Good experience, loved how they have a call button to push when you are ready to order. Meals were a generous size and tasted good. Coffee machine wasn't working and they didn't have the flavor pulp for the frappe I ordered. Not a fan of the chopping board style serveware instead of a plate, kept cutting through the paper liner and food flung across table trying to cut the ribs as all served as one. Didn't get to try dessert as took to long to arrive after main, so we cancelled them off our order.

Upon entering Breakers on a Sunday evening with no reservation, as we were not planning on being in Palmerston North, we were met with the friendliest waitress with the hugest smile. She had no hesitation in explaining the procedure around eating at Breakers, the specials board, and we could sit wherever we wanted. Ordering was a breeze, press the button at the table and hey presto a waitress appears. The below photos are the fish and chips, you even got to choose battered or crumbed fish and the mussels in a garlic sauce. As dinner was served the sun was setting in the hills and causing a glare, there was no hesitation in asking if I wanted the blind lowered. Top service, but only a four star due to the amount of grit left in my mussels. Overall a great experience. We will definitely be back

So enjoy going for a meal at breakers. Staff are friendly and service great, food is delicious and not overpriced. As a shift worker it's nice to be able to eat out get a decent meal not takeout stuff at any hour of afternoon not have to wait till a certain time for kitchen to open like most restaurants

Environment here is great and the kids can be kept busy with a a small play area, and I'm always a damn of a pool table or 2... Unfortunately the food isn't great, a bit bland but the large portions makes up for that, even the kids have massive portions.

Came here for Nana’s 80th and it’s a big family friendly place perfect for these kind of gatherings! Huge servings. Good value. Easy casual atmosphere. No drama and ideal if you’re out with the family and extended family and mates. Loved the crispy mushrooms. Everything decent though and actually quite a cool kinda kiwi summer vibe to the decor. Thanks for having us Breakers. Very enjoyable.

Fries cold and roast was dry. Burger was good but when you wait half an hour for your meal you expect it to be hot Pudding however was quite solid. Breakers wanganui is a lot better despite being much smaller A bit of work to be done but not all bad. Just needs better quality control

We had lunch here and the lunch menu was perfect. I had the Kahuna burger it was great but too big to finish definitely didn't leave hungry. My husband had the Kiwi burger and he said his was just enough. Both burgers came with really crispy chips all for $16 per burger. Will definitely do lunch here again, highly recommend

Great Service and delicious meals. Chicken Diane was Superb. They even swapped out the burger buns on our Chicken Burger for lettuce when we asked for a healthy alternative. Easy reservations over the phone. Plenty of activities to keep your children occupied.

We went here for Mother's Day. Although the decor is non-existent, it was a huge place so we were expecting long delays. We were pleasantly surprised at their promptness and their pleasantness. I had a BBC burger, and my wife had the Kiwi burger. They were very large and tasty, one of the best burgers we had ever eaten. We highly recommend them. If you're looking for a burger in Palmy North, you couldn't do better than this place!

A tidy establishment. My first time going there but I would not hesitate to go again. Prices are good and staff was very attentive. Good for all kinds of occasions, whether it be a family night out for dinner or a casual work do. Meals were delicious and well presented. Waiting time for meals was not long at all and there were quite a few people dining at the time. Large range of different meals, and a well stocked bar. The only issue I had was the menus on the table were quite worn and sticky/oily from previous patrons. The paper menus had old grease spots as well. Bathrooms were clean and tidy. Overall it was a good experience.

Great. Little five year old chose Breakers for his birthday Dinner celebration. Five adults four grandies. Good meals. Fish burger was great hot and nice pieces of fish. We all ate well for economical priced meals for nine people. Staff very helpful and meals served promptly.

