S.If you want top restaurant quality meals then definitely eat here. The food is as good as any restaurant in Wellington or Auckland and much better value for money. The staff are absolutely lovely and the scenery is stunning. I highly recommend Apiti Tavern and Eatery if you are out that way. You won't be disappointed.
A.This place is - fantastic. Outstanding food and great friendly staff. Don’t miss out on this hidden stop - here are a few of the desserts- but the ribs etc are great! Nice local atmosphere, play pétanque and enjoy a drink or two

R.I think I have said it once before but i will say it again.... this is worth the drive and looking at how hard it is to get a table word has gotten out. The food is just amazing. The staff are nice and check in on you to much sure you are all good. So I say if your wanting a place to go for a nice drive in the country side and have great food and a cold drink this is the one. But might pay to book. Would not want you to miss out on the amazing food and it's not to badly priced.
R.OMG this pub should be on everyone's list of places to visit. We went for a drive on Sunday for lunch, were greeted with a smile, they asked our names and form that point on addressed us by name with every interaction we had, customer service plus.
The meal was incredible the brisket burger is every males dream lots of meat, the pork belly noodle salad was so tasty I didn't share it. And very reasonable for the food and drinks, we will be back.
S.First time visiting here. Had the most delicious lunch (one of the nicest pork belly I've tasted) and the staff are very welcoming and friendly 😀
B.IM COMING BACK!!! Again and again! Dropped in Sunday for lunch with a toddler and we absolutely loved every meal we had. The ribs just fell right off the bone like it should. The seafood risotto was packed with seafood and a generous size too- not the cheapest stuff either it had scallops, prawns, mussels and fish. The beef brisket burger had my husband drooling. We'll definitely be back again. Staff was just the icing on the cake. Super friendly and accommodating.
C.This is a great place to relax and have a good feed and a few drinks. They have powered sites for moterhomes out the back so you can park overnight if you like. We will definitely be back.
S.OMG the food here is amazing. the staff were so friendly and such a lovely atmosphere. My wife and I drove 1 hour and 20 minutes for a meal here after recommendation from a friend, the drive was well worth it. We will certainly be back.

These new owners are transforming this little Tavern into a pub experience you don't want to miss.
Grant and his team in the kitchen absolutely demonstrate their experience and long-held passion for food in every dish. Slow cooked smoked meats are a specialty and the desserts live up to the main courses. FANTASTIC hospitality from John and the team on the floor add to the experience.
It should not be a secret anymore ! Apiti Tavern needs to be your to do list! There's even spots to stop and camp or powered sites to park up if you're travelling the Manawatū Scenic Route.
Only a short walk from the fabulous Apiti Domain free camp site also.
P.Well food was Amazing. Chef Came out to have a wee chat. Need to book as they are not a secret hide away.
Go for a drive and try the Devine food... Yummmy.
Its DEFINITELY NOT slapped on the plate and just pub food at all.
F.Great pub to visit for a Sunday lunch. We cycled out and the publican is so friendly, kindly lit the fire for us. The pizza is fantastic. 👍
Have cycled to this pub, have motorcycle to this pub. The reception is the same. The staff are fantastic. How the chef remembered all our orders by memory I'll never know.
Had the Kimchi chicken, spicy but delicious. Friends had the fish burgers and Sirloin stake, no complaints from our table.

Lively place, in the middle of no-where (from my perspective)
A.Fantastic food. Slow cooked beef, pork ribs and chicken. If you’re a fan of this kind of slow cooked BBQ then you can’t go wrong. Very surprising to find such a great place in the middle of nowhere. The venue is I guess a little rustic, but nice, with plenty of space and a nice fire, and outdoor seating

G.Always a great experience, thats why we love coming here. Awesome atmosphere and very friendly staff. We had burgers for lunch - they have very large patties and yummy chips with aioli. I had the smoky pulled brisket and it was amazing, did I say amazing!! Very filling so you won't leave hungry. BTW, the craft beer on tap is delicious.Thanks so much guys!!

