We had mushroom chicken alfredo, carbonara, seafood Mariana pasta and DF pizza with vegan cheese, everyone enjoyed their meal! Elderflower cocktail was yummy too! Servers were friendly and smiley, provided great service! Thanks! can’t say the same about the guy (might be floor supervisor/manager?) at the cashier though - he seemed little low/unwelcoming mood and was my exit experience for a lovely meal with great company.

Average food, basic Italian recipes over seasoned and made complicated. Child meal of spaghetti was served with chunky beef and unappetizing sauce. Will rate favourably in the future if improved. Customer service impeccable. No complaints.

We have been there twice and will continue to go back. Staff is extremely kind and super helpful. Food is amazing. Place is beautiful. We had both a private small dinner and also a massive dinner for 22 people and both times we were throughly impressed by the quality of service and food, they went out of their way to accommodate everything we wanted and looked after everything including decorating and cake! Make sure you visit these guys!

Service was attentive and accommodating, but the food was by far the best. In our group we had the Milano, Pork & Puha pizzas, mussels, side salad and prawn & crayfish ravioli.. Oh my were we impressed! Definitely coming back for the ravioli. Friendly staff with a good sense of humour too. Will definitely recommend.

The environment and the service was great. The braised lamb shoulder ragu has plenty meat so I was satisfied with the price of it. The crayfish and prawn ravioli was very special, it was really tasty. I love all the pasta, the taste of cheese was rich. Loved it.

Probably the best Italian food I've had so far between Rotorua, Hamilton and Auckland. Gnocchi were great albeit a touch over cooked. Sauce was excellent, veggie lasagna was very good, arancini was outstanding as was the broccolini and service was very very good. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Delicious food and beautiful service! Such a lovely service provided by the friendly and helpful waiters (especially when we couldnt for life life of us, figure out where the mozzarella sticks had disappeared to from the menu, turns out the menu had changed since lunch). We were still able to get the items we had wanted from the lunch menu for dinner and it was perfect! Absolutely yummy food, followed by a mouthwatering pannacotta dessert as recommended by our fabulous waiter. Definitely recommend you give this place a go!

At first impression the restaurant look like a tourist trap and staff doesn’t know much about italian cuisine and wine, but the food is actually very tasty and I would go back!

Been here 3 years ago while on holiday and it was so memorable, I made sure to revisit this trip. The pasta is the highlight - there are not many choices but the beauty is that each choice is always perfect! So good that some of our party ordered 2 dishes. Try the carbonara if you don’t know what to pick. This time we also tried various desserts and recommended are the Italian doughnuts and tiramisu - just as how it tastes in Italy. A big thank you to Mr Leonardo who was very friendly and accommodating for my multiple revisions of booking time.

Whilst the venue was located in a wonderful setting, provided plenty of seating and the service could not be faulted, alas the crayfish and prawn had no flavour. I was after that sea taste which was not apparent, by fragrance or taste. Very disappointing. For the size of the establishment, having only one toilet for males and one for females, I feel needs to be addressed.

Great food. I had the venison special that included a generous portion of Piko Piko and Maori potatoes. The tomato salad was refreshing. The lobster ravioli suited my pallet however my wife found the sweet seafood with sweet potato too much.

The ravioli with ricotta, spinach and nuts were great and so was the risotto with bacon and mushrooms. They were two of the specials of the day. This place is much cheaper than some others around and the food is as good or better. The portions are not too big though and the price for the 1 liter jug of beer is actually for 750 ml.

On my fourth day in New Zealand, we were supposed to be having one of the best planned itinerary in our trip. Halfway through the day, the youngest member caught cold bug and had to be hospitalised.. missing one of the tour was not really that important but the fact that it drained our energy and affected our mood. Luckily she put up a strong face and after 4 hours she was discharged. Feeling hungry, I fired up Google to find place to eat. As a matter of fact the only food that they all could agree on was pizza so Italian restaurant it was. Many options but we settled for the nearest to us with good ratings. Located at Eat Street Rotorua, we decided against dining alfresco due to the cold weather. As it was weekday, not many diners were seen and therefore we got undivided attention from the waiter who served us. ◾Risotto con Granchio - crab, chili, chive and sweet pea risotto, parmesan and prosciutto crisp NZ$26.50 was the best money spent! The risotto was brimming with the sweetness from the crustacean while the crispy parmesan prosciutto provided extra crunch to the otherwise soft texture of the Italian rice. ◾Insalata caprese NZ$15.50 - with cured prosciutto, horopito and basil oil, balsamic reduction and croutons. ◾Margarita NZ$18.00 - a classic Italian pizza done right with Napoli sauce, cherry tomato, mozzarella, fresh basil, and olive oil. Thin crispy crust with generous cheese and tomato toppings but the happiest part was to see how the little ones gobbled up everything ◾House pouring white wine - badly need this to sooth the feeling after the blardy incident. A plan of just stopping by for a quick dinner turned out to be one of the best meal of the entire trip due to the setback earlier in the day and the fact that the weather was very gloomy.

