We had a lovely dinner at Ambrosia. The $29.90 three course dinner meal (5-7pm only) is an absolute steal and the quality was excellent. We both ordered the same - gnocchi entree and surf and turf main followed by the signature ambrosia for dinner. All were well cooked and the timing was perfect. The staff were fantastic, attentive and extremely friendly. Special thanks to Sabrina for such fabulous service. I would recommend Ambrosia for a casual and quick dinner. The only complaint is that it is also a bar so it can get a little loud as sports are also playing on the TVs. Inside was nice and quiet tonight, however.

Love this restaurant. The atmosphere, the decor and the staff are great, but the food is what we come for and we are never disappointed. Their 3 course menu is heaven!!! The gnocchi and broccoli garlic soup (when available) is our favourite starter and the chicken parm main is so delicious and generous! The only dessert choice is the house ambrosia but it's so delicious even my fussy, ambrosia hating daughter loved it! My only tip would be if you want fries with your main, order them with your starter... they always seem to arrive when you're almost finished your main. Highly recommend the restaurant!

The food was good, but nothing stunning. The smoked salmon I had was great, but very small, if the waitress would have advised me I would have probably have ordered a side with it, but wasn’t worth it the wait after… also we thought there wasn’t any dessert options (as then discovered thyme hav a different menu for it), but went we went to pay we mention we were going to look for dessert somewhere and only then they mention. Another sales opportunity lost 2! So there is room for improvement still…

Great deal from Bookme of 3 course meal. Amazing value for the incredible food you get. Must try their homemade prawn ravioli as starter, we had this then Lamb Rump as main and lemon and blueberry shortbread as dessert. Very friendly service too! Happy customer and we'll be back! Thank you.

The Ambrosia Crew welcomed out big group of people outside yesterday and was happy to have that space just for us on top of having some blankets and a heater outside for comfort. The beverages were fresh including beer and some cocktails our group ordered. All the food items that came out looked beautiful and also tasted delicious as a consensus from the team. My partner ordered the steak sandwich (I would have called the an open faced sandwich as there wasn’t the full bun), I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and they were both delicious. Happy with our order and the taste. I placed a coffee order at the end and the lady mentioned that it would be done in a couple of minutes, 5 minutes later the server came over to let me know that they needed to serve a big table (looked like 15 of them) first, before our two coffees. It ended up taking a bit too long from what was expected, but we were not in a hurry to leave so it was fine. Just a little miscommunication in between. Thank you again, And we’ll be back the next time we visit Rotorua.

Popped in a for a beer, took ages for staff to walk over (as it’s table service only) and then even longer for the drinks and food to arrive, but they were apologetic so there rating went up from 2 to 4 stars because of this - they did however serve our dog some water before us)

First time for us to come here and we weren't disappointed. Been a long time since I've left a restaurant so full that it hurts haha. We ordered the $29.90 3 course meal and they were amazing. The flavors were Devine. The meals were huge. And I had to request takeaway for the dessert because that was the bit I was looking forward to the most and just couldn't fit it in. And even that was displayed beautifully. The staff were friendly, chatty, personable and just all round amazing. We will be back again. Thanks so much guys.

This has to be the best restaurant I have ever been too!!! I have been to many but have never tasted food as great as this never mind there cocktails. If you go to rotarua do not miss this restaurant very highly recommend!!

We drove down from Auckland, stayed at Novotel. These guys were close by, right next door. We didnt dine in, just came in for drinks. What was lovely and nice is that they were able to cater to our needs. We have two kids aged 4 and 2. The nice bar lady was able to make them two milkshake smoothie drinks. While me and my wife had our own drinks. The kids loved it. Their hospitality is amazing, even the guy behind the bar was amazing. Thank you once again.

