A.Super romantic venue. The degustation menu was amazing
J.Finally someone who knows how to cook! The steak was well rested and melted like ice cream in my mouth. The pork belly was soft and tender with just the right amount of crispy crackling. A very rare find to have meat cooked so well in a New Zealand restaurant. A greater selection of drinks would make this the place to die for.

A.Our family went for a birthday lunch. We ordered the gnocchi, fish tacos and a children's meal. I found the gnocchi fantastic. The tacos were very tasty but slightly wetter than we expected. The restaurant is in a converted church and has great atmosphere as well as a playground outside for the kids. Service was excellent, and we weren't waiting long for our meals. Thanks for the great experience.

b.Great place for sole-diners. Had dinner here by myself in June 21. Fire roaring away and just the right amount of attention from the lovely women wait staff. Food is outstanding and exquisitely presented. Do try the award winning duck breast
H.We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our dinner last week. The service was fantastic. The duck especially was exquisite. Been a couple of years since I last visited and was glad to come back again. Will come again when I’m in Nelson next.

S.I'm local and I didn't know this restaurant existed. It needs some good publicity. Venue is delightful, spacious old church with fireplace. Tables not too close together. Good wine list and fine menu including gluten free. Food superb. Congratulations to the chef and our lovely waitresses. I had pan fried fish of the day (snapper) with ravioli and the most delicious sauce, two had lamb shanks and two had swordfish. We were all thrilled with our dishes and the desserts were good too. Highly recommended. Well worth the prices. Will definitely eat here again.

The desserts were amazing, we tried them all! The staff were fabulous and looked after everyone very well. This is one restaurant you must try if you're looking for something a bit special :)
E.What a beautiful dinner we had at La Capilla! First of all, the building is gorgeous. It is an old church with high ceilings and a cosy fireplace. We loved how open and light it is, but still with great ambience. We shared a bottle of local wine- of which there was a great selection. The food was absolutely incredible. The menu isn't vast, which is perfect because you'll want to eat everything. There are many gluten free and/or dairy free options, and they're clearly marked.
I highly recommend going to this restaurant with several people who are willing to share because all the options WILL cause food envy. Between four of us we had the Spanish omelette, ox cheek, pork belly and smoked salmon. (I went home and had dreams about the smoked salmon, which is divine-- you should immediately go to La Capilla and try it.) We followed that with one each of the four mains on the menu, which were all amazing. Desserts were dreamy and I was very excited to find a gluten free and dairy free dessert for myself! As the best food does, each dish sparked at least one memory of a loved grandmother's meal or a special trip we've taken.
S.Wow! This food is exceptional. My entire family loved every bite of their food, the meat was cooked perfectly and the flavors were so good. Some of the best food I've eaten in New Zealand and I highly recommend it. Definately the place to take your friends and visitors to. I'll be back for future special occasions.

r.The setting of an old church is beautiful. The service from the wait staff was exceptional. Some of thr plates of mains were amazing but some were ok. Same as the dessert. However, i thoroughly enjoyed my evening. One small thing - the choice of mai s is limited.

i.Nice little resto in appleby. We had their special, and it was alright. Just not that big of a serving unfortunately. I love their complementary bread as it is fresh from the oven. A bit pricey, so not going back again unfortunately. Staff was lovely. Cozy setting.

B.this chef is a great magician who really knows what he does. The food is simply perfect and it would deserve a high number of Michelin stars. This food is so precise, so careful balanced and handled with an amount of respect and love I never experienced before in all of New Zealand. We highly recommend this place to visit and to follow this master chef where-ever he will cook in the future! A.What a surprise! Restaurant is a beautiful intimate setting, each dish unique and unlike anything we've ever had before. I can honestly say that every dish was prepared perfectly and the flavors artfully combined.

The service is impeccable, the setting is unique and a must for locals and visitors to Nelson.

D.Food was great but very expensive. Not a lot of it for the price. The only vegetarian option was unavailable. Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff but can't afford to eat there again.

J.Have been to the Abbey on several occasions and have loved every visit. We have been with our children and the outside garden area has a playground for the chidrten and has allowed us to catch up with family. Whenever we are over from Australia we visit Abbey Cafe at least a few times during our visit and just love it. Can't recommend it high enough. The food, staff and beers are just sensational. Keep up the great work can't wait to visit shortly. The outdoor seating area and garden are just lovely and enviting. Great place to chill out and enjoy the day with family, friends or whoever you have the pleasure of spending it with.
