Really delicious food and a nice friendly venue. The salads are epic as is the schnitzel. Fries aren’t as good as Rosy O’Grady’s beer battered fries, but they have plenty of yummy snacks at Speights.

Not a bad pub though it was weird to only able to book a table between 6-7:30pm. Service on a slower end. Food was decent though the pork ribs were over cooked. Mud cake was delicious!

Food was fantastic, had the Lamb cutlets. Service was fine, had to wait at the bar for a few minutes before being served. Very homey place, good for a couple drinks.

Food was lovely, love the idea of having individual Cinnamon Oysters on the Dessert Menu for the times when you know you probably cant manage a dessert, but want something sweet.

Went here for a birthday, food was amazing and we had excellent service and very accomodating to our needs. Everyone loved it and had a great time. Very warm and friendly atmosphere.

Absolutely delicious meal, I was impressed by the young lady who took my order, she actually listened, not a lot of Staff at places we go for a meal. We both enjoyed our meals.

Great food! Camembert with plum sauce starter was good, Lamb Shank absolutely delicious and salted caramel cheesecake special was devine. Smart service and cool casual atmosphere, really enjoyed it.

Was very Impressed. My family and I went last night (16/06/2021) for my birthday. Food was amazing and didn't take too long, dessert was beautiful and service was absolutely incredible. My kids came and the staff were very accommodating for them and gave them activities to do while they waited for there meal. All round brilliant. Thank you Speights Ale House

Ordered the small sized pork spareribs. Well presented food, and really well cooked and balanced tasting meal. The meat fell off the bone and it was a very pleasant meal. The service is very friendly, tables clean and well presented. The music is too loud to have a sensible conversation, needed to yell and repeat sentences in order to understand the people around the table. The food took a long time to arrive, waited approximately 50 minutes to 1 hour for our food. All in all, still a pleasant night.

Great service, Moeraki Mussels were delicious! ( would have liked to lick the plate) enjoyed the Musterer’s Roast Lamb Cutlets and The Stockman’s Steak Thanks will be back.

A group of 14 of us for dinner including 4 children. They were more than accommodating and I was particularly impressed with the forethought of the young ones and getting their meals out early. The food was lovely and all meals came out together. Good menu variety and very nice specials. Children given fun bags which was an added bonus. Was surprised at no up selling of items ie coffees. I would be more than happy to dine there again.

Loved this place, never been there before, great atmosphere and the meals were outstanding. Fast service too, our waitress was very professional and we found out when we paid she had only been there 4 days! We had a really nice night.

The price does not match the quality. Your paying for the ambience. We ordered the half loaf as an entree, did not expect to acctually get half a loaf of heated bread. The steak was more medium then medium rare, but the roasted vegies were delicious!

Went to Speights for a 21st birthday and it was amazing. The staff were great, and the food was amazing. I ordered the Tomahawk steak as I'm sick of going out and only getting a tiny piece of meat - I was well and truly pleased with my choice. The steak was huge, and more importantly, it was cooked perfectly - not an easy thing given the thickness of the meat. It was also very tasty. I asked for only the steak and fries myself, but others got the full meal and the plates were full. My wife had the fish which was also very nice, and my mother-in-law had lambs fry which she said was the nicest she's had for many years. Well and truly recommend this place

Love the beer here can’t go wrong with any of them. Tomahawk steaks are some of the best I’ve had in the world. staff was very friendly the lamb here is also great. not enough good things to say about this place

They accidentally lost our booking as there were 2 with the same name. They rectified it quickly and got us a table. Service was lovely. My partner ordered the Tomahawk steak which came with a small portion of mash and veges. Not sure if it was worth $52 but he said it was lovely and we did have a voucher. Pork belly was wonderful, and the desserts were delicious. Very big servings for dessert!

Very yummy food! A bit expensive but definitely good value for money, I got a lovely steak with mushroom sauce and my boyfriend got the lamb shoulder (I think) and we both got a lovely variety of veggies! The meals fill you up so don't order too much food if you can't eat a lot of food! I'll be back Speights is always a delight :)

Felt a bit rushed as we were seated, still waiting on one more person, asked if we were ready to order as soon as that last person arrived, he had only just sat down, waited roughly 20-30mins for meal wasnt that busy at the time, ordered a beer, never received it, lucky didn't have to pay for it, other than that meals were pretty good

Had the ribs, could not fault that ….but the service put a damper on the whole experience. We were seated upstairs out of sight and out mind of waiter service. A Long wait for our mains and even longer wait for a sundae for my daughter.

Called in for a quick lunch. Ordered from set menu. Lamb shank, schnitzel, waited a while. And waited some more. The lamb shank was on the tough side, not very hot or tasty. Schnitzel was average and overcooked. Some staff need to smile. All in all won't go back.

I have been a regular patron of this great restaurant for many special occasions. Tonight I was with my mother and partner Claire for dinner. The service was just brilliant and the timing between ordering our meals and having them bought to the table was perfect. The bolognese I had was full of flavour and I had trouble finishing the bowl. The ladies I was with both enjoyed their dinners and the evening was a great success. I look forward to seeing the staff here again soon for the next occasion. Thanks very much for your hospitality.

Meal was good. GARLIC bread had no flavor. Not one person asked us for a drink and we had to ask for water for the table. Would of stayed for dessert if staff had of promoted more drinks. Overall was OK.

An amazing, delicious steak dinner, if you like med rare/rare, which we do! Onion rings were a nice touch. Thought the maple might be abit sweet but hubby loved it. And of course his tomahawk😊. Compliments to the Chef and team. Will def recommend.

Open concept Pub with professional and friendly staff. A good menu of the normal bar food options and great beer. The seating is plentiful and good air-conditioning inside with great options for patio seating. A great spot post work, a dinner or a night out.

We experienced many restaurants on our travels with Speight's Ale House in P.N. being one of our highlights. We were immediately greeted and seated by friendly staff. Drink orders were taken and arrived shortly after. The hosts were pleasant and generous with their time and seem to have a great rapport with their customers. amazing

Wholesome hearty food with generous portions. The service was quick and the staff friendly and attentive. Room for parking next door and access easy. The Thai salad was delicious and generous. The seafood chowder comes in a good portion size but I felt it was not cooked from a fresh seafood stock base.It was lacking flavour. Overall good size meals and great staff.

Had a delicious meal at he ale house. Was a bit noisy and meal took a while to come which meant if we wanted desert we had to have it at the bar as they needed the table, very busy. This didnt suit us as we couldnt getbup on the stools. But the wait was worth it. Fantastic food. Waitress was lovely as well. Bright and bubbly.

Such great customer service. The staff couldn't do enough for our group. Recommend the 'Blue and Gold' - Blue Cod and chips, and a glass of Ned, Sauvignon Blanc. Everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Food was ok. Drinks were slightly better than average. But the experience was not great as we were offered a great deal but then got overcharged. We had to argue for a long time and then saved more money but the experience was already ruined. Pity.