The food here is something my partner and I will brag to people about, and forever remember. This is only night two of our week long holiday, but I think that will be the best food we'll have for the duration. I don't know how that can be topped. We had the crayfish and prawn ravioli, and the lamb shoulder cannelloni. I had the cannelloni and was desperate for more, I really needed more... I might just be there tomorrow night too.

Staff were super friendly, we asked for 2 aperol spritzers and the waiter quoted us $10 instead of $16 and was kind enough to offer them at the initial price. They were busy so waited an extra 10 min for food but they warned us up front and checked in with us multiple times. Lots of gluten free options and the crab risotto (below) was yum.

We were both busy on Valentine’s Day to go out so we took a rain check on our romantic evening out to hit this epic restaurant on a still Sunday evening. — Photograph featured was the Tiramisu, check out the presentation of this traditional Italian dessert. Seriously WOW! I would highly recommend Leonardo’s to anyone wanting a fine dining experience, the staff are prompt and friendly making for a warm yet professional and punctual approach to a quality service. ...where to dine next?!

The most amazing meal! A group of five of us ate here on a Saturday evening without a booking. Service was impeccable. We ordered multiple entrées and Mains to share and everything was delicious. The meals came out promptly and looked very appealing. The desserts took it to another level with the presentation and perfect Panna Cotta. This was the best meal I have had in years. Recommend this restaurant entirely.

The first place we spotted in Eat Street, ended up being the one we circled back to after checking out everything else. The food was delicious, very well presented and decent value. The scallops were "the best I've ever had" according to one of our party, and the Kitchen's use of native/local ingredients in italian dishes was a really nice touch. My Quattro Formaggi pizza could have done with maybe a bit of punch from gorgonzola, but it was delicious none-the-less. The chicken parpadelle dish was substantial and ended up as a doggy-bag for lunch the next day. The third adult's cannelloni was delicious and hearty. They offer a good kids menu, and our three 4-5yo misses were more than happy with what they were served. The kitchen were also happy to provide a simple "kids dessert" of just a scoop of ice cream at a reasonable price. All up, we spent around $230 for Three adults & three kids for dinner. This included five alcoholic drinks, adult starters + mains, and kids mains + desserts. Pretty reasonable. I'd definitely give this place another crack next time I'm in Rotorua.

Meh. Fairly bland fayre that won't offend anyone. Had two dishes and they tasted identical. Really nice staff though. The kids "chicken tenders" were those nasty processed things that have only a vague connection with chicken and were cooked beyond reason. Needless to say they stayed on the plate.

We were notified before being seated that there may be a small wait for food as the kitchen was busy. A place that obviously takes notice of it's prior reviews and takes steps to rectify any issues. Perfect gap between seating, drinks, entree and mains. The staff were excellent and their table service and manner is something that other restaurants could learn something from.

I had a pizza margarita and it looked and tasted very cheap, about 80% of the pizza was cheese and made me feel a little nautious after 70% of eating the pizza. My husband had gnocchi, which was fine, but pretty boring tasting he said. Service was all right, but my hubby ordered his meal without mozzarella (because he is allergic to cheese) and then he got his meal with another type of cheese. Drinks: idk, we ordered 2 cokes and those were fine. Restaurant itself looks amazing and is very cozy with the fire outside.

An absolute pleasure to dine here. The service was top notch. Never left waiting. The food is divine, i had the lamb rump which was amazing! Great place to get pizza or Italian meal in the middle of Rotorua's food district. Ambiance is great and restaurant is spacious allowing dinning without neighbors peeking in your plate. The food was good. My pizza had a slight bitter taste to it, I am guessing from cheese used. Coffee was average but the staff was really great and tentative. Overall, good place for dinner.

Amazing food and service. We went on a relatively quiet Monday. The waitresses were very natural and genuine, not at all impersonal like many wait staff. The food was in my opinion exceptional. Beautifully presented and the flavours were like a series of explosions of the taste buds. Rather than the pasta dishes I went for the whole baby roast chicken marinated in chilli and garlic all day. Crazy good and quite spicy. The cocktails were well done as well. Will definitely visit again.

