C.Wow what an amazing place. Our first time there for our 14th wedding anniversary. The best steak ever and the service was amazing. We didn't have to wait for drinks and the staff were so friendly and efficient.
The best part was when we got a special little surprise and that really made our day.

The staff are now attentive and well trained, the meals delicious - if a little slow in arriving, but I'm assuming that's staffing issues with Covid - and the atmosphere invigorating.

S.I took my family for a meal last night. The food was amazing. The steak was perfect and the sauce was to die for. The service was truly wonderful. As I couldn't find my vaccine pass. The front of house was so patient. Our waitress was amazing too. Will be back soon

I.We love this place because of the service and food.
We are a group of teachers (20 of us) who had a meal together last night. I was able to email through the entrees so when we sat down it was only a few minutes until they arrived. They ensure your drink is topped up and it's no trouble to ask for extra cream etc with dessert! Kātahi te wharekai tino pai ko tēnei.
H.The food is divine. They have very friendly waitresses and seems to be very popular as they were very full.
We were served by Rebeka, Kitty and Mitch, thanks to the kind English lady at reception too. I did not carch her name.

The only criticism is the garnish and potato mash of the steak. Taste a bit bland and dry.

Scotch Fillet very tender, the garlic tarragon sea salt butter went perfectly with my steak. We can add the peppercone sauce for $1 extra. Cream Brulee a nice dessert to cap off the evening.
J.Delicious and inventive, Aberdeen is a local’s best recommendation for great food in Palmerston North. A huge dining room cleverly broken into cozy nooks makes for a charmingly private feeling without feeling walled off in your cell. Satre’s Huis Clos ain’t here.
The menu is ambitious but robust. You have no one to blame for indecisiveness but yourself as the chef as proposed a balanced but thorough set of dishes, and dedicates one-sixth of it to quality steak.
The kitchen has a real skill in its sea food options. The octopus entrée is particularly delicious and when coupled with battered oysters makes for a stellar ’fruits de la mer’ choice. Pork belly is served exactly as you’d want it ensuring there are choices for the more conservatively inclined diner.
The drinks list is brilliant if a bit heavy with kiwi wines. The range shows some good thought is covering the spectrum of kiwi vintages, but could be bolstered with a couple of European or California bottles of only to fill out the subtlety area New Zealanders are less dedicated to making. Wine list prices are very comfortable for some great bottles.
The staff were lovely throughout and have honed their skills to make every night some kind of occasion. Food prices aged on the heavier side of NZ averages, but the quality of ingredients and skill explain that.
Go here for a superb restaurant experience easily rivalling the top notch restaurants in Wellington and Auckland, and enjoy exploring culinary concepts beyond what you’d expect in the provinces!

E.Meals dropped in quality and prices have increased. This place used to be one of the best in town but the quality has gone downhill. Garlic bread at the start felt like it was microwaved not toasted. The eye-fillet steaks ordered were below a premium quality cut, and both mediums came out too raw and bloody, the creamy mash was quite lumpy, and one dessert we wanted was not available. Service was okay and friendly, even though one waiter was walking around in shorts and sneakers. Disappointing that this place seems to have lost its premium restaurant standards it used to have.

R.I've been a customer for years, but never a "regular". Under new ownership some things, like the Angus steaks, are as good as ever, but the overall impression is that the standard has slipped from a focus on fine dining.
The Led lights give the impression of a Chinese buffet, and the music a little too loud and upbeat. Overall it has lost the appeal it once had.
Don't get me wrong, the service was excellent and unobtrusive , the food good, but at $100 per head it needs to have an atmosphere. Dusty light bulbs and cobwebs cancel out the fireplace and outside space. Little details are missing.
I'll go back, and I'll still recommend it to others, but it's no longer my first choice

E.Is a great place for dinner and only bother going out for dinner to the best palmerston north has to offer. However on this occasion were let down by lack of availability on the menu. The mains we selected were sold out, along with the wine and dessert. On top of this the waitress defended how filthy the glasses were. We still enjoyed the meals we had but won't be rushing back.

B.We ordered online for 4 dinners to pick up. 2 Scotch fillets, one linguine and one lamb. I'm not a fan of char-grilled anything so that was a minus for me, however, the steaks were "melt-in-your-mouth" tender and beautifully done to our taste, the sauces were fabulous, chips amazing and our sons are raving about their chosen meals. We'd called a few times during the day and nothing was too much; the staff were just so welcoming. We can't fault it. We will be back!

R.We had a 6pm Saturday booking but arrived 10 minutes early. So were quite surprised to find the restaurant half full at 5.50pm. For this reason I would definitely recommend booking. We had entrees and mains, all of which were lovely. The decor of the restaurant was very nice and the place had a nice intimate atmosphere. An open fire was crackling away which made it lovely and warm. I could barely fault our experience. And we were in and out in just over an hour, which served us well as we had a movie to catch. Would visit again for sure.

C.The baguette was delicious, the surf and turf was fantastic and the desserts were divine. Accompanied with Shiraz and a coffee after made the meal even better. The cost for four people ($55-60 pp) was very reasonable given the class of food prepared for us. Also, the serving times which were very quick. The service was very professional and polite and all service staff were attentive to our needs upon request. Why the four star rating? The ambience was lacking and we were made to wait at the bar prior to being seated for 5-10 mins. We were given a complimentary dish which I assume was a form of compensation and it was delicious and much appreciated (again, great service). Overall, I was impressed by the Aberdeen and enjoyed the night out. A 5 star rating to me represents perfection and the Aberdeen is nearly there but not quite just yet. Thanks for the great night.

