice real chips! Big portions, especially the chips! Be mindful of that. (if you haven't been in NZ for long you may not be ready for the tomato sauce instead of ketchup) They had about 3 different types of cider, in bottles. Excellent warm service and lovely food! They also had plenty of seating, both indoors and outdoors, and were quick to serve us. Thoroughly recommend! 😄

From the other end of NZ I ordered a birthday meal to be delivered to my sister who lives in Paihia. The ordering process was straightforward but what impressed me the most was the friendly and courteous service I received from the woman that helped me. She was AMAZING. The meal was delivered on time and I even received a phone call from my lovely lady to let me know the meal had been delivered and that my sister was super excited. My sister loved her birthday treat and I loved dealing with JFC. Your staff are awesome. Thank you so very much.

Couldn’t find anything interest to eat at the Main Street, so we have decided to walk along the seaside to try our luck. We have accidentally hit the jack pot for food at Pauhia. Many say fish n chip is easy food, for me yes it is easy to cook if you got all the right and fresh ingredients. I am so surprise they offer bluenose fish and snapper for fish choice. Both fish are not cheap fish to be honest. And the battered are just right, personally I prefer my bluenose to be pan fried as I really enjoy the texture of this particular fish. But the highlight of the day is the chowder soup, this is the best chowder I ever have in my life, as soon as you open the lid you can smell fish and clam and mussels coming out from the bowl. The taste is purely seafood and fish stocks. (Most restaurants would add chick stock since it is a much cheaper ingredients, but even a kids can taste it if you add chick stocks to a seafood chowder). I am genuinely really enjoyed this meal. The only thing i can suggest is they can offer the choice of sweet potato chips as well.

Everything about this place is perfect if you're looking for a great fish&chips meal. The location/venue is next level from your ordinary Fish&Chips place, the food is delicious for F&C + super quickly served and the cherry on top... The staff is super friendly. Highly recommend if you are looking for a quick, good meal + there is an extensive drinks list for those in need of an alcoholic beverage There is an outdoor place for kids to play around (perfect for the 2 toddlers we had with us). Thumbs up!

The place has a nice atmosphere, with a nice unintrusive music background. It s a very clean, the staff is nice. The food is good but pricey. -$12,50 for a piece of gurnard (I pay $6 at home). The fish was nice, and the batter was tasty. -$4,50 for a scoop of fries to feed 1person (I pay $3,50 back home, but it feeds 3 adults). But the fries are made from fresh potatoes, which is so rare in NZ. (when chips are half your trade, I ve never understood how kiwi fish n chips couldnt be bothered to make them by hand from fresh potatoes)

Went with my family easter friday for dinner. Really friendly staff and an amazing singer performing. Got two platters worth $50 each and a vegetarian burger. The platters came with smoked salmon that seemed to be the same stuff out of a packet from the supermarket but the rest of the food was okay. I would say the platter would have cost them maybe $10 to make. For $50, I would expect the salmon to be home made or at least gourmet smoked salmon. The price is my reasoning for the low rating otherwise the place is great and family friendly with games to play with the kids and a lovely setting amongst beautiful landscaping. If the food was cheaper I would go again definitely.

Really good fish and chips. Portions weren’t huge but guess that’s probably a good thing. Situated in a lovely old building not far from the beach. Pétanque court and giant connect four! On the expensive side but worth it. Recommended for lunch in particular.

Yes this place is very new, with “Established 2019” on the sign out the front. Nice new, modern and clean interior with outdoor tables for the warmer months ( which was not the case last night). Very friendly and attentive staff. As the name says, it is basically just fish and chips and you will get them wrapped in paper whether you eat in or take away, but all the food was very good. You will also get biodegradable use once cutlery, so don’t expect silver service. The licensed bar was also very well stocked. All in all a good place to get a reasonably priced meal and well worth a visit.

Ate here November 2019. What a lovely welcome and a helpful explanation of food. We chose the special deal of starter main and dessert plus a main as well. Fabulous fresh fish. The owners have really got this right. Bio degradable. Light fresh simple interior plus outside dining. Licence has good drinks menu making this a simple yet good food meal plus drinks. Well done to meet the needs of this market. We wish you well.

I am from Michigan and I really have not had any fish and chips. Today was the first time. There fish and chips are amazing!!!! The best food I've ever had!!! 10/10. Get the terrine!! We had the terrine (obvs), taramatasala, garden salad, chips and battered warehou. Amazing. I would and will come back. Only critique is that the aioli (which is delish) comes in a plastic pot when everything else os either cardboard/wooden. Great service too.

Alright, let's start with the basics: The fish and chips are what they ought to be: Pretty perfect pieces of fish and chips along with a great tomato sauce. we loved eating them at this really nice place that also has a lovely service. Speaking of the service: We had hung the rain cover of our baby stroller to dry at Just Fisch and Chips but only realized that we had left it there two weeks later. Having traveled on in our campervan to the opposite end of North Island, I was pretty much sure we'd never see the cover again. However, the owners of JFC had kept it for the whole two weeks, just in case we'd come back for it! They even offered to send it on to our campervan rental company. This way we got it back right before hopping onto our flight back to Europe. So thank you so much for making this big extra effort apart from the already lovely service at JFC!
