Felt very satisfied after the meal.🥩🥩 Had Eye fillet steak wrapped in bacon, cooked well, tasted fantastic😋 while T bone steak was a bit over cooked. Gravy that came with the steaks was delicious as well. The environment was lovely, and the service was nice and professional.

Very high quality steak in Taupro. We ate a scotch steak, duck beast, garlic cheese bread, and a desert. Both are exceptionally tasty. We will certainly come to eat again in our next Taupro visit.

Had dinner at the steak house tonight. Walked through the door and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We were shown to our table and was nice with mood lighting. The staff are excellent, polite and very professional. The only thing I would say is let customers know to watch the step when heading to the front of the restaurant. The food was just amazing. I had the T-bone steak (huge and the meat melted in your mouth) with two eggs, mushrooms sauce, cheesy sticks and my wife has the chicken and bacon fettuccine (she said it was really good). We had dessert Ginger Creme Burlee. My wife and I shared and it was delicious. Will definitely go back.

My husband and I went here on Friday night. Service was amazing aswell as the food! We gave our compliments to the manager and thought our 2 waiters were absolutely lovely and on point. It was a plus that they served Halal aswell. Definitly recomend

The service was friendly and speedy, even though they were very busy. My partner's steak was delicious but some of the other flavours were a bit off (the duck breast sides weren't to my taste and the cocktail was very sweet), but of course you go to a steak house for the steak!

So many amazing meat options! Fantastic service. My top pick for Taupo restaurants. They were able to adjust the meat meals to keto and there was still plenty of food to satisfy. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the food was really good! This will be my first stop in future visits to taupo. Highly recommended for keto, zero carb, or meat lovers. The only thing missing was a cheese board on the dessert menu.... Maybe they will add one in the future.

We will come again soon. Lamb is amazing. They don’t have front car park. You have park your car little bit far or opposite site near to the Tongariro park. They have wheelchair friendly access. They are pretty busy restaurant. If your group is big you should take reservations for your table.

We ate here two nights in a row on a recent trip to Taupo. Lovely atmosphere, excellent tasty food and good service with very friendly staff. Our steaks were cooked to perfection (which can be tough when ordering blue steak). My only criticisms were that on the first night our empty glasses from the first round weren't removed until the end of the night and the second night our meals came out lightning fast which didn't give us enough time to digest but all and all a top notch steak house that I highly recommend

The staff here are quite friendly and kind. I ordered a “200g prime sirloin steak” and a bottle of beer. The taste of the steak is good and just $25(it’s an early bird special). The bottle of beer is $8. A little bit expensive. But, overall, it’s a good restaurant.

Recommended to us by a local. Gurtej and the team know their stuff. We are Wellington based foodies (and food snobs) and well traveled. The steaks were among the best we've had anywhere and perfectly cooked and complemented. I had pork belly entree followed by the 300g eye fillet (with blue cheese). Could not fault it. Will become a regular place for my steak fix when in or passing through Taupo!

The Steak House is a restaurant that aims at fine dining, rather than just your average meal. It has a fantastic friendly, warm environment from the moment you walk in the door. The aesthetic is refined and modern, and the tables are comfortably spaced and positioned. As for the food, I cannot fault them. Their steak was cooked to perfection, the sauce was rich, but no overpowering. The Greek salad on the side was very fresh, and delicious. If you are looking for somewhere up market, with fantastic food, and a welcoming atmosphere, then look no further. A must visit in Taupo.

On the fence about The Steak House - I asked for a medium rare steak and it came out mostly rare. Another friend ordered her steak medium and hers was medium well to well done. However, the brownie was divine.

The food was ok - what you’d expect from an average steak house. The experience itself was all very rushed, felt like we ordered fast food. Would not recommend the ‘special’ cocktail, tasted like watered down alcohol mixed with a ton of sugar and cinnamon. We were sitting in the bar area which is very poorly lit, to the point we had to use our phone torches to look at what we were eating.