Thankyou Breakers for making our family lunch on Saturday memorable. We had a table of 12 adults and 4 children and, everyone of us were extremely happy with the food and service. We started off with the garlic and cheesey garlic bread. The garlic bread could have needed a lot more butter for my taste but the cheese/ garlic bread was delicious. My entree was the salt and pepper squid, a favourite of mine. The squid was fresh and plump and oozing with flavour, it was cooked perfectly and the accompanying salad with its 6 or so fresh ingredients was a perfect balance. My main meal was the Thai beef salad and wow it was good. Delicious fresh salad, crispy noodles and fresh marinated beef schnitzel steak with a punchy flavour. My family had a wide variety of entrees and mains and they were all beautifully presented and cooked perfectly, I sampled a few entrees and mains and all were very good. I'm dropping in to Breakers today to join their loyalty programme as we'll be going there frequently from now on . The kids meals were also a huge hit and value for money especially the the deserts.

Staff were friendly and welcoming and we were seated really quickly. Food was nice and affordable. Wait time from ordering to getting our meals was quite long but understandably it was a busy night. The only negatives I found was that it was quite noisy and we found it hard to conversate as we couldn't hear over the noise (again it was busy so this could be why) also where we got seated was right by the pool tables which was fine while they weren't in use but when they were, the people were only inches away from us.

A great place to go for dinner if you have young kids as the kids can play in the play house and with the many toys and books. The food is cheap so isn't amazing but not too bad. They have different meal deals each night of the week. The kids loved their food and dessert and the burgers we had were ok. The service was great and they have a great selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. The kids loved the mocktails.

Came here for lunch today. My mum & I ordered the special of the day which was a roast meal, followed by cheesecake. I found the meals to be expensive. The desert was pittance for the price you pay. Good place for families with kids. It's got this whole surf theme which is why it's caked Breakers I guess. The food's fine as well, and they have specials on different days of the week. Today the burgers were all like ten bucks so that's cool. The staff did come in and hurry us out while I was writing this so I momentarily put it down to three stars but then the guy was nice about it so it goes back to four.

We were in Wellington for the weekend and this was a stop over. Overall, this place was ok The deco was pretty but we could barely talk to each other as it's really noisy inside. Upon reading the reviews re: food taking a while, we decided to order from the cabinet. Bacon &egg pie was ordered. The food and coffee actually arrived quite promptly, which was nice. Salad was nice. Areas to improve: coffee-good but this is the first time in a long time that I have to lick my fingers to drink coffee. Bacon & egg pie was bland, not very warm and a little too moist? Service and staff: great. I rated higher due to the patience and pleasant nature of the serving staff. Especially after hearing them patiently serving the older couple next table who insist on the staff going back to the kitchen multiple times to check that the chips was gluten free.. And the sauce and... Everything!! Would I come back. Possibly.. Don't think you have much choice in this area. Will get the coffee.. Not too sure about the food. We might try the menu next time and see if it is indeed a long wait and hopefully have more flavour than the pie we had.

Hi,my husband chose Breakers to have a quick meal before attending Trade Evening. The Welcome from the Staff was friendly and polite,we were invited to take a seat , my husband was then asked if he had a Gold card(must have been the thinning Grey hair,he was then told about the Gold Card meals. I chose a Ceasars Chinese Salad,he had a Burger &Fries, we both had a dessert &a drink. Meals were well presented ,tasty and best of all the Bill was $50.00. We don't eat out very often but were overwhelmed with the lovely reception we received from William. Extremely friendly and helpful. As we were eating our dinner we could hear him greeting all the customers with his cheery manner. He is an asset to Breakers.

Breakers, pretty average. Adults meals and burgers were a decent size, and it was no problem for my mother in law to take a doggy bag home. However the kids meal was measly for $8. Two very mini hot dogs and the chips were very few, (I could still see the bottom of the box they came in). Hubby enjoyed his wedges but my nachos were soggy, I am not into soggy chips, in their defence, the nacho mince did taste great with just a hint of spice. Would I go back? Ummm probably not.

Great family restaurant. Relaxed surfing beachy decor with well worn/ridden surfboards on the walls. Breakers have a very full and complete menu and their children's/Groms menu has pictures. It's this detail that takes the headache out of ordering for our littlest of tummy's. Fair pricing and quick service keeps us going back to Breakers as we have done for many years. And they hold their spot at the top of our list.

The meals are all reasonably priced and taste good, the atmosphere is relaxed and fun, and they have activities and play areas for the kids. They also often have sports playing on the big screen.