D.Went for a wander from the tararua for lunch. Steak meal was great. We are farmers and know our steak, just a steak ,chips and salad ,but was quality steak. Fine example of what a pub meal should be !!well done guys and girls. And yes we have medium rare and was cooked perfect.

Only let down was the dining room was cold without the fire going, and the lights a bit harsh which made it less comfortable. P.Time to take a drive to Apiti and experience this diamond in the rough. Great friendly service, drinks and food. If you want really American style BBQ then this place has the menu for you. Pitmaster Jon is a master of the craft and you can indulge in the many yummy things he offers up. Hint, the brisket burger is as good as it sounds and it's at the top of the menu for a reason!
A.Friendly staff, pays to book, they were fully booked. Sticky ribs were yum yum yum!

C.When I heard there was a tavern in the middle of nowhere which served smoky bbq food, I just had to try for myself.
The drive through the beautiful country side was worth it and I was not disappointed.
Surrounding the tavern are sculptures of moas and giant tuatara-hope they are not on menu-alongside rustic farm machinery.Smoke was billowing from the chimney.
On entering the decor is simplistic but there are two wood burners which give you a warm welcoming feeling.
There is a casual vibe and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
Outdoors there is undercover seating and two huge smoke bbqs fired up and ready to go.
You are spoilt for choice with the offerings on the menu all at reasonable prices.
However I was there for the smoky bbq, with that I ordered the smoky brisket hamburger with truffle sauce.
It was succulent full flavour rich and smoky the chef did it justice.Actually his awards are on display behind bar.
The fries are crispy on outside and soft inside - scrumptious.
Coffee is Arosta which is local and the barista served a good cup.
Well worth the trip and I definitely will be back for smoky ribs.

D.Friendly barman, delicious ribs, chicken burgers and mushroom burgers! They gave us some free chips too! Great outdoor deck seating area. Highly recommend and we will be returning.

J.A group of six of us visited the Apiti, couple of us locals and the food wasn't quite up to the usual standard. The steaks weren't cooked as ordered. The fish however was good. Hospitality was reasonable with friendly locals and staff. Overall the experience was adequate and I give it a neutral 3 stars.

L.It might be a little out of the way, but definitely worth it. And a top stop for cyclists... I had a fab fish and chips and then they allowed me to camp in the grounds, uisng the nearby public toilets. Kiwi friendliness at its best,and the new owners defintely deserve your support

T.What a great little find! After a fabulous twisting journey upwards to the clouds we reached the beautiful Apiti basin and discovered the family run Apiti Tavern. Great food and hospitality. Definitely recommend the pizza but come hungry!
A.10/10 - Magical place, gourmet food, lovely staff and moa everywhere. If you haven't been here yet you haven't lived! Perfect basecamp before you head into the Ruahines for your nature fix.

F.The first time we visited the Apiti Tavern was 43 years ago as young things down from Auckland on an adventure. There have been plenty of changes since then and all for the better. As it was also nearly our wedding anniversary, we returned for a celebratory dinner.
The service here is always excellent and we were made very welcome. As it was a lovely evening, we chose a table outside with views of grazing sheep and alpacas in the paddock. Check out the kiwi and moa as well!
We selected bread an dips from the entrée menu plus surf and turf for mains. Both were excellent with the dips tasting home made. Very moorish. Dessert was a surprise prepared by the chef in honour of the occasion - delightfully presented and a perfect way to end the evening.
Whether you choose the Apiti Tavern as a stop on one of the great Manawatu scenic touring routes or as a destination on its own, you will be glad that you called in. It is becoming a regional icon!

R.Don't judge this place from the front aspect. Inside and, more especially, outside at the back there is a great atmosphere. The food is plenty for the value and staff friendly and helpful.

B.Classic Kiwiana. Drop in and say hello, a great relaxed spot for a wine or whiskey near the fire or sunny open garden. Completely fluked visiting this place as it is slightly off the regular road route, take this direction, it doesn't change the distance much yet there is little traffic.