My partner, daughter and I were here between 6pm and 7.30 pm. The waitress made a mistake with my order although i did point at the item when ordering. She and the restaurant manager then apologised and even though it is okay, people make mistake, it just meant I had to wait for 45 to 50 minutes for my meal to arrive. The food was great. But wait for this. When we were at the counter, the restaurant manager said, I'm sorry again about the mistake mam, that would be $204. I checked the bill and saw the item we didn't order there! So I said to him, really? you are going to charge us the lamb rump we didn't order? He then got red-faced and said, well, actually I was going to ask you to double check mam. Shocking! He came to our table 3 times to apologise and he still was going to charge us the lamb rump we didn't order. To the restaurant owner, the food, the drinks and the ambience were great, unfortunately you have a deceitful manager.

Out of all the wonderful eateries Taupo has to offer, we decided to eat here for our Anniversary dinner in late July having received a recommendation to try it out. We're not from Taupo so this place was carefully chosen to give us the most memorable experience whilst we visited. First and foremost; what a beautifully decorated restorant - the ambience was wonderful and cozy - bravo on a good first impression. The food overall was also delicious and diligently prepared with finesse. I personally ended up eating two mains for reasons I will explain momenetarily, but enjoyed both nevertheless. Now for the unfortunate part of our evening. My wife after receiving her mains expressed that she found the food to be quite tough and unpalitable for her, and requested to change it. This simple request was for some reason escalated to the manager who came round and tried to understand the issue but failed to see the big picture and uphold that extra level of customer service we were expecting. He questioned my wife rather intensely for a few moments arguing unnecessarily about why she didn't like the food before turning to ask me what I thought about her food which I felt was rather inappropriate and irrelevant as our tastes are obviously different. Whislt he was generally polite all throughout the interaction and I fully understand the need to ask questions and get feedback on the food as a first step, he unfortunately made my wife feel intimidated with the way he questioned her and handled this, and this resulted in us ending our dining experience earlier than planned and not proceeding with deserts which all 5 of us really wanted to have. Ultimately I was forced to order another meal for my wife since a replacement was not accommodated and I subsequently ended up eating two mains to avoid waste. I didn't mind doing this and I certainly wasn't expecting a freebie, however the manager could have been a bit more professional with his approach and ultimately they lost out on more orders (which by the way would have cost a lot more than a replacement dish) due to the lack of simple warmth and a smiling disposition from the manager. All other staff were wonderful and welcoming which is why I will still rate this place 4 out of 5.

Only disappointment was the dessert menu, no dietary requirements visible and no suggestions for gluten free. Amazing meal, the eye fillet steak I had was cooked to perfection and the oysters were outstanding. My wife had the scotch fillet and she loved it. We had our 22 month old son and they accommodated him well and got his meal out super quickly which was ideal! Great atmosphere and experience!

Steak great. The coleslaw for $8 was a very small bowl of very mayonnaisy supermarket slaw. I would have expected something better and a serve for two. We felt the experience and quality was not up to the quality it used to be, and the value did not match the pricing. ( up selling changing out potatoes for chips an extra $3 which is fine if the serve of fries is high quality which these weren’t) In the end I think the whole dinner was just about how to get sneaky upsells without adding equivalent value. The manager offer to change it for any steak on the menu because it was their mistake. He still charge us for the more expensive steaks instead of the rump steaks. We just paid and left. The atmosphere and service are excellent, but what makes a steak stand out are the accoutrements, such as a robust peppercorn sauce, or better yet, a brandy mushroom sauce. Really enjoyed our visit to The Steak House Taupo tonight! Booked earlier in the day and was seated in a nice area at the front. Loved the atmosphere and ambience at the restaurant. Food was delicious and didn't last long on the plate! The steaks that were ordered looked awesome and the chicken breast was delicious. The food arrived in a reasonable time, the only thing I'd say would have made our visit a five star was the wait to order (drinks and food) but our lovely waitress did mention she had a few other tables to wait on. This place, it's get busy, but it's worth it. Good service, great food!

Steak was good but served on a squashed baked potato? Desert (Rum pot) however at $18 dollars was well marketed It read as the feature delux don’t let you kids have one adult deliciousness but unfortunately on arrival at table was diabolical! The cost gets you a small scoop of average vanilla ice cream, a walkers shortbread biscuit (fresh from the packet) and three raisins, a slightly frozen crushed raspberry and possibly a slice of mushy apple all of which got to sniff the barman’s pinny enroute to your table from the kitchen! Total fruit in pot = 1/2 a dessert spoonful Do yourself a favour here just skip desert. Oh and staff are about as interested in your dining experience as a piece of cardboard would be! Not good enough Taupo Steak House simply not good enough!