Caught them on a bad day maybe. It was all a little off the mark. Friendly staff, but food took a long time to arrive with only 4 tables occupied. Portions smaller than what's usual around Rotorua. Poached egg was waterlogged and undercooked. The deep fried Gruyere had been sitting on the plate for a while as the bottom was soft and soggy. Watched some very capable deep fried food being delivered to another table so think chef was a decent short order cook but the Gruyere croquettes and poached egg were a little too technical. Companion's salad was ok, but small. Had a banana when she got home. It's just a snapshot and maybe not representative of the usual performance, but these diners will probably not try again for a while.

Seriously good value and very tasty food. Could not believe what we got for the $30 meal deal - crazy , good. Very friendly, down to earth staff. Good to have those blankets for extra warmth on a cold Winter's night.

This is a fantastic place for an event. We held our daughters 21st birthday there and it was great. They let us decorate (even helped us) and nothing was too much trouble making it a special night. Its a great location, great owners and staff and I would highly recommend it.

Great staff very friendly. We sat outside and we couldn’t hear ourselves think, but after all it’s a bar what can one expect. Food was nice but but the portions were rather small leaving me unsatisfied. Paid 7 dollars for two pieces of garlic bread and a minute drizzle of balsamic vinegar. On the whole, they were rather fast with their service with the meals taking about 20-30 minutes to arrive. I would dine here again but I would order a more filling appetiser and reconsider where I would like to be seated. The Desert was magnificent, presentation was immaculate and the taste was fantastic.

The food was amazing. We have eaten at many restaurants all around the world and we were so impressed with not only the quality and quantity but the presentation. All 3 courses were delicious. What really topped out experience were the staff. They were lovely -especially the English guy who went above and beyond. Great pricing, amazing kai. All my food made to perfection. Super cheap! 29.90 for 3 course meal. Sorry if I got the price wrong haha. Loved my steak, cooked perfectly. We did it cheap and got the 3 course meal deal for $29.90 but it didn't feel cheap at all. The meal was amazing. 1st course I chose the soup. A beautiful creamy pumpkin soup with bread. 2nd course I had the surf and turf, the steak cooked to perfection and smothered in creamy shrimps with a coleslaw and roast potato the final course was Ambrosia, delicious and light with a tang of berries. Highly recommend. Service was awesome. Will definitely be back and I will be wearing elastic pants. 🤣

My partner and I came for my 21st birthday, we had the most amazing delicious food (and we are foodies!) The staff were so kind and amazing, we had a yummy cocktail mix on the house!!! The maître d' serving outside today was wonderful; he was very friendly and definitely made us feel welcome. The food was delicious. I did not expect the starters to be so large and neither did those I was dining with. It was really good value. This meant that I ended up taking most of my main, the gnocchi, home and I look forward to having it for my lunch tomorrow. Everyone else gave rave reviews for their mains though my father (ever the critic) said he would have liked more of the salsa to do with the pork belly.

Bland atmosphere. The lighting is dim and unlively. Food is exceptional and fairly priced and staff were friendly, but unfortunately quite slow. For a Saturday night, the place was very empty. Styling was not what I expected but was ok. The menu was a bit uninspiring, but what we did get was done very well. This place is underrated. 4 stars.

When we arrived, we were told that they couldn't seat us for 15 minutes even though there were plenty of empty tables inside (initally we thought they must be booked), and we could wait in the bar area. The bar area was comfortable and warm, we were then seated in the "dining" area, right in the middle of the walkway into the indoor area which was uncomfortable and cold. We asked if we could just eat in the bar area and were told they keep it seperate especially on a busy Saturday night. We were then offered a table indoors once they had cleared a table, and were moved after 5 min. Once inside we ordered our food, and while waiting we saw one waitress bsolutely rushed off her feet, while two or three waiters just casually cruised around. It was taking around 20-30 min just to have a table cleared, then another 20-30 min to have it wiped down and set up again. Food however was awsome

Would drive down to rotorua again just for the $16.50 1kg mussels, always cooked perfectly in a white sauce. Never overdone or overpowering and the bread on the side to mop up the extra sauce is a great touch. All meals have great value for money in terms of the size and amount of food you get
