Fish n chips was great. Batter was light and crispy and portion just right. Would've given you 5 stars but unfortunately found a bone in one of the hoki fish. Hamburgers were pretty good aswell.

Cute place to get food. Many things on the menu are inexpensive but they are fairly small portions. The food was very greasy since everything is fried. We tried their fried fish (2 orders) with onion rings(1 order) and potato fritters (1 order) -- seen in the picture.

We stopped by this town when we went to Coromandel. We didn't know where we could find cheap food, so we decided to buy some fish & chips here. Surprisingly, the food was great (maybe we were too hungry).

5 stars is an understatement. I can give this place 6 stars all day just for their amazing fish and chips. It was arguably the best chippy I ever went to; the chips were otherworldly as I believe the chips were fried in the most classy way. (Slightly boiled, cooled and double fried maybe which is by far the hardest but tastiest way to cook your chips) The fish was amazingly fresh that I could hear the fish singing. Some would call the batter is a bit soggy but I would say this is their unique style of battered fish which is one of the best methods to deep fry the fish that are so fresh. Out of seriousness I would take the entrie shop to South Island where I live if I were rich enough. It is so sad I have to leave this amazing restaurant behind :( Much love to the staff. You guys should be proud of what you do here!

Just eating by the estuary honestly the best fish n chips and burger with two quality homemade patties, best conventional takeaways I've had no bull. Stop here and take home some of their seafood chowder too I bet even their milkshakes are good

Good crab stick, nice fish, great pineapple fritter and tasty spring roll. They also do milkshakes which I am keen to try next time and they have scoop ice cream as well. Everything is cooked fresh and is worth the short wait. Paired with a nice bottle of champagne on the beach this makes for a terrific treat.

It was alright, fish is kind of expensive. $6 if you get a piece of frozen hoki crumbed. The flavour wasn't bad however my chicken chips were also overcooked. I probably would try the place across the road next time.

Came in on Wednesday the 9th after camping for 7 days and needing bacon :) and boy did you make my belly very happy mate and nice and friendly and a great tasting bacon burger with very nice amount of potato fritters too. and 1 yummy hotdog. I will be back next time i am up that way for sure. Didnt get around to taking a photo as it made it to my belly too fast to think lol

We spotted this Fish n Chip Takeaway shop when we are on the way to Thames. Surprisingly the food was so good. We love the seafood basket, fish burger & mussel burger. We would like to try the Paua ( abalone) fritters but unfortunately they don’t have it.

The hoki from surfnsand was mediocre as best. The coating wasnt very crisp and the flavor was quite bland (we had to season it more ourselves). The same can be said about the chips. The tartare sauce was the only thing that we thought was a good representative of the current rating. Across the road is Aaron's kitchen which I highly recommend you go to if you would decent fish and chips.

Food quality was variable. The fish (trevally) was really good, the burgers were average. The worst thing was they missed a few items (one burger, onion rings, and some fries) out of our order. Unfortunately by the time I realised I had already left.

Had some really tasty fish and chips from this place whilst travelling through to whitianga. Scallops and mussels were great as well, recommend this place if you're hungry too as the portion sizes were quite large.

A pretty awesome place. My family and I always come here for lunch whenever we travel to Tairua. Frankly, this is probably the best value food option in town. Obviously it's not fancy or gourmet, but the fish is fresh, the service is great and the prices are very reasonable.

Highly recommend this place to any tourists looking for a “classic” kiwi fish and chips. $3.50 for a piece of hoki. Really good price! Amazing hoki, they were square and probably an inch thick. Perfectly salted and good batter. Best fish and chips I’ve had in over 3 years. Really glad we stopped here for dinner and next time I come through the coromandel I will be stopping here again. 10/10.

Staying in Tairua and found this fish'n'chips shop. On the cheap so took the less fresh hoki. Lovely piece of fish and chips were good too. Had a hash brown as an extra and finished with some scoops of ice cream which was perfect after a long hot day

Favourite fish & chips in the Coromandel. We always plan our route to swing 'round Tairua and get some kai from Surf'n'Sand, after hitting the beach of course. Well worth a visit!

Beautiful fresh fried fish and chips and ice cream to go. Great customer service too. I left my phone there and returned an hour later, thanks to staff for putting away safely till I returned. Very honest, reliable staff. Would reccomend to stop in and try.

At the New Year holiday time this fast foods service in Tairua, Coromandel was frenetic with a long line waiting for their fish and chips. The wait of 40 minutes was worth it. Choose the pan 🍳 fried snapper or hoki. Delicious and great value. Do visit the Cathedral Cove at Hahei Beach, just past Hot Water Beach. Old volcanic area. Geoff.

We stopped here Wednesday October 3rd , we have stopped here most times on route to our Bach at Hahei , the food is outstanding I had usual Cheese Burger Wife Only has Hawaiian Burger Simply Outstanding as usual we usually get chips but didn't this time as it was only lunchtime , the chips are a very good portion and AAA+ , the ice creams are massive , there will always be people that complain but there those kind off people , u don't eat fish n chips burgers and ice creams everyday , Surf n Sands are the best in The World , not the Southern Hemisphere not New Zealand The Whole World