This is by far the best place I have eaten in Taupo to date. The steak was cooked to perfection (rare, of course) and the sides were mouthwateringly tasty. They had no problem catering to our table of sevens' off menu requests and the barman even made me a whisky sour which is not on the menu. What's more is, he did a good job of it. Very cool front of house staff, although the waiter was a tad nervous.

OMG the food was just another level above all else. It was fabulous faultless loved it so much. Professional at it's best. Service was great. Steak was cooked as requested bang on. Food and service was absolutely amazing! The steaks were so fresh and tasty compared to steak in America. Aslo very child friendly placerk dine for dinner. We had a lovely view of the lake and the park during dinner time. Went here twice for dinner the second dinner wasn’t as good as the first but overall definitely would recommend the staff are great! Cozy intimate atmosphere with waiters who pay attention to detail and make stellar recommendations.

Went here for dinner while staying in Taupo. Best service I have ever had in New Zealand the steak was comparable to the grill in sky city. Price arent too bad considering the quality of the steak and the service provided. If you want an amazing night out eating steak and drinking amazing wine go here. I usually don’t leave reviews on googlemap, but this place I feel like I must. I had been let down one too many times by 4-5 star steakhouses, but this one hands down does AMAZING steak. In fact, my best meal in my 2 week trip in NZ! I can proudly call myself a foodie and don’t give 5 star ratings easily-but their tender eye was just a dream. I would definitely visit this place again if I come back to NZ!

Saw the reviews and by George they were correct, good wine selection, and the menu, what a variety, not exclusively meat, the calamari starter was a delight and not what I was expecting, no thick batter, the surf and turf was really delicious. The service by the staff was excellent, time to choose, no rush and very friendly in to the bargain. All in all a really overall good dining experience, would definitely recommend this eatery.

We went in when it was very busy and were asked to allow the staff 15 mins before serving... within 5 mins we were already served our drinks. Despite the place being full, the food came out in a reasonable time and was delicious. Will return when we can!

If you are a meat eater like me, you'd like to try lamb in New Zealand. I have tried many different lamb steak in New Zealand, the best one I have had is at the Steak House in Taupo. I ordered the Lamb Rump Steak. It was perfect. Before that, I thought the lamb can be only prepared as lamb chops, lamb shank, or stew. I really enjoyed the Lamb Rump. I asked for a median cooked. It came out exactly as I was expected. Different from beef, lamb has its special taste and flavor. Thanks you Taupo Steak House to make me realize that. Even if this is a small city, a reservation is needed if you'd like to dine there at your preferred hour.

Excellent steak, but disappointed that they do not cater for Keto, and as Taupo is the Keto Capital of New Zealand, I thought they would be more helpful. Iasked if the potatoes that came with the meal could be substituted for a more Keto friendly salad or vegetables, and was told no, but could get potato fries for an extra $3. I explained that potatoes are not keto. Just a smile and confused look.

My partner and I were staying in Taupō and decided to go into the steakhouse we asked for a table for two but as they were busy all tables for two were reserved. But were were told there was a bar table and bar stools we could sit at which were totally fine my partner got to sit in front of the tv and was happy. Yes...you should just go now! A friend and I stopped in late to fuel up after hiking the Tongariro Crossing - no regrets here. I'd recommend the Porterhouse. You won't be disappointed in yourself for getting it, rather what if you don't!? My mate had the sirloin and was beyond satisfied with his choice. Place had a nice relaxing feel, and not too fancy of an environment for the price. It's an awesome steakhouse, so it's not cheap.

Dinner for 6 of us tonight. Dining space is modern and warm with a dimly light glow that has the familiar “steak house” feel to it - just needs an ageing cupboard to show off their quality cuts. Service was on point, welcoming, friendly and warm. Our kids polished off their plates without fuss, and the usually never are able to finish their food - fussy eaters but the kitchen did such a good job they couldn’t help but to finish. Our meals exceeded expectation - steaks were flavourful and well aged, and the catch of the day was fresh and thoughtfully presented. Wish we could have had room for dessert as the portions were precise enough that we could manage appetisers and mains. Maybe the best dinner we have had out in NZ over that last couple of weeks.