S.Easily the best meal I've had in Palmy. And probably some of the best service I've had from a restaurant anywhere in NZ. This is a restaurant with old fashioned service values, the staff were super friendly and attentive with excellent knowledge of the food. Which was also excellent. I had pork belly and scallops for an entree, which was good, but an interesting mix with the pear salad... The fish of the day main however was outstanding. I can highly recommend Aberdeen and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
B.This has to be one of the best restaurants I've ever visited in Palmerston North. The food was amazing the atmosphere was awesome and the drinks were absolutely delicious. A little bit on the pricey side of it for what you get out of it it definitely makes it worth it at dinner for two cost about $120 and that's with mains entrees and two drinks each so definitely worth it when you think about it. The staff were very attentive and very caring but at the same time not being in your face about the food or the service.

K.I had booked a night away for my parents, and booked their evening meal at aberdeen. I gave them my credit card details so i could pay for their dinner. ( i expect there may be a mix up here!!) But not at all. Brilliant!!

I had a call from aberdeen after they had left just to let me know how their evening had gone. I was super impressed. Their professional service and the quality of the meals that were enjoyed were outstanding.

P.Had the scotch fillet steak, and I have to say it was one of the nicest steaks I can recall having. It was cooked exactly how I liked, and the food with it was great. Prices are up there, but not too bad at all when you take into account the food and atmosphere. Overall a great experience

A.I loved the steak I had. An inch and a bit thick piece of sirloin; cooked as I'd ordered, which was a pleasant surprise - making it even more enjoyable. I also ordered Au Gratin potatoes; which, whilst appearing small compared to the portion size of the house fries being served to other diners, was sufficient. The seasonal veges portion; whilst also not huge, was a nice accompliment to the rest of the food on my plate and perfectly cooked.

The service was brilliant, our waitress (Hana) was so friendly, energetic and on point throughout the night. Which was amazing as it was only her second day on the job.
The food was so incredibly delicious too. Everything was cooked exactly as you would want it and perfect portion sizes for you to be able to actually eat 3 courses and feel full but not like a fat pig afterward. Also with how busy it was you'd expect a wait for food but everything was so prompt.
Also as such a nice touch, at the initial introduction we were asked if we were celebrating anything special and we advised we were there for my birthday not thinking much of it.
But after main they brought out a plate wishing me personally a happy birthday in chocolate sauce with some passionfruit truffles which were delicious. My name was said only once (not particularly loudly) and the booking was under my partners name so to me that shows the attention to detail the staff have.
Overall this was easily one of the best restaurant experiences of my life and would gladly reccomend them to anyone looking for a good meal and a good time.

s.Sooo disappointed! Had a 70th birthday celebration sat 15th august. Place was packed and obviously Chefs were stretched as our meals were pathetic! Steak under cooked, prawns overcooked and served with a lonely lettuse leaf! Our total bill was almost $1,000 with drinks for13 diners. $ 50.00 for a "T Bone steak" which was the size of a small fillet. Believe me my farmer friend from Marlborough was disappointed to say the least. Had talked this eatery up as have always had yummy meals but sorry for money spent was a total rip off. 3 stars is looking far too high!

P.Aberdeen on Broadway is our fave restaurant in Palmy and it's where we go most often to celebrate a birthday and so on. Top food, great staff, lovely ambience, and don't forget to order a side of the best onion rings you'll ever have because I don't share mine.
T.I thoroughly recommend this restaurant for its atmosphere, food and service. Staff were incredibly attentive and went out of their way to ensure we had a special dining experience. The food (which was faultless and highly skilled cuisine) was only complemented by the knowledge and friendliness of our waiter. A remarkable experience - we will certainly dine there again.
m.Just back to the Motel after a steak meal at the Aberdeen on Broadway ave Palmerston North. I have been on this earth for 73 years and have never had a steak as good as I have had tonight. The whole meal was 5 stars plus as was the service. Would recommend to any connoisseurs of an excellent steak, it is magnificent.
A.The best steak in town. Every time we dine in, we always try different entree and last time, I had the gnocchi and prawns for my hubby. Top notch, I couldn't fault both of these dishes. A 10/10!
D.Visited Aberdeen Restaurant on Saturday 5th December for Xmas work function, very excellent service, waitress's were great, always there when you needed them, drinks were quick to be served and the meals didn't take long to be served as well, great food, just a little light on vegetables, but delicious, special thanks to our waitress Sian and the other girls that looked after us they did an excellent job, I would visit Aberdeen again, great atmosphere.

J.Whilst most people enjoyed their meals, one person found the duck very salty and the charred vegetables were too overdone. We waited an hour for our main courses which was disappointing.
g.The place is nice but food is way too overpriced for the quality. Looks like They prepare the base of every plate in advance, and then they place the beef on top. The result is a plate of separated items.
I think there are much better place in terms of food in Palmy.

J.Recommended by a friend who's originally from the area. Had a late lunch there on the way to Wellington and it didn't disappoint. Risotto was thr right texture and flavour though had just a touch too much parmasean. Ribs were well seasoned and the meat comes right off the bone.

D.This is one of my regulars, and the food was typically up to the mark: chicken salad with various eclectic flavours. The winning touch was several pieces of fried haloumi. Only downer was the way the waiter distributed wine from a couple of bottles intended for the whole group - would've thought it possible to ensure six people each got something from a bottle of pinot gris after the first round of pours. Poor judgment.