Pizza was decent and they have a relatively good selection of various Italian dishes. I didn't fully enjoy my experience as the waiter we had was a bit pushy with trying to sell us more food. My group didn't feel like a full meal but just a little snack, so we ordered 2 pizzas and a salad between 5 adults. We asked the waiter what a certain item on the menu was like because we wanted to know if it was suitable to share. Upon hearing the explanation we felt it wasn't suitable for our group so we decided not to get it. That waiter would NOT take no for an answer. He would not leave until we ordered that item and kept trying to get us to order it. We felt pressured and uncomfortable when he kept it up. Being helpful and recommending an item is one thing, but ignoring our requests and continuously trying to upsell can really ruin your mood and that's what happened for us. We visit Rotorua at least 4-5 times a year and for each visit we go to Eat St at least twice. This was our first and most likely our last visit to Leonardo's. There's no point coming here when I have had better experience at places like Atticus Finch.

Covid Level 2 has done this place no favours in terms of decor, BUT the food is tremendous! Oh my god, the pork belly! If carbonara is your usual fallback trust me, now is the time to deviate! I have never felt like a $30 meal was worth the price tag until now! Beautiful food, great service, and I can't wait to go back! You've earned a loyal customer from AK!

My plate was delicious, Muslim friendly (minus the booze). Slightly under staffed on our visit. Feedback given management acknowledged and apologised for the delays prepping our food. If they extend their kitchen, to lose the 2 or 3 tables, add more staff, that business will boom. One of the fish dishes was under cooked, but solved in less than 10 mns. Would still recommend it, as we may have come in a challenging day.

Twelve of us walked in without a booking, we were found a table inside, no problem. We all ordered a variety with only a couple of pizzas... and we all enjoyed each meal (perhaps too much). Each dish prepared deliciously; meats cooked perfectly, gnocchi not chewy, calamari tender, fish fresh and tasty, nothing swimming in sauces, pizza bases mm-mmm. A nice selection of wine to suit every palate. This was a great spot.

The service was good and the facilities and food was as well. It wasn't authentic Italian though and the pizzas were too thick for my liking. Also, the toppings were things I would not put on a pizza. Probably personal preference as opposed to bad flavours.

I’d booked without realising it was no longer the “authentic / original Leonardo’s” I’d eaten at several times before. The service was good and the food nice. I was underwhelmed that my pasta was dried packet pasta not the homemade beautiful spaghetti I’d had with my previous visits and was looking forward to. The seafood was ok but my meal didn’t WOW me. The rest of the table seemed happy with their meals. It seems that Leonard’s is now Indian owned and operated. I think the name and or the menu should change to reflect their cooking expertise. Leave authentic Italian cuisine to the Italians. I wasn’t unhappy with my dining experience just not fully satisfied by it.

This is my first time dining at Leonardo's since it had a change in owner.. I personally think the menu is better now than it was previously. The inclusion of pizza on the menu has made an immediate difference for the better. The pizza options are great and they have my favorite very thin and crunchy base. The other dishes available are more in tune with the local crowd and the type of tourists visiting Rotorua. The service from the staff for both drinks and food was excellent. They were very friendly and helpful and available easily to answer questions or take additional orders. The new Leonardo's will be a place I will go back to.

The waiters were a bit pushy trying to get us to order more and pushing us to get a big pizza instead of a kids one however the food was really good and exceeded expectation and the pizza was next level. Nice, cosy spot. We'll be back for a takeaway pizza tomorrow in fact.

Under new management so the team seemed a little uneasy and confused. Once they have nailed the little things like getting the table fully ready, providing enough cutlery, and making sure guests have enough drinks it will be fantastic. Great food and atmosphere.

Ok, so there was good and bad here. I am not going to judge the authenticness of the food, as really, it doesn't necessarily matter if it is "authentic" as long as the food is good. The problem is the pizza was terrible. The crust was thick, which could have been fine if it was yummy. It was not. It was just hard and cracker like, with really not a lot of taste. To top that off, it was severely lacking in sauce with too much cheese. On the other hand, the pasta was yummy. It did taste fresh and homemade, and I was honestly choked that I didn't just get pasta. Takeaway. Stay away from the pizza, and stick to the pasta.

Leonardo's has become a go-to option for a Saturday night meal whenever I'm in Rotorua. The food is always top notch. High quality, extremely tasty meals. Service is fast and the staff extremely friendly. The interior is a touch light on ambience, but the staff and food more than make up for it. Despite the bad review we decided to take a gamble and go to Leonardo's, as we were hankering for an Italian. Greeted by our bubbly Italian host, we were quickly given a table and chilled water. The wait staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and most of all quick. We ordered the delicious and authentic Carbonara, the Chef's special flounder, and the gnocchi with the most delightful light mushroom sauce. We shared the italian salad - a very special salad with the tastiest sundried tomatoes I've ever had, creme caramels and tiramusu and espresso to finish. Everything was fresh, made with very high quality ingredients and delicious . The restaurant was full when we arrived and we were the second to last to leave - and the service was impeccable from start to finish. We even left a bottle of wine just in case it was BYO behind the counter overnight and there were no problems on holding it for us. Thank you for making our stormy, rainy getaway to rotorua memorable. We will definitely be back.
